  1. Has BF thought about making Setup times and Packing Up times variable? They're fixed now, right? And letting experienced/motivated crews perform these duties faster- usually.
  2. As many have remarked, the purchasing system is unfixable. And Battlefront has given up fine tuning it. Can't there be, in some future version, a way permitting users to upload their own schemes? Like mods? We're just talking about spreadsheets...
  3. Devils advocate, courtesy of Elvis Presley: why buy the cow when you can milk her through the fence?
  4. Yeah! Combat Mission: Sutjeska! Get your credit cards ready! Seriously, I look forward to the EF, but not especially the final year and the Soviet Steamroller. Mind, I understand why BF is going backwards.
  5. It'd be cool if these weapons teams could lose their arcs once they scored a successful hit. And zap the bailing and panicked crew members. (Does wargaming make one a better person?)
  6. You're right. The CAs suffer from excessive opacity and cannot, apparently, be modded to a more eye pleasing- and functional- transparency. Setup Zones pose the same visual issues but at least these disappear after Turn 1. Argh! Battlefront!!!
  7. Why 'away' from the enemy? Side note: Rifle squads will fire at greater volume given high experience and an HQ in proximity. When they start to run low on ammo they appear to get pickier with their targets.
  8. Yep. It's no doubt trickier to code than we realize.
  9. Pointless busywork in an ideal world. Only rarely should one be able to determine an enemy's unit affiliation. Or know if it's an HQ, an FO, or even a mortar team given sufficient distance. And this scheme works gangbusters when playing the AI. Steve mentioned addressing this months ago.
  10. You're right about that. CMSF encouraged an exceedingly cautious, anal-retentive mindset. Preserve your forces! Careful with the built up areas! And it suffered from the absence of a surrender mechanism; Third World armies tend to throw in the towel a lot.
  11. You're fortunate to be taking on the AI. That tower would be Target No.1 against a human player.
  12. Re: machine guns. I tried replaying Mission 1 of the Montebourg campaign. Before I simply Quick moved the troops to the depressions. This time it was bloody. One of the German MGs caused nine casualties.
  13. Yes. Playing that- forget the name- scenario with the 'autumn' graphics. Not elsewhere. http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=108472&highlight=ballet
  14. But there's a claque of players who want- really want- SOPs. In other words, more micro-management! Don't you care about them?
  15. Which is why there will never be snow tracks, or any kind of tracks, for AFVs in any CM game: to much free intel for the other side.
  16. Maybe. But I wonder about the plausibility of on map mortars performing sophisticated missions like linear bombardments beyond turn 1. In the pre-satellite, pre-laptop era
  17. CM1 had Borg Spotting. Once an enemy unit was spotted the info was passed on to every friendly.
  18. It's a shame you can't make the Commander dismount alone- with his binocs. CM 3.0?
  19. Even if I tell 'em to? You wonder if the order had been Target Briefly. Maybe two shells versus one?
  20. Did an interesting test. An Elite PZIV crew and a Green crew performed area fire for several turns. They both started with 42 HE shells. At the end the Elite tank had 11 shells left, the Green 22.
  21. With each successive degradation on the track bar they get slower. At least on Fast and Move. Doesn't seem to effect turning, however.
  22. Or that Windows 7 no longer supports fog tables...
