  1. I wasnt being cute - and I wasnt incorrect. None of what you say took a single line of computer code the implement the rules. Which was my point. Paper rules and coding it into a computer simulation are night and day in terms of effort and reward for that effort. I could sit here right now and make up a fistful of rules for bridge demolition - but it bears no relevance to the subject that was being discussed.
  2. ...Edited to show those that were in anyway a remotely tactical situation covered by a CM time frame.
  3. So what if you had it in a set of paper rules ? The "coding" for that goes somewhat like - roll two D6 if they equal twelve then Boom. Denigrating CM because it doesnt have this feature is ludicrous. So - even if they wasted their time coding it - why would it be relevant to a tactical situation ? The only way I can think of one is a particular situation where troops have to reach a bridge before its blown up. So by definition if it gets blown up - the game is over - you want a lot of strenuous effort just to see something go bang - and achive something thats do-able in the tools already available. Personally I hope BF dont waste time on this and spend it improving things that are actually at all relevant to a tactical game such as amphibious vehicles. If they just did the boats I would be happy - so we could simulate the Waal crossing and evacuation scenarios. Now thats a lot more relevant than a bridge blowing up as far as MG is concerned.
  4. assault boats ? Well... thats at least relevant to market garden ...
  5. Largest I have seen is 56 meg on the repository ... GAJ site doesnt have a limit I think.
  6. 204 mb Thats too big for the repository isnt it ?
  7. I think I will explode before then ... BF are on steroids.
  8. It may not help you - but I did notice this - however - after turning down the Anisotropic Filtering setting I had to x2 it seemed ok. For what its worth anyway ...
  9. Alt T works fine here also.... maybe its a mac issue ?
  10. I look forward to that - your Italy mod made a world of difference and I miss it. It doesnt seem to work at all with the new terrain structures...
  11. Well Wodin - that depends on what your aim is - get something for free or protect your computer. Despite all the crap thats spouted about norton it consistently rates higher than any of the free tools in independent testing and again despite all the crap independent testing shows that it actually performs better than most of the free tools when it comes down to system speed http://www.av-test.org/no_cache/en/tests/test-reports/?tx_avtestreports_pi1%5Breport_no%5D=124552 http://www.av-test.org/no_cache/en/tests/test-reports/?tx_avtestreports_pi1%5Breport_no%5D=124563 what some people forget is that the norton system has a far more comprehensive suite of protection than most free systems. For the record - avast is not free. It has a free version but so does malwarebytes and almost every other virus etc protection system out there. The free versions are marketing tools for the paidf for versions - so by definition have less protection that the full versions - and so by definition - do not "do the same" - even as far as the paid for versions of their own product goes - let alone any competitor . What you seem not to understand is that whilst it may have been inconvenient for the guy who posted the original issue what norton was actually doing was protecting his system - which is after all the point of the software in the first place. The solution - as I posted was simple - and if the file hadnt been the Gustav line module but a file with a virus that was going to destroy his system he would have been lauding what it did - and neither of the free versions would have done so. Anti virus protection is an inexact science - you cannot specifically protect against a threat before you know what it is - so if norton appears heavy handed sometimes its because thats what its trying to do. And as far as intercepting unkown threats goes - which is what concerns me - I will go with a paid for version every time - simply because they have more to spend on anticipating threats - which again - if you bother to research - Norton has one of the highest ratings of any suite for a home user. Your statement is just another of those tech truisms (such as windows is a piece of crap - eventhough it built a multi billion dollar company and runs 80 % of computers in the world) which people like you repeat without actually having any real evidence to support your assertion.
  12. Mmm... I am pretty sure you only get 10 in the year ... may be wrong though ...
  13. And I thought it was some fancy german ventilation system ...
  14. Right click the Norton icon in your system tray. Click disable anti virus auto protect - download - reenable. The problem with norton comes with their rating system I have found - part of the auto protect is a rating based on the number of other people who have downloaded it. they seem to work on the presumption that if no one else has downloaded it - then they dont know what it is and the safest thing to do is nuke it with no option for recovery. Which I can undestand up to the point of no recovery, its my PC after all and if I want to recover it then I should be allowed to. Generally the commonwealth module gets delted as well when I install that. Odd thing is it never affects the main game - just the modules.
  15. Well - it happens every time .... its annoying - especially when you consider the postage is almost the cost of the game. I can understand the need for physical pre orders - but failing to offer one for digital aswell is simply baffling.
  16. So those of us who dont want an expensive box but who would pre -order are not trusted and loyal customers ?
  17. Well - the golden rule of software development is that the one day it wont be released is the day you said it would be - so maybe you are right....
  18. Yeah - but I think some are taking the 2 days a bit too literally - I am sure he means Monday at the earliest.
  19. CMSF - is a fantastic game - even without all the new bits. All the modules are also well worth the price.
  20. Well yes - but I was reffering to this bit .. it also takes 6 hours to download it.
  21. Well - there aint no fridays in there ... so its another loooooong weekend.
  22. Jeezus ... 6 Hours ? How big is gustav line ? The installer for CMBN was only 1.3 GB ....
  23. there is the courage of desperation ... and then there is the optimism of desperation ...
