  1. But it would have been great if SlowMotion could have re-created the scene in "Saving Private Ryan" wherein the guys threw maltov cocktails out of the upper windows onto the tank-like vehicle. I would rather throw a grenade or satchel out a window than run up to a tank.... I love it when the satchels go off ... WHAM ... huge concussion and the troops mostly then stand around after that to see what happens next. OH , Oh , I downloaded a campaign .... mostly an infantry one ... anyway so this guy (I didn't realize he had a satchel) ends up next to an enemy soldier that is like in this giant puddle and the enemy soldier is all dazed or something well finally this guy sees him and WHAM this satchel goes off ... MY guy put a satchel charge on him .. lmao.
  2. I finally figured out how to move and shoot. Somehow I stumbled on that I can for example, give a tank a move order then click on the end waypoint and then press target and click on where I want the tank to shoot. I recently have my tank move back about 15 yards and turn around and put rounds into an upper window where a badguy was pinning down my infantry troops... then later I had some of my infantry move up and start spraying a window where a guy shot a Panerfaust out of, that was going for my tank. I am sure this is in the manual but its difficult to connect the dots when they are numbered. Now when I play I will see more than my icons flashing orange all the time as my units are pinned lmao.
  3. SPCWRNGLR, we are in the same boat when I originally played CM Normandy using the demo after having played the original combat mission Overlord, the Ussr one and the desert one I thought that combat mission normandy sucked but it was because my computer sucked after I stumbled upon it again the demo ... AFTER having gotten a lot better computer I was like .... dang, I can't live with out this. I only have CM Normandy I am still disecting it fully and downloading scenarios people make and using mods with it that tweak things about it I use a lot of MORD's Stuff and VEINS Stuff and some others this allows you to tweak it like you want it for example I have Mord's, war ravaged faces, US Flag portraits, no music, Immersive American Voices, and then I have specialty German Voices, then some voices has to much cussing so I dug around and edited those voice files so I don't have my guys saying the Lord's name in vain then the background sound was to darn noisey for me and the wind sounds was like I was on top of the Alps all the time to noisey so I tweaked those files and removed all the ambient sounds so until a shot is fired everything is quiet ... just the sounds of the comments of my troops.
  4. The LOS in Combat Mission overall is good except it is also a big pain in the neck but it helps with overall fog of war, realism, replayability etc. Another way to get a feel for it is to have a platoon of infantry that you have on the map that sees something ... meaning when you click on a visible enemy icon it may show for example a platoon of your infantry that sees it (this is best done at the end of a turn in turn based mode - click on DONE then you see an enemy icon click on it and you see one of your platoons of infantry that see the icon) The point to all this is to now click your platoon of infantry and then click split teams you now have 3 separate teams and lots of times only one of those teams can actually see the enemy . The other platoon members or maybe the term is squad members don't see it but if you target it with the entire platoon (before you split them) the guys that don't see it will still fire in the general direction. This LOS stuff must be a headache playing in real time mode. I only play in turn based. What helps most is to just target the area according to the manual the units will pray and spray to the left and right of where the targeting line shows up. One other off the wall point when I play an online shooter like Battlefield 2 but actually the Project Reality Mod our squad will be running around and one of us will say something like "enemy 9 oclock next to the building at the tree" and invariably (and these are real people online ) someone will say where I don't see em. Then someone says just shoot over there (cause in PR you can suppress the enemy) so point is the los is actually quite realistic in my opinion but it gets on my nerves but then one can play in the Rookie mode too.
  5. I saved over a file or did something similiar I picked my own text but it was the same or similiar to other quick battle files anyway it read ... once I tried to load a saved quick battle game ... it read something like I need the Market Garden module thing to play these files ... I don't even have the market garden thing have always had Normandy thats it lmao. Anyway, I started a new Quick Battle and saved it with a completely new file name and am having no problems at all.
  6. Lot of people seemingly worship the APPstore and Apple computers but they have a giant vortex black hole sucking out all things decent relating to gaming where one enjoys oneself and unwinds and basques in the shine of an online community so it quite puzzles me that many seem to be convinced that the Apple Computer meets every computing need there ever was or ever shall be.
  7. Good Job Dane checking out the fine print glad your using your head that God gave you. Take Care, and we'll see you at the purchase screen.
  8. Must be your computer buy a new one ... just kidding. Assuming the bridge is for vehicles which I am sure it is and you know that .. then I guess one solution is the stand - by fix for all things aggravating SAVE AND SAVE OFTEN ... meaning save your game often other than that the manual seems to indicate on page 41 of the version 2.11 manual that with vehicles in tight areas use slow movement and put a few more waypoints and to avoid 90 degree turns. However, maybe you did all of this.
