I think the Company HQ team is good to use too when ..... well I hope this hasn't been already mentioned ... but to use if the Platoon's HQ gets wiped out or severely weakened or it you want to sneak a squad out away from the rest of the platoon you can send the Company HQ with them to keep them warm and fuzzy but probably many tactical combat strategists would frown on this.

Ok so I recently used Macrium Reflect to reimage my drive or whatever its called I backup up an image of my C Drive and then later after my C drive got all filled up and cluttered I used Macrium Reflect to get it back to the way it was. But then everything I have done since then can get lost but then everything I do I put on a different drive than my C drive so actually I do not loose anything but anyway the pc came with a solid state drive of the size of about 110 gigs which is small but when I reinstalled Normandy on my other drive which is not a solid state drive it was all clunky and slow and I would get minor screen freeze and stutters but then when I uninstalled it and put it onto the SSD drive - the C: drive it runs just peachy again and always had when I had it on the C drive before I tried using it on the other non solid state drive just to see what would happen and I found out it stinks cause my pc is slow I guess but with the ssd drive it runs great. So maybe if you want to do an upgrade for the new year one thing to consider is a SSD drive I have heard that this is one of the most significant speeder upper things one can do to a pc which can make a big difference. This is what I have notice the ssd drive later I added other drives as well but they are not ssd I got this rig in January 2012

I was choosing Infantry only in the QB battle selection - try it for yourself airborne infantry does not become available as a choice it does though it you choose - MIX or if you choose Airborne Infantry --- If you choose Airborne Infantry then that is the only choice you get. so the best choice is probably Mix that way you can get airborne and other infantry of course if you allow the defender to choose mix also then the defender could have Armour too - I play a lot of infantry only so I have to make sure I choose mix or airborne and make sure the enemy only gets to choose infantry or I get Armour vehicles if I allow them to choose mix .. But interestingly choosing Infantry Only does not allow airborne choice again .... try it for yourself.

I get a paratroop choice if I use the editor but it seems if I do a quick battle no paratroop choice ,,,

I restored the image of my harddrive and then reinstalled Normandy by first installing the base game of Normandy then the 2.0 upgrade then the 2.11 patch. It would not activate but I was using the key they gave me with the original game of Normandy finally I ran across and tried the key I got with the 2.0 upgrade and it works fine.

Whilst in the Repository and looking at the Totally Fantastic list of possible scenarios one can download I noticed at the beginning of the Name of the Scenario their is an Icon .... What do these mean ... ??? Icons such as a helment, bullets, more bullets, a magnifying glass. ????

Good Idea ... Great Idea about disallowing saved games to be loaded at all - I think this is the best option it will motivate us to upgrade wisely ..... when and how needed as you mentioned.

Verdun 1916 - In my opinion Norton was a great antivirus software towards the beginning of the home pc way back when however nowadays most people find it a headache - I think AVAST is the way to go I use the home free version and have no problems with anything ever I just love it.

Nice pic above the LOS is a pain in the neck but adds to the realism of FOW and the headache of battle. It seems to me the AI knows the perfect spots on the map to get to for great LOS but then at times they do a simple "Russian Human Wave tactic" which usually decimates their units. Lately my latest tactic is to (I play on turn based mode) put a move order (between moves) where I know an enemy unit is that I want to take out then I click on this move order waypoint and click on "target" then I can see all the areas on the map where I need to get to, to get a shot at this unit/area.

