H2HH still works for CMFI... Yeah!!
sburke replied to Reaper28's topic in Combat Mission Fortress Italy
Less complicated than it appears and a fabulous time saver for PBEM. The chat application is also really nice. -
You sure about that in 3d mode? I was never able to do that it was either revolve, nudge or delete.

You Weren't Kidding About August Release.
sburke replied to weapon2010's topic in Combat Mission Fortress Italy
Well beware as you are starting to set expectations really high. You are supposed to set them low and then surprise people when they aren't quite so bad. As it is now you are feeding the already ridiculous level of "we want it yesterday". Is the MG module out yet? -
Is the finance issue short term or long term? If short term I'd get CMFI now. You get version 2 features and some pretty incredible stuff from the BF team including the scenario designers. If a long term issue, then I'd go with the earlier suggestion to try the demos and see what you like. CMFI/CMBN and CMSF are all very different, but all have very unique and very cool stuff to offer.

Well I'd feel for you, but I pre ordered and I am stuck traveling so i can't DL I at least get a little box for my troubles.

Sherman performance... again.
sburke replied to Paper Tiger's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Without seeing your actual turns it is difficult to comment, but relative spotting and state of units can lead to a whole lotta stuff. In my first PBEM I had a JPzIV crest a hill, get the jump on a Sherman that had already been battered a bit. It then took on another Sherman that was facing a different direction buttoned up. All this while the chaos of battle roared around all. http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=98975&page=2 -
Will the FEB be represented in a later module?

and how did he light it without hands?! -
Considering the usual garbage that passes for entertainment on the boob tube, I'd say the Olympics are blessed relief.

Could you guys please keep the door closed? You're letting all kinds of vermin in. Different than the vermin you already have. -

Well he didn't include all the incurred costs. Divorce settlements, therapy for CM AA. (Hi my name is sburke and I am a CMaholic). Lost jobs, the electrical costs etc etc...it is actually a really frightfully expensive hobby. -

Actually there were 2 incidents in our battle where a moving vehicle got the drop on a stationary one despite moving in the relative open. In both situations however the stationary vehicle was buttoned up and facing the wrong way. -
Any CMBN/FI fans in southern Ontario??
sburke replied to Tactical Wargamer's topic in Combat Mission Fortress Italy
Well when I was a young bored sprite forced to spend my summer weekends in a trailer camp in Sea Isle City NJ one summer the CSNY version came out and that is what was on the jukebox ALL THE FRIGGIN TIME Besides he asked the title, not the author. What did I win? ...... um.. anything? A free drink if I somehow make that get together? -

Broadsword and I did not find this to be the normal case. I think Broadsword and I both found that if we pulled into the roadway if there is a vehicle already waiting, they would shoot first. Here is a whole Bttn vs Bttn AAR and not one incident I recall where the moving vehicle got off first shot unless it moved up behind a hedgerow. http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=104104 -
sheesh, where are our donkey grogs? Someone mind modding that to a burro? better yet, a mule.

$10, really? We have gotten to be such tightwads we are gonna bicker whether a major upgrade is worth $10? LOL Man I feel for you guys when you have real major investments in your life and you gotta deal with all the BS that goes with them. Hell I'll spend $10 on a lunch that will likely be crappy anyway. -
Did I really see an ad for a new dumb ass reality TV show that Wesley Clark is participating in? And Todd Palin is gonna go play fake army man? WTF? No wonder I never watch tv anymore.

Finally finished up Sept Hope and found it to be a pretty good read. It had the added advantage of delving into some of the actions of the 104th ID in helping to clear the Scheldt. There was also a considerable amount on the commitment of the 82nd and the 101st to "the Island" before their eventual withdrawal into reserve. As far as the debate on who is responsible, the author's position is unequivocally Eisenhower. It doesn't let Monty (or much of anyone else) off the hook. But the author's position is that Eisenhower needed to be telling Montgomery very specifically to concentrate on the clearing of Antwerp and he did not. Lot of detail on the fighting by both American Airborne divisions (this is a book specifically about the American units fighting in MG) and has a lot specifically about the bitter fight in Nijmegen. Worth getting and it is available for the Kindle.
