  1. EUR 5,- * 8 hours * 5 days = EUR 200,- a week. OR ~800-900 a month. I hope that's after tax AND that you aren't paid in euro's Over here people get more for doing nothing, although that's about to change probably. It all depends though, when I lived in SE Asia EUR 500,- a month a person is enough to go out to eat 4 times a day and still save money
  2. For a while I've been contemplating doing some AI plans for some fictional battles, because I like fictional battles and most available are historical. Tried the editor since CMSF, made some test scenario's for myself in the past and started a scenario some time long ago. However, map making (visual artistic creativity) is not my thing but logical creativity is. At least, it helps me getting paid so I guess I should be at least technically be able do the AI plan part of new maps. Than I always had the excuse of having not enough time even playing all scenario's, so that's where those aspirations ended. Anyway your 'call for assistance' pushed me to give it a spin, so I'd be interested trying it out and see what I can do- without guarantees of results. One slight problem is that I have never played CMx1, so don't what the scenario was like
  3. Since the end of 2008 I have never played CM on anything else then my 1920x1200 24" monitor. Welcome, my friend. Wow, just came to realize that was a good buy. Samsung 2443bw still going strong after almost 6 years for a mere 250 euro's. No dead pixels either.
  4. Russia made the claim about private military soldiers from a US company in Ukrainian special forces uniforms weeks ago. I didn't see any 'proof', but in my opinion it's plausible. Probably some payments are coming from regions west of Ukraine. In my beliefs it's also plausible Russia is using paid operatives as well in the Ukraine. Hopefully Ukraine moving on the military airfield will stop Russian forces from 'enforcing humarn rights' in the sector. Otherwise CMBS might be more close to reality than CMSF, unfortunately.
  5. Still holed up in the first Soviet Campaign battle so can't comment on the German But regarding tanks showing their backs, I saw the same in the Tank Desant scenario. The stugs kept showing their behind until they spoted my units and later showed their bottom again when retreating. Perhaps it's not possible to give AI orders to retreat in reverse?
  6. "The Russian" is contradicted in the same text many times
  7. Well unfinished art doesn't hurt testing but does hurt promotional material
  8. Enjoyed it too! Won a total victory although I had a lot of wounded truppen. I hesitated going for the high ground and I probably shouldn't have, since that's what cost me so many casualties and total victory was already guaranteed at that moment.
  9. Now that is a bit harsh of a tactic even for a soviet commander
  10. It's a 'preserve' objective. In other words, keep the mine field intact It never occurred to me occupying or touching a minefield would be a sensible objective to push for
  11. I used the mortar to pin/destroy the ATG and MG positions on the Island while I leapfrogged squads over the whole field while trying to suppress the bunker with MG fire from covered positions. When my squads got near to the river (left of the bunker) I regrouped and attacked the bunker from the side. Had do use demo charges for the barbed wire but IIRC the bunker itself evacuated after several hand grenades (and being pinned by MG fire). It worked reasonably well although I took some casualties, the rush over the bridges cost me more casualties IIRC. If I would play the mission again I would use smoke to conceal a massive push up until the river, then take out the bunker while calling for fires on positions on the island with LoF/Los on the bridges.
  12. Probably because of the release of CMRT, people are busy
  13. The container also serves as the platoons vodka supply storage.
  14. Cheers all, kudos to the map designer! Yes the SU-76's are stationary and firing on enemy positions while some troops advance along them.
  15. *** Slight Spoiler*** During the last mission of the training campaign was the first time I didn't fear a spotted Tiger since CM:BN. In the briefing it was mentioned and when I discovered it I had 7 T-34-85 in 2 groups covering both flanks of my Infantry assault. Then when I got the IS2's I used them to stalk the Tiger from the front and after a non penetrating 122mm hit the tiger reversed showing it's flanks to my t-34's and ISU-152's to the effect of many large hit decals. Now compare that to spotting a Tiger as the Western Allies. Sure you can take it out with sneaky flank shots or Firefly's and the like, but it's a whole different ballpark. I also found out why Stugs were the most German produced vehicle as a 152mm AP round ricocheted away on its frontal armor (lower part IIRC). Loved that hit decal too!
  16. Ok Cheers for the advice, I'm going to have to lead with my sappers I guess. Somehow I thought them of too valuable to 'discover' minefields... ehh I mean breaching them with flesh and bones Or I might just push my rifle battalion forward and let the sappers follow closely behind. Apart from sweeping a field with detectors I am not inside to the knowledge of how to clear a minefield, let's hope I will never really have to learn ;-)
  17. Does 'blasting' mines with satchel charges work? I'm a bit confused by the first soviet campaign mission as to how to find and 'breach' the enemy minefields reported.
  18. Was wondering the same: is 'breaching' minefields to be taken literally, as in using satchel charges to blast a way through?
  19. Ssshhhttt!!! I was planning on keeping this secret to myself
