He looks in the direction of the tracer, as it should be. (but maybe he has Tube Guy in his field of view...) -
red vs red and blue vs blue
sawomi replied to toxic.zen's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
From Combat Mission Battle for Normandy - Feature List: There should even be the possibility to make Allied vs. Allied/Axis, Allied/Axis vs. Axis and Allied/Axis vs. Allied/Axis (force-mixed battles) with the editor. -
Many thanks for providing new CMA scenarios. I've just got this sended for H2H and battle is still unfolding. I play the soviet side and I too would have liked to have some small setup space for my airborne troops. I was trying to run the troops on the street and the HQ to other position, but they died in the first moments of the battle, because of 'reactionary elements' opening up at them right from the first second. You should give some little setup-space, or at least warn the soviet player in the briefing about this. But again many thanks for providing new CMA scenarios. That is much appreciated.

Borg Spotting vs Borg ID'ing
sawomi replied to Kanonier Reichmann's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I tried it a little bit with some small WEGO scenarios. * All units are tabbed in view 1 and get only choosen with '+' and '-'. * All movment and target orders for single units is plotted from [tab]-view 1. * Enemy icons are switched off, but can be switched on for units with high-tec optics like MBT etc. * Zoom function according to magnification strengh of available optics. * Only HQ's can use top down view and plot move orders after dubble click. * Scrolling of map only allowed with FBCB2/PDA etc. -> Highest HQ can use 'view 9', platoon HQ only lowest instant top-down view (5 or 6 - don't know right now). Then I made option to roll some dice to give BLUE battalion HQ chance to use high level iso-view to simulate drone recon). Is quite some fun against AI. -
In CMSF you have the option to 'point'-fire with artillery and target individual vehicles with it. PzH 2000 has a good chance to crack even Abrams in pbem, because first spotting round often at least manages to immobilise the tank. WW2 I would think is another story of course.

@ Elvis, you wrote in the second installment: Could you please expand a little more about this, if allowed? -
Borg Spotting vs Borg ID'ing
sawomi replied to Kanonier Reichmann's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
From CMSF manual: Elite: - Friendly units need to be spotted like enemy units - enemy units often need to be identified and until then appear as generic "enemy contacts" - treating wounded soldiers takes a realistic amount of time - Artillery and air support take a realistic amount of time before arriving - Commands may not be issued when the game is paused From 1.21 patch ReadMe: * "Elite" mode changed so that friendly troops are always displayed, even when not spotted by the current unit. A new mode called "Iron" behaves like the old Elite mode. If you don't have selected any unit in Iron mode you can see all your units and enemy units are shown in the most revealed ID state. (nothing, '?' or full ID) But when you select one of your units, you get all of your other own units that the selected unit can't see also as 'nothing' or '?'. So if you have a Platoon of MechInf and put squads next to their IVFs and select one of them you see their IVF and the other squads and their vehicles. But if you put them in the IVF and select them, you just see the IFV they sit in, and maybe a '?' for the IVF that stands nearby, but the rest of your troops changes to nothing. No unit selected Unit in Fuchs selected -

You both are doing very well and complement each other. The American side has the focal point on telling a good story and the German side brings the detailed analysis of the game engine. (...and jonS also has to justify his tactical decisions against a pack of teutonic schoolmasters, guarding every of his steps jealously... ;] -

Don't worry. It's their 8th child. They successfully have raised up a prematurity like CMSF in face of the laughter of the folk folly. BFC have entered the pantheon of wargames developers. They can't be shaken by idle flubdub anymore. -

It's not criticism but grog talk. It's a sign that the people like it. -

What happens with the tree in this case? (allusion to Syrian kevlar fertiliser) -
In CMSF 2 I would first like to see more civil objects like gas mains, gas tanks, fuel dispenser, billboards, wind engines, solar panels, hydroextractors, parkometers, satellite dishes, rail tracks, traffic booms, high voltage powerlines, trash boxes (the big ones with wheels), playgrounds, flower beds, animal food cratches, gazebos, memorials, gravestones, supermarket trolleys, intermodal containers......

Exact. I first posted wrong picture which shows only one in the CMSF pic. There where actually two I think. Now it looks much more random. -

Yeah, I too will have to adjust back from modern setting. To move tanks over open field up a hill with wood on top not cleared by own infanterie like this would be suicide in CMSF. -
In the CMSF Editor you have the option to choose 'ruined' to place the rubble that is otherwise generated in game when a buliding collapses. Then you have the option to place buildings (1 to 8 floors). In the 3-D preview of the editor you can then click on each of the walls on every floor to change to different windows/door configurations. One of the configurations takes away the entire wall and another makws it 'destroyed'. Made in less then 5 minutes: ... Argh, only second.

Good informative description. One get's a clear picture of the tactical situation. As it should be. On the Ami side there is only just the usual lot of drivel and self-praise. I expect from you to give the cowboys bloody noses. Weitermachen. -
Remember these two battles on CMBO?
sawomi replied to Danny Chung's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
-> Riesberg. In CMSF the Shermans mutated to Abrams and the 88's withered to SPG-9... -
We should all thank Battlefront for its generosity to sell us full army packs for a risible price with the possibility to duplicate the virtual figurines as much as we want. Think about it. Could all be much worser... You get them even painted out of the box here.
-
There is the training campaign with it's last scenario where you have to take a small mockup village defended by uncons. Also, if you are familiar with the classic CMBO Betas (Riesberg, Chance Encounter, Last Defence) you can get conversions of them at the repository.
-
Not to include full German air support would be a mistake. To make historical correct scenarios is one thing. To make well balanced H2H scenarios another. Don't forget that CMBN has Blue-on-Blue and Red-on-Red options (Axis vs Axis and Allied vs Allied).
-
It will be the last patch for CMSF. Please don't rush it Battlefront. Put in nice eggs, I can wait till Easter.