  9. First place a healthy tank on the map where you want it to be burning or destroyed. Then go back and choose the proper status to make the tank burning or to be destroyed. If you purchase the tank and destroy it or burn it .... at the same time that you purchase it .... when you get to the map you will not be able to move it. Only read the stuff below for a complete explanation. On the Scenario Editor Unit Purchase Screen on the bottom of the screen are all the wonderful options one can use to choose specifics for various units. When dealing with vehicles one has the option under the "Vehicle Status" drop down menu to choose either "Immobilized", "Destroyed", or "Burning". The thing to do is to first Purchase a healthy normal tank of some sort, then click on Deploy (Axis or Allied) depending on which country the tank is from that you purchased - Now when the map pops up you can place this healthy tank anywhere you want.... Once this is done go back to the Purchase Unit screen for the tank you just placed on the map in a particular spot, for example a German Medium Tank (PzIV) you would go to the German Purchase Screen and then under the Vehicle Status menu choose Destroyed or Burning. when you go back to the map using the German Placement you will see your tank burning or Destroyed which is empty and just sitting there. If you choose Burning when you buy the tank and then go to the deployment screen - the map, you will not be able to move the tank it will probably be on the edge of the map you must place a healthy tank and then move it then destroy or burn it so it will work. This is the whole point of this long pathetic post. First place a healthy tank on the map where you want it to be burning or destroyed. Then go back and choose the proper status to make the tank burn or to be destroyed. One last thing more than likely an immobilized tank can be moved anywhere because the crew is in it or maybe not I have not tested this.
  10. What a great mod to look forward to Thanks for all your work and for posting the pics Looks just super. Can't wait but don't rush it unless the Jerries are getting close to Antwerp Happy New Year Stud.
  11. I finally stumbled upon a way to easily undo an improper terrain map hex placement ...... meaning I was putting in some Light Forest Terrain on the map I was editing and as per usual I put some where I did not want them ... Usually, after doing this mistake I would pick the actual terrain I want for the hex, and click here and there and on this and that to change it but I figured out I can just Right Mouse Click (RMB) on the hex I screwed up on and it changes it back to where it was Everyone knows this perhaps but it is a welcomed encounter..... it is a shame so many dense caveman type people like myself are allowed to buy great computer games and then do something pointless in an editor like this and then talk about it on the forums lol. Now I won't panic when editing a map. Happy Hunting
  12. Remember the original combat mission beyond overlord your units would run out of ammo after 1 small heated exchange with the enemy. we have come along way but we still need Eisenhower to decide whether Monty or Patton is going to get the supplies and to release them. Scenarios should have the Red Ball Express going through them .. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Ball_Express There should be Jerrycans littered all over the battle field lol
  13. Yeah about the best thing to do is to tweak when possible the game to your liking when I can I add about twice or more time to a battle like when I download a scenario but campaigs are harder to tweak like that I think.
  14. I think another fix is to just find the video and delete it that way you don't have to fool with the v key etc.
  15. Don't forget about clicking on a unit and pressing the TAB key it takes to the unit for a close in shot.
  16. akd, uh, ... they don't auto email licensed users when a patch comes out do they ... I guess we need to not be so lazy that we don't check in with the webby site.
  17. Thanks for all the great info have been away from keyboard.
  18. Here is a free .wav program for those wanting to tweak any wave files. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ what I needed to do was to open a .wav file (wave sound 1.wav) and copy it into another wav file (wave sound 5.wav) but leave the name the same so that the wave 1 sound is now in the wav 5 sound file. so among other things it allows you to do that.
  19. What is the deal with these Ben Q monitors http://gaming.benq.com/ Are they worth it or is it better to spend money on a better graphics card. I'm currently using a GeForce GTX 560 ti and a Samsung SyncMaster 2233 it has 20,0000:1 whatever and is 3d vision ready but I dont use that. But the speed thing I think is the big advantage with the Ben Q's.
  20. I downloaded version 2.0 cmbn I think I saw there is a mortar machine gun problem wherein mortars and machine guns will easily deploy even though one tries to deploy them in the open I am having problems now with this .. is this a version 2.0 problem ??? Thanks .. should I just update to the latest non version 2.0 ???????????
  21. OH wow I gotta make a campaign script file and a core units file and maybe other stuff to compile the .btts that got extracted ok will work on that later gotta go do a single battle need to blow something up
  22. Hey Mikey, I created a separate directory copied the campaign file into this directory and the two key files ... CMBN_Scen_Organiser_v0.22.jar and sorttable.js ... then everything popped up and I have all the *.btt files of each scenario .. ok so let me go off on a limb here I can just edit each scenario individually and then put all of those scenarios into a campaign and then I have an edited campaign right ????
  23. MAD MIKE !!!! Thanks champ that is perfect I am finally back able to continue the WAR from dealing with the pleebs in my life. I'll check it out sounds great.
