  1. "A log" is pretty standard issue on Soviet tanks I've noticed.
  2. Don't know but in real life there is gun cam footage of P-47s (probably) setting a tiger's engine on fire by bouncing the shots off the ground and into the underside of the engine (I'm skeptical of this claim though, it's probably just hitting the fuel tanks). Given the high detail of the damage and armor system in the CMx2 engine (individual parts have their own armor instead of just armor "areas") and detailed ballistics it could be possible to do that or atleast have various weak points where bullets can get in. For instance the engine of the tiger is in a bullet proof casing too thick for .5 bullets to go through but there are fuel tanks next to it that have less protection, this should be able to be modeled in the engine if I understand what BFC has said about it right.
  3. I've never seen any kind of sound spotting in CM:SF (never ever!). I even tested it a couple of times, had a tank fire it's gun and drive around next to a tall wall but the infantry on the other side didn't get any "?" or contacts.
  4. The tracers don't stop where the round stops in CM:SF from what I've seen, well they do but the "bullet" isn't at the end of the tracer it's more in the middle. So when it hits something and stops you can see half of the tracer sticking out in front of the hit point. The best way to track shots is to watch the little hit explosions as it goes through something. In the above shot the bullet appears to have gone through the back tray door, through the gunner, through the drivers head rest area, missing the driver (or maybe about to hit the driver?) and then it'll go out the windscreen.
  5. Ya gotta watch out for those shell proof bushes!
  6. I've got a question that I haven't seen yet: Will we be able to hitch guns onto trucks and apcs?
  7. The Strykers use multi spectral smoke in CM:SF so they can't see through it.
  8. Oh Snap! Besides most of the IDF equipment is the same or similar to US gear.
  9. On a Intel 9550 2.8ghz, 4 GB (on xp though) and a 9800gtx+ I don't get as bad as 6-16 but it's still pretty bad. The auto detect puts everything on max but I need to turn off shadows, HDR and SSAO to get it to run ok (that's with no additional strain from AA since it doesn't work). The trouble spot for bad framerates is in and around the town in the demo mission, away from there the framerate runs much better.
  10. You've got to be real careful with buildings in CM:SF. I don't know if it'll be patched but a unit in a building that hasn't fired is almost invisible, even to the best detection systems. They can even run around on the roof and won't be spotted by infantry/tanks/whatever looking right at them a 100m away (they can throw grenades too), units lose this ability if they fire their weapns or are spotted (ussually requires you walk someone into the same room as them). It makes buildings very dangerous as you can't spot units in them until they shoot at you or you force them to leave with area fire.
  11. I guess it would have to with flamethrowers being present.
  12. http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=86397&page=2 "Better effects for burning vehicles is something planned, though I don't know when we'll get it in." He didn't say it was a priority but it's in the pipes.
  13. Good job, been trying to get a save game of the bug for a while.
  14. It already is according to BFC on one of the WW2 CMx2 threads.
  15. Both tank types on that mission have IR sights but only the T-90 has the IR blocking smoke last time I played it.
  16. Ahhh so it is using a funky rendering type. Apparently DX10 (DX10 games not just the card) can run MSAA with deferred shading but I've never seen any tests to prove it. You can try forcing Quincunx AA (with Nhancer) which will work but it works by blurring everything so I don't like it much. Another one that sometimes works here is Super sampling AA instead of Multi sampling, it it works it looks better than MSAA but is more performance intensive.
  17. I wonder if TOW2 uses "Deffered Rendering" (Dun dun dunnnnnn!) which prohibits the use of AA but gives you better render performance (I prefer AA).
  18. While I haven't seen the launcher seperate off like that I've often seen Bradleys fire their TOWs in the wrong direction and miss.
  19. I don't think "uber tech" would be the word to describe Hard kill defence, the Soviets have had the same system for their tanks for decades known as "Drozd" and "ARENA". "Trophy" was going to be bought from Israel by the US but then they decided not to because they're making their own one now "Quick Kill" (which is very fancy pants because it uses little missiles that shoot out and blow up on the proectile instead of just spraying fragments at it).
  20. Does the LOS become blocked as it goes over the edge of one of those buildings, I can't tell from the shot. I've encountered that bug a couple of times, as you aim over particular places of the wall of a building it blocks it for no reason.
  21. Thanks for the infos! I thought of another question about the CMx2 engine: Can each part on a vehicle be given its own armor rating? Fixing that CMx1 problem where vehicles were too strong on a particular facing (The Stug3 I think had it)? Also adding to the shells tracking through vehicles Q: Is the shell tracked inside the vehicle aswell? So it doesn't disapear when it hits and then re-appears on the other side but actually keeps going through the vehicle hitting "component boxes"? Pretty much like the way ToW models it. Super bonus question: What kind of after armor effects can the engine do now that it's unabstracted?
  22. Sometimes they shoot into the side of the map, well I guess that's what he's refering too.
  23. In CMx2 is the path of a shell that penertrates tracked through the vehicle, damaging things it hits or just up to where it meets the vehicle model and then the effects are done abstracted? Also can weapon in CMx2 fire multiple types of ammo in one burst? Like the Gau-8, is it firing both AP and HE when it attacks?
