  1. Thanks - I didn't read all that since I figured it was mostly the same as in the briefing. Clearly not correct. I will check to make sure I have the right mods. Thanks. The civilian vehicles mod is actually stated to provide additional flavour objects. So, if you designed the scenario using these additional objects what happens to those objects when someone loads the scenario who does not have the mod installed? Can you point to a grid section that has these vehicles? I would be interested in seeing what is there with and without the mod. Lots of people have been enjoying it so I am looking forward to it. Did you ever make that PDF for decoding the intel codes?
  2. I am looking for assistance locating the mods referenced in the briefing (yes, that means I am setting up to play this). The briefing mentions three mods: Ukrainian / Pro Russian Separatist mod by Pquumm (digital uniform) - found a drop box link in this thread Kieme CMBS additional flavor objects (civilian cars) - found a drop box link in this thread Kieme CMBS alternate crops (farm field crops) - found an official source http://cmmodsiii.greenasjade.net/?p=2942 So are those drop box links correct? Are they planning to be made available in the official mod site? At any rate I am planning to add tags to those mods since I do not want them to appear for all my games.
  3. This is good stuff. I used the document App-6aHandbook "Land Component Handbook" from April of 2001. That book has nothing about suspect symbols. But based on your comments I did a new search and came up with two more modern ways of marking suspect units: ADRP 1-02 Terms and Military Symbols from 2015 - this document shows suspect icons as using dashed lines. Below is a sample showing that. I am not sure if the dashed lines would only be on the frame shape or the symbol content too. FM 1-02 Operational Terms and Graphics from 2004 - this document shows using the same symbol frame but with an additional ?. Both of those show promise. I will ditch the unknown plan and move to the creating both of these options. I strongly suspect the ? version can be made to work but the dashed lines might be workable too. I'll try those out.
  4. From the naming of the file "USMC Rahadnak Valley Search.btt" it looks like it would be a stock scenario from the marine module.
  5. Nope. V4 added a colour and a better look but the frequency, which is 100%, remains the same.
  6. There are only a certain number of FOW icons. This mod does not increase the detail in any way. Just a little clarity.
  7. Yes, I think so. I am not sure what to do with the WW2 icon sets. I am not aware of any forces using an unknown symbol. J should go back to my research but I might have to be creative. That will be later.

  9. Well that's frustrating - it was marked as fixed - I have reopened it. Not sure if it got reintroduced in 4 or was never fixed. I know I never retested it so I am not sure. Anyway it is back in the queue.
  10. Yeah, I suspect that the previous suggestion would actually make things less clear and more frustrating. Those are some cool ideas. Instead of a full bullet by bullet count you could choose form "top up to normal", "extra load", "max load" (to restore standard allotments or load up some more to a reasonable max), "max AT" (to just get the infantry AT weapons). Having the actual results based on what team is involved - so mortar ammo bearers would be the ones that pickup any mortar rounds. Being able to do it from next to a vehicle would be nice (some animation would to extra cool). But there should be a delay to perform the task. Right now the delay is only a minute or less because of embark disembark on separate turns. IRL it would take some non trivial amount of time. It would be nice if the time varied based on the request, so a "top up to normal" would be faster that "load to the max". Yep, same here. My bold - totally agree.
  11. Here is a little thing I am working on for my floating icon NATO tactical symbols mods (CMBS Blue Force, CMBS Red Force, CMSF NATO). Right now I am getting it ready for CMSF2 but I'll make the same additions for CMBS too. Based on my own experience and @Bil Hardenberger's highlighting of how hard it is to tell the difference between FOW tank vs FOW light armour I am planning to augment my existing mods to include some options for the FOW icons based on the NATO Unknown symbol. Here is what the current iteration looks like. For those that like to play on Elite and lower there are yellow icons for the FOW (yellow = unknown). This is not really a good choice for iron because all the FOW icons are yellow and you cannot tell friend from foe. After a couple of minutes of fading. As an alternative and a good choice for Iron players I plan to have a version that uses red and blue colours but uses the unknown symbol shape. And again after a couple of minutes fading.

  13. The general is spot on. I would conceed that shoot and scoot is missed. The problem is that the unit moving into position needs to spot the target and aim and fire. Given the way spotting works, correctly I would add, the time to get the shot off varies to much to set a pause order and have it work reliably. Too often the unit will not make the spot and withdraw without firing. Or fire quickly and the sit there waiting to die. I would like a command that would allow holding position until a round is fired and then withdraw immediately. Personally. Everything else is covered and them some.

  17. An excellent point. I would say that the AI is the one that suffers most and the problem is most obvious when troops in good cover under artillery barrage abandon thier good locations and start running around. So attacking the AI in good positions is not much fun. Human players can issue a pause command and force thier men to stay put. That helps alot and while not perfect pretty much sorts it out for head to head play. I snipped out lots of good advice there to highlight this. Always remember this. Your opponent human or AI is always playing under that same rules and behaviour. Even after the bug is fixed this still applies.

  19. Yes, I believe it does. I recommend going to that order and looking at the full install for CMBS. If I recall correctly you need to patch that afterwards.

  21. Hey, I get it - I have been to Syria (1983). It is a beautiful country with wonderful people. There are really cool historical places to visit as well. But none of that is available right now. People are suffering under a lot of uncertainty. Visitors would be operating under even more. There are lots of other places with friendly people and interesting history to see. Just don't go to a place with that much instability.

  23. Well you will get some people who will say it is so bad they are not playing the game at the moment. Then there are people like me who frequently don't notice. Honestly if you don't have the game to play at all now then waiting is a lost opportunity cost. I would vote get them and play - there will be lots to learn.