The war was over for Germany when winter hit in 1941 !!!! and the Germans had not at this point taken Russia - the Germans basically stalled, went on the defensive, and lost when on the offensive and Russia simply had to build up their forces with no threat of defeat and then use their forces when they felt like they were ready to push Germany out of Russia at their leisure and then go into Germany. The icing on the cake was when Germany declared war on the United States in 1941 this meant that they were doomed. Furthermore, more than likely unconditional surrender at this point was the only outcome anyone at war with Germany considered especially since WW1 accomplished nothing regarding the concept that Germany would live in peace with the rest of the world. The above in fact is my opinion and surprisingly I have actually been completely incorrect in previous opinions regarding life's important observations including but not limited to my concept of CMBN tactics. Another reason the US and others would not have gotten out of the war and allowed Russia and the Germans to duke it out was because they would not have wanted Russia and present day Poland and German to be Communist under the Russian flag which may have during WWII times included Italy and or Norway, the low countries ??? What the allies should have done was communicate secretly with the Germans and allow the Germans and the Soviets to fight it out and for us to not go into Italy or Normandy when we did but rather allow the Germans to hopefully pummel the Russians and we should have not helped out the Russians at all with supplies and shipping but rather hopefully help the Germans to either defeat or severely decimate the Communists. Then we should have entered the war at the last second so to speak stab the Germans in the back so to speak and then occupy Germany and divide up Russia between the French, English, and the US the only tricky part would have been if the Germans would have invented the Atomic Bomb or devised other wonder weapons en masse before we could annihilate them.

Wait a minute hold the phone according to the version 2.11 Manual on page 61 the first paragraph has the sentence, "Anybody that has served in the military, or studied it in historical texts, knows that some people should never have been put in charge of anything except washing dishes (and you don't necessarily want to be the one eating from those dishes). CM dutifully simulates these poor leaders." Therefore, maybe we should not sweat it to much if sometimes they get shot up ..... just kidding.

Regarding moving and firing isn't it called "recon by fire" or something.

Under the Quick Battle screen there is a Force Adjustment option for the Attacker ... Is their any thought to giving one for the Defender too. This way I could be the Attacker and give the Defender a minus Force Adjustment the only way to do this now is for me to instead as the Attacker give myself a Plus amount of Force which puts me out of range of the size and amounts of units I want to contend with.

Ok let me get something for clarification I had done a custom scenario with one German Mark IV tanks and I tried to sneak up on the tank with my bazooka guys from the woods tank in the open. Unfortunatelly, my guys shot at the tank with their rifles and killed the commander lol then the tank drives off and is facing AWAY from me but I could not sneak up real close to it without it driving off so the tank can see behind itself ????? Also, I should have done a shooting ark a small one so my scouts would not shoot at the tank. Then later the tank even drove off when it was on the other side of a building and I was sneaking up on it with the building between us. But it seems to make a difference if I used move order vs hunt order vs a faster order but with hunt order they sometimes freeze and don't move.

Yeah place a waypoint at the next "hex" the next closest spot to put a waypoint using the Hunt command then click on the waypoint and then click on pause and have them pause there awhile say for 15 seconds .. you can even give them a facing too at this way point and I believe have them shoot too. Anyway this allows one to creep along it also allows the player to creep through the battle extending them indefinatelly but I love it

When the Marines were dealing with the Japanese a lot of the Marine Leaders of all positions got taken out same as with a Company I read about during WWII often the privates don't move much and go forward into the attack until a Corporal or Sgt. moves forward that due to the odds of battle eventually gets hit.

In my opinion the thing to go is to go to the Battlefront Website their main home page then click on STORE ..... it reads "Home", "Games", "Store", My Account .... at the top area .. Click on Store at this next page click on "Combat Mission: Battle for Normandy" this is the 2nd icon reading from left to right .. anyway on this next screen you get ALL the different options listed whereas it seems if you click on other areas on there website it only gives you a few bundle options. Now you just gotta figure out which one you want. Assuming you want the pc version the CF by itself is 35.00 and the MG by itself is 35.00 so this is $70.00 total. so I would just get the bundle at the bottom the: Commonwealth-2.0-Market Garden Bundle - this is for $75.00. This way its all in one package and you only pay 5.00 more. Or if you don't think your going to be playing them at the same time just get one of the modules like Commonwealth then get MG later. But assuming Commonwealth is similar to Normandy ... the maps anyway ... maybe just get MG now and Commonwealth later.
