  1. No pop-ups here too, (with heavy security customized add-one firefox).
  2. I now play CM-PBEM since years. Started wargaming with Close Combat 2 and Steel Panthers, recruited for CM with the Riesberg CMBO-Beta and joined the CM-PBEM front with CMBB, then CMAK and now CMSF and CMA. For CMSF and CMA I have now 4 opponents since 3 years (2x USA, 1x UK and one guy in Austria, who send daily their turn or more to me (+ Syrian defense camping testing for our Russian Kameraden)). All in all I have 5 pbem + 1 test battle against AI going on in the moment. It's daily routine to get up early and start the day with my CM turns. Only slight annoyance is, that CMx2 engine still has problems with graphic/memory, especially when alt-tabing to desktop to handle mail program. Huge battles can take to play a month or two (or 3 ... or ... 5-6), but with time one gets used to plan ahead. And it teaches you to hold patience. Of course there are hard and frustrating moments. I remember to have used a weekend for setup and then a week or two for advancing in a well-thought-out defense position as Red SYR against Blue USMC only to see my plans pulverized by enemy CAS in 3 - 4 turns. *** But on the other hand, all pain is forgotten on the days, when you sit in your armchair before the monitor with a Hannibal Smith "I love it when a plan comes together" - grin on your face... *** In real live, I remember to have known already as a little kid: "poor naive souls, who join an army - they will have to learn this lesson in this live". Anyway, I've slayed the Red Dragon in Dungeon Master, played The Great Giana Sisters to the end and solved Wizardry 7. I've done it all. But there is no other computer game apart from Combat Mission PBEM which gives you THIS feeling. ...And I still have the feeling that I don't know all about CM. There is always room to improve your tactics. Best tip is to take time, go to the ground and think about what would be best for your Pixel-Truppen (and Pixel-mothers/wives) in the situation.
  3. No the FaceOfSyria mod was made by Denis. My mod contains the original stock faces + FoS faces + baklava masked variants of this + gas mask face. If you use my mod, it should overwrite the other faces, but better remove the other mod or explode my mod and renumber as you wish. (Or use z-bee mod manager). Regular inf will not affected, also not airborne troops. It changes only the SF. It's made for urban ops in mind, but it also 'looks good' in rural.
  4. You can always unpack .brz files with the explode option in the Mod Tools of your CMSF folder.
  5. Thank you very much Adam. More detail explanation: It changes Syrian Special Operation Forces camouflage from standard black to blue urban (with dust + blood variants). ALL Syrian SOF + 'Normal forces' [Reserve + Regular ( + mechanized + REP Guard + Airborne Forces (uses same uniform textures as Mech + REP Guard) will get the FacesOFSyrian mod + FacesOFSyrian mod 'improved' by me (Gas Mask face + masked faces). So there is no reason to worry using this mod !!! ALL your Syrian forces will look better. Syrian SOF have a camo that is maybe not 'grogish - true real live' but fits them best in an environment they would most probably deployed to. If you use this mod, - all of your other Syrian Forces will look better too. No loose option here. :-)

  7. Good work. Thank you. Only heavy moded CM is good CM. [flack vest on ... and /off] Nice idea.
  8. Ok, I bite. Send it to me... -> mi.wolff1@gmx.de But I have 5 PBEM battles going on and a hard 'real' live. So I can send you only 1 comment about a turn pro day (at best). If you choose to sent to my e-mail account, say what is important to me to report to you. Gruß Micha
  9. That was intended to be my next project, but this time you where faster. Looks perfect, couldn't have done it better. Very well done.
  10. That and the UI-map + the whole setting. But Ali-Baba is not wrong. Graphics could be better. On the other hand, the most important point are the game mechanics in CM, graphics was always second. In the end we must take, what we get.
  11. CMA with Hardenberger's Bushes and Tree textures mod I would say that CMx1 pic is not CMBB but CMAK and the CMA pic is from the demo.
  12. Very good work again Scipio. That is the one, i was waiting for. Thank you very much. But I hope you will give out a complete version as time goes on? AKM/GP-30, Type56, PPSh, G3, SMLE MKIII, Bren L4 etc. ... Edit: uups, it's all there . My mistake installed wrong version
  13. I will for sure do it, but probably only for myself. Reason is, that I usually mod the uniforms to as much diversity as possible (the same texture again and again [and again...] but with different dirt/blood effects applied). That means the file gets really big and the loading time goes up exponentially. To load a CMSF scenario with my heavily modded installation takes 5-7 minutes. That's fine with me because I'm used to it. But I don't think much people will accede with this. Thought about to post my main Syrian infantry mod, but as I saw the file size (over 200 MB), I dropped the idea.
  14. I don't really care for campaigns. Played CMSF almost every day now since release, but NEVER finished a campaign and only played some single player missions. It's all about PBEM. That's the real front.
  15. Had this problem too some time ago. I just created a new account. If I try to reply to a post in the forum, while not logged in, it ask for login but seems to not accept it. But if I then go to the main forum page, I'm logged in after all. Indeed strange.
  16. I think both pics are post 1990. (digital camera). First is for sure not 80's. (US 3 Color Desert and M4). Can't really belief Mujahideen had that much eastern block clothing before 1989/90. Has DDR sent 'help' to Communist government of Afganistan short after 1978? Don't know. But they sent rain drop camo to SWAPO in the 1980s.

  18. Combat Mission Shock Force (Base) ++ Syrian SOF Blue Urban Camouflage + Faces ++ by Smaragdadler - this mod changes Syrian SOF and adds FACES FOR ALL SYRIAN FORCES !!! + much dirt effects + blood/wounds This mod uses elements from: * FacesOfSyria mod by Denis * Syrian Army Ragtag mod by Birdstrike Sample Pictures: Soon available at the Repository in the Combat Mission Shock Force/Base Game/Mods/Uniforms & Weapons folder. Comments welcome. Thank you.
  19. Do I see a trouser in Strichtarn on this pic? (aka East German-"Rain Pattern"). Maybe a Polish or Czechoslovakian variant. Or South African copy? Seems I have to make a v2.0 version of my mod.
  20. Battle of the Old City and Badinni Dilemma are very good USMC vs. Red scenarios. Should be at the Repository.

  22. My very first published mod ever: Combat Mission: Afghanistan + US M81 Woodland/Ragtag camouflage for Mujahideen and Tribal Militia forces + made by Smaragdadler - changes Digi-Camouflage for Mujahideen to US M81 Woodland - adds additional jacket color variant + M81 trousers and jackets - different combinations for Ragtag-look - adds new face variants. Sample pictures: Soon available at the Repository in the Combat Mission Afghanistan folder. Comments welcome. Thank you.
  23. I hope for simulated fog fields in depressed areas at latest for the Bulge-module.
  24. Nahverteidigungswaffe? ... meh, only second. (but I wrote it correct) means "Closedefenseweapon" by the way...
