There are T-55-1970, T-55-1974 and T-55MV in CMSF.
The T-55-1974 and T-55MV have upgraded fire control systems with laser range finders.
-> The T-55-1970 description in the manual goes: Upgraded version of the original T-55. It has a more powerful type of 100mm gun, stabilization system, and slightly more powerful engine. Probably 300-400 of these exist as static or bottom of the barrel Reserve tanks.
There are two static tanks in CMSF. The one shows up as the T-54B and the other on is labeled only "T-55" (without year designation) inside the game. At all probability of course this would be the static T-55-1970 the manual talks about. But it also talks about the "more powerful engine" and that the Syrian Reserve Army has some (mobile ones?) "at the bottom of the barrel". I think this shows, that there was the plan to implement two versions of the T-55-1970 (mobile and static). But it seems there is no way to get a mobile T-55-1970 in the editor. Choosing a reserve tank company just gives T-62-1972, T-55-1974, T-62-1975 and maybe T-72(Early) at random. All of these variants have modern (more or less) fire control systems which means LRF (!!!) with the exception of the the T-62-1972. This can be seen in the Damage Report Tab, which lists no 'Targeting' system. (at T54B, T-55 and T-62-1972).
What's the point of all of this? How does it matter?
LRF is a reason why modern tanks aim so fast and precise.
We have only T-62-1972 as a mobile tank without LRF in the game.
From a wargamer perspective it would be nice to have have a second mobile 'low tec' tank model in the game.
So, pleeeeease battlefront, give us mobile T-55-1970 with NATO modul.
