  1. It's really good; way more intense than I remember it being. The map is excellent too - really benefits from all the changes to the editor.
  2. Running out of memory? Really? That's a monster map, then. I'm running 6 gig of ddr3 but I was thinking of doubling it. And there I was thinking it was an ATI card issue. I'm going to blame it on the ATI card anyway - I'm looking for an excuse to upgrade.
  3. I find a few squares of 'dirt', 'dirt red' or 'hard' around a gap in bocage or a hedgerow instead of grass tends to help locate the gaps. Bit more realistic too - going to be more trampled than a spot where there isn't a gap.
  4. Got my customs demand like Phil. Same amount. Still, at least it's not what Parcel Force were charging the London crew. Still... Funny. I've had goods shipped from the states for a higher total than this on several occasions with no trouble at all. I'd love to know whether they really do just make it up on the spot. I'd complain but they know where I live.
  5. Who is the carrier? Parcel Force? I'm surprised by this. Where are you anyway, Glasgow area/Lanarkshire or further out?
  6. Yep, adding the various AI plans takes a fair bit of work, but I guess people could upload the blank maps purely for H2H and PBEM use.
  7. West of Scotland still waiting as well looks like. Difficult to tell whether it's that the parcel hasn't arrived at the depot yet or whether the postie is being a fanny - He has been known to skip our tenement when he can't be bothered.
  8. Lol..I remember that one. It's the most useful guide to military designations I've ever read.
  9. It's £15 for the subscription fee I think.
  10. This will mean we will have had Chance encounter for every single CM game - except Afghanistan as far as I know. Hmmm, there's a project...
  11. I find with Google Earth that if you look close enough you can sometimes work out where the old hedgerows used to be. It's quite hard to fully obliterate centuries of earthworks and the scars are often still visible from aerial shots.
  12. Thanks for that. I just played a fantastic QB on that map: Company v company. Some StuGs, some Shermans and a battery of long toms... with the speakers up the neighbours must have been wondering what was going in when that first fire mission came in!
  13. Luckily the area I'm using for the basis of the map I'm knocking up just now is fairly flat so I don't have to worry too much about it, but the point about using lightly dotted contours is one i've been working since SF and always found it works well with the way the editor does it's stuff. I've never even looked at the polygon stuff in GE before. To be honest I'm not even sure where to start. Maybe a few of us relative topo-noobs (to coin a term!) could talk on one of you guys with the mad skillz into a step by step tutorial if you ever get enough spare time? I think it's something the community could well benefit from. But thanks in the meantime for the polygon pointer. The GF is away tonight so I can sit down and have a good look at it. You never know - something might just click.
  14. I'm working on a couple of maps just to get some practice in. I'm jumping between google and the editor in an attempt to get the correct look for things like complexes of farm buildings and the interplay between urbanised areas and country side particularly the point at which farmland ends and villages begin. It's fun. Nothing historical so far but once I'm confidant enough who knows. I'd like to eventually do a set of scenarios based on the battles of the 2nd Seaforth Highlanders based primarily on the accounts found in the book 'Battalion'. Even though I'll obviously have to wait for the next module to get the correct troops I don't imagine there will be enough changes to the editor content to preclude me starting the maps now. The biggest problems I'm having -and I imagine I'm not alone - is getting the correct elevations into the map. Without decent topo maps it feels awfully hit and miss.
  15. Yes, it does. Am I right in thinking it is only people in the London area who have been hit for this charge, and that the carrier was Parcel Force? I wonder if a complaint to either Royal Mail, Customs or an Ombudsman might yield some positive outcome - especially in light of the fact no one else in the country seems to have had to pay it. I haven't been downstairs to check the post this morning but as I am expecting it I doubt it will be there. I expect it will turn up when I least expect it.
  16. They have an inscription on them other than 'All your base are belong to us'? I shouldn't laugh. I had an iPhone which i loved. Now I have a Samsung Galaxy Idiot (I think it's called) and I want my iPhone back.
  17. No, Desktop to Laptop. I don't really have any need to to this, in fact, but I was just curious whether it was possible. Interesting. Thanks for the information.
  18. Oh you rascals, living in the future! It looks quite smart and I'll just assume the techno-gubbins aren't witch-craft. I wish I could convince myself that I actually need an iPad. Just a thought, could I do the same sort of thing with my lappy instead of a desk top?
  19. Mine was apparently shipped on the 18th too but still no sign of it in glasgow. I'm not especially worried. If I still haven't received it in a week or two i'll start worrying. Would be nice to have it here safe and sound but i'' already playing the game and that's the main thing. Thank god for downloads.
  20. While i'm sure you're right i find it odd that it's never happened whilst i'm actually playong the scenario where it runs flawlessly, and it only goes all grateful dead about half the times i open it in the editor. My gpu is an ATI 4870x2 which, whilst being a couple of years old, still has plenty of grunt when it comes to running everything else. I wonder.... Has anyone with an nvidia card had this issue?
  21. I got exactly the same thing when opening this scenario in the editor. Doesnt happen every time but on a couple of occasions it's gone on to crash the game. It's a strange one because i dont think i've seen it happen witu any other scenarios - not yet anyway.
