  1. Yes, indeed. Just when everything is falling apart you can still have some great moments.
  2. Back to plenty of bad news again this turn. The AT gun amo carrier team abandons thier position. More guys surrender. But some face off against impossible odds. The final member of 1 platoon HQ the radio operator faces off against three of the enemy. He looses but you don't want to see that part.
  3. The shrek team that I moved to face the flanking Stuarts has finally had enough. In their panic they run right in front of the tank and start taking MG fire from at two tanks. But look at this. He holds his ground and aims with his last round. And scores a hit! That makes two destroyed Stuart tanks. Unfortunately he did not manage to escape. His run for cover was cut short not 30m away by the other tank.
  4. Well what a turn. It is a story of courage and success! First the AT gun that opened the game gets another try. I figured they would not get another chance but a Stuart poked its nose out and had it bloodied. And again. But unfortunately the tank pulled back obviously still in some kind of working order. The AT gun crew already fragile from the events around them and the very high volume of fire coming there way decide they have had enough and bail. Their Amo carriers have a field day taking on the infantry down the street from their location.
  5. Well if the shot is 100m or less take it if longer get out while you can. Really a one shot one hit over 100m is a long shot.
  6. It is a lot easier now than it was waiting for CMBN. Now at least I can play some CM2x between checking the forum
  7. Well this is pretty much way off topic for these forums. The thing is *not* people who are monitoring all the data - programs running on computers are. And yes it is doable. It becomes kind of like a big database you can do research on. Find a cell of criminals in real life? Look at their cell calling patterns before their big job, code it up and go see if you find similar patterns for the last year, two years, 10 years or happening in real time now. Oh look - that is a set of suspicious calling patterns, lets send agents to look at that group over there. Or we will run background checks on everyone we get a hit on and send agents to follow up any that seem suspicious. Or look at that these guys have a similar pattern over the last few years lets see what they are up to and start reading their emails. You can see where this can go. If your quality of searches are good you might find actual bad guys doing the same bad thing. If your searches are bad you might be following joe/jane citizen as they go about their daily business. That could lead to a lot of disruption for joe and jane citizen. And by keeping all this filed away you can really get dark about it. Those XYZ people keep opposing my political agenda go find out what they have been up to for the last 10 years. Some of them must have done something we can use to discredit them. Or my girl friend/wife left me where is she now? Who doe she work for? Is she seeing someone else now? What can I get him in trouble for? Can I get her fired? Can I close down the day care she uses? And since the data is there for everyone you can do that kind of crap if you have the right access. And given the lack of oversight that has been recently revealed this is a real issue not a conspiracy theory. And on and on.
  8. I will do some testing and give you a better answer as soon as I can. Right now getting the Mac version to work is taking all my time. As I predicted it is not going smoothly. Thanks for the help I am getting!!!
  9. Hee, hee says the guy who give us free UI mods. What is your hidden cost @Juju?
  10. Well I agree that we are going to have trouble convincing the BFC team that x, y or z percentage chance of spotting 1, 2, 3 or more guys behind a tank is a problem because of what you just said, I disagree that running a test comparing a tank spotting infantry and infantry spotting a tank would help us. I have never seen any evidence that there something ary there. My experience says that infantry generally have no trouble spotting tanks and tanks don't always spot infantry. The issue is how much of a difference is there and how much of a difference should there be and how much it should vary from in front and behind a tank. I guess it would be worth considering how well a tank spots an infantry team from the front compared to how well they spot one behind them. That might lead to something interesting. I'm not sure why you are keeping your thoughts here a secret nor do I see value in your claim that you noticed something no one else did. I am sure you are a creative genius but genius is only relevant if it is shared. Are you by chance wondering if tanks should be able to spot things high up in buildings from the street.
  11. I'm not Bill but the usual way things work is once you have you game patched to the same version you get the same features. So, in this example, assuming they use the version number 2.1 for the patch that comes with MG, once the 2.1 patch comes out for non MG owners and you patch your game to 2.1 then you have all the features they added in 2.1.
  12. I like the idea - did it work? I thought the hide was executed after the last move command. If I am right they would just wait normally during the pause (which could include kneeling and firing even) and then get up and run followed by hitting the dirt.
  13. Yes, chat is on my list. I was planning to use plain text files so that non WTII users could just use them. However making WTII compatible with H2HH would be awesome. You are thinking about making an opponent finding facility - cool. I would be up for cooperating together on that.
  14. Strange - that is CMFI's trick. It makes running multiple versions extremely difficult because the older games show up as playable in the newer installs and you can accidentally upgrade. When the first patch to CMFI came out I asked them to change it so it was configurable in the install. I really hope they do that otherwise or PBEM lives are going to become more and more complicated.
  15. More of the same. Shells falling guys running and surrendering. Game some guys orders to go hide in the trench. Nothing much to see so I just turned the file around.
  16. OK, I paid attention. Multiple times. I don't get what the winking is for. Anyone care to speculate?
  17. Oh, interesting. Let me think about that... I am pretty sure pushing turns to your opponent will work fine but if you play a turn on one machine and then look at your turn status on the other it might not pull the new turn out of drop box and therefore would think that you still had to play it. That's from memory. Let me do an experiment and get back to you...
  18. Indeed very ironic and poetic. An honorable and worthy opponent, you are. With a great sense of humor.
  19. Hee, Hee except you are better of finishing a game started in 2.01 with 2.01 and start new games using 2.1. Or if you really want to upgrade - which usually works do it in a controlled way and follow the upgrade procedure and make sure your opponent knows and agrees to the plan. One other thing to consider - after you make the copy of the install remove any mods from the folder you are going to upgrade - before you upgrade.
  20. LOL great idea - can you be the product manager and create a list of new features?
  21. LOL Oh my guys have been caught with their pants down that is for sure.
  22. For the record there are more people who have posted in support of using the map as it is than there are those complaining (not backed up by actual statistics 'cause I care so little I did not actually count:-). And then there are a large group who are ignoring the whole discussion so they can enjoy the AAR Of course Ken is having lots of fun with it, in his Ken will be Ken sort of way, but you can read all that later
  23. Well I don't speak for BFC but from my observations the path they have set is very clear. When they put out a module a patch comes too. If they are just updating the point release it means it is a free patch (MG is said to take us from 2.01 to 2.1). Hence free patch. So you can have 2.1 with no CW and no MG and play with someone with 2.1 and both modules - of course the game those two opponents play can only make use of the original game content and nothing from the CW or MG modules. Yeah, again not BFC but they make changes that are not strictly speaking bug fixes. If memory serves they tweaked the way flavour objects can be positioned in the 3D editor as part of the 1.11 patch. If what you are asking is if you need an MG unit for a 2.1 patch feature of fix to work then: Nope. (well there is always a chance but then that would not be intentional - it would be a defect)
