But your entire argument around the camera controls is that it is unlike total war type games. That doesnt make the control in those better - it just makes them the ones you are used to. Personally I there are things I like about the camera controls in CM that other rts games dont have - and things that rts games have that cm doesnt. However I dont really play realtime in CM any more so I dont really notice it. But again - its all a question of resources. I personally cant remember the camera controls in CM1 being any different - but then again it didnt have realtime - perhaps that is the main difference and why you notice it more. Personally I freaking hate the camera controls in Total war.

Well that doesnt make any sense - if that WERE the case - I wouldnt have been complaining in the first place. The whole OP was based on the fact you can - and people were.

its still a crap system. I presume the issue is that if they offered pre orders for the download only option they would get less orders for the hardcopy. That smells just a little as its not a lower commitment to the game just a lower commitment to a different type of media. I guess they get a lot of people ordering the mail version that otherwise wouldnt simply so they avoid this situation. Still - the thing is out a lot earlier than I thought it would be so its swings and roundabouts ...

Freaking hell I hate that - I would preorder it no problem but I dont want the mail option. What is the issue with BF offering preorders to download only ... should be pointed out that there is a press release at the wargamer saying the game is out - when in reality it damn well isnt ...

Cant see the download in the store - theres nothing on the front page ... so WTF is it ? or is this another case of ?@><?: mail pre orders getting it early ?

Well - no really - see he spread so much bile about this game - if anyone had actually listened to him - as I suspect a few did - he could have really damaged it and battlefront. If he wants back in he will have to man up and earn it. As mord said - creating content for the game is a start - but they are only the first steps along a very long road.

I think its his way of admitting BF were right all along ... I have had some fights with him in another place over this game and to have him now creating scenarios for the game seems like the height of hypocrisy frankly... either that or the CM equivalent of feasting on humble pie

Well - frankly I could give a toss what you do. Just dont get the point of a post like that. They are Icons - they are AIDES to see where your men are - they are not the whole bloody game and to say the whole thing is useless because of it is - to say it mildly - probably the most facile critique of a game I have ever seen. If you dont like the real time click fest as you put it - then pause - or - jeez ... why do I even need to point this out ... play turn based doh...:mad:. The simple fact is that most of the reasons people think CMx1 was better was that it was less detailed, less difficult, less nuanced than the new one. All exactly the opposite of what I would expect from an improved game.

Well - I guess its ok ... still one of those with selective amnesia those as to all those things the new one does but the old one didnt. And again another who seems to expect the world in a box (and to achieve things AI wise that even the military cant) for 40 bucks. I guess I appreciate more what I have than what I want. Well - to qualify what I said - a lot of players have it loaded. To be honest - personally I like the mods but they (apart from some of the sound mods) are never really game changers for me. Honestly - as you say, the originals were outstanding in any case. As for the "Big thing" I reckon it is market garden - its been secretly worked on while CW was running and it will be released tomorrow.

I dont get the freaking moaners in this thread - just dont get them. Interiors of tanks - so what - who even looks at them - to be honest I dont know why BF even bothers with them. Half the stuff you are moaning about I dont even notice. Jeez do you ever actually play the game ? I have seen the models people seem to be complaining about and whilst they do look a bit less detailed again I hardly see it is something to be worried about - after all - any proper player of the game isnt playing with a single original skin BF did for the base game as they have likely loaded up aris' mod in any case - and even as is they are hardly CM1 throwbacks. As for the module not being worth the measly 20 quid I paid for it - personally - I sit here amazed that I get so much for so little. This game is a dream for me - there isnt another game that comes close to giving me what this one does and not another game that I return to or spend as much time with as this one. So BF please ignore the petty - OMG he has got the wrong lapel badge freak outs and add things which are important to the game.

Absolutely - I think the pathfinding is really good now. The only thing I always do is plat two or three angled way points when I want it to make a turn. Not only does it make it work better but if you do it correctly the vehicle doesnt lose speed. Really - I think this guy picked one bad example and flogged the whole game for it. Really I just dont get that attitude. Honestly - 99 times out of a hundred when I plot movement - vehicles pretty much do what I want them to. I dont get the complaining. The only point I see the plotting really struggle is when traffic jams build up. that really the point you need to be careful.

Well personally I think that extremely unfair. If BF had offered a download only Pre order I would have bought it - but I dont want to pay postage and then import tax to get the game - distinctly unamused. The postage to europe is $20 then likely $10 - 15 for tax. So I pay twice the price.

Depending on an optimistic view of when CW will be released.
