  1. No way are you putting a link in your sig to a thread about your sig. Ha you think we are total suckers?
  2. I'm with Wodin on this. You want it absolutely clean so that when MG comes out you don't end up with even more odd behavior. time to load game 20 minutes * time to load 1.1 patch 5 minutes * time to upgrade to 2.0 10 minutes * having the game function corrrectly - priceless. (* estimate only, timing can be directly influenced by quantity of alcohol consumed)
  3. If you are referring to this one I would be hesitant to draw any conclusions at all as to what is depicted, state of the building etc. For all we know the entire structure behind the shooter may be gone. They show one guy with a shreck run into a building and then two separate shots at buildings with a shreck and in the middle one guy with a shreck about to fire. Whether that is actually the shot depicted later is anyone's guess. The film jumps at the 20 second mark, a splice for something then immediately jumps to a shot INSIDE the room of the target. In fact from the first 8 seconds if it were live combat footage I'd have to assume the Russians filmed it as the angle of view is actually from the empty shed that the team is about to blow up. Dramatic, and I'd have to say staged and hardly evidence that will sway BF. JK himself admits to being unable to validate it's authenticity or what it actually depicts.
  4. bookmark this, it is pretty much the handbook for posting. Lots of good suggestions about not just how to get the image linked, but how to clean up the image for presentation. http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=97288
  5. GL Released? What's he that wishes so? My cousin heyhellowhatsnew? No, my fair cousin; If we are mark'd to F5, we are enow To do our country loss; and if to live, The fewer men, the greater share of bandwidth. God's will! I pray thee, wish not one gamer more. By Jove, I am not covetous for gold, Nor care I who doth feed upon my cost; It yearns me not if men my garments wear; Such outward things dwell not in my desires. But if it be a sin to covet another module, I am the most offending soul alive. No, faith, my coz, wish not a man from some FPS shooter game. God's peace! I would not lose so much bandwidth As one man more methinks would share from me For the best hope I have. O, do not wish one more downloader! Rather proclaim it, heyhellowhatsnew, through my host, That he which hath no stomach to this refresh party, Let him depart; his passport shall be made, And crowns for convoy put into his purse; We would not F5 in that man's company That fears his fellowship to wait impatiently with us. This day is call'd Monday. He that outlives this day, and comes safe home, Will stand a tip-toe on Tuesday, And rouse him at the name of Battlefront. He that shall live this day, and see old age (Emrys), Will weekly on the vigil feast his neighbours, And say 'To-morrow is Monday. Then will he strip his sleeve and show bruised fingers, And say 'These wounds I had last Monday' Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot, But he'll remember, with advantages, how many times he pressed F5 that day. Then shall our names, Familiar in his mouth as household words- c3k, GaJ and Bil, Womble and that new guy, Slysniper and Vanir- Be in their flowing cups freshly rememb'red. This story shall the good man teach his son; And Monday shall ne'er go by, From this day to the ending of the world, But we in it shall be remembered- We few, we happy few, we bunch of impatient losers; For he to-day that presses F5 with me Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile, This day shall gentle his condition or make him a nervous wreck; And gamers now-a-bed Shall think themselves lucky they were not here, And hold their manhoods (wait, what?!) That checked the battlefront website on Monday.
  6. Coordinator: Crucifixion? Prisoner: Yes. Coordinator: Good. Out of the door, line on the left, one cross each. [Next prisoner] Coordinator: Crucifixion? Mr. Cheeky: Er, no, freedom actually. Coordinator: What? Mr. Cheeky: Yeah, they said I hadn't done anything and I could go and live on an island somewhere. Coordinator: Oh I say, that's very nice. Well, off you go then. Mr. Cheeky: No, I'm just pulling your leg, it's crucifixion really. Coordinator: [laughing] Oh yes, very good. Well... Mr. Cheeky: Yes I know, out of the door, one cross each, line on the left.
  7. LOS and LOF are two very different things. Whether they both use the same rules regarding trees is beyond my pay grade. As I am not getting paid I think you can extrapolate the degree of my knowledge.
  8. Faith- I think no one could say BF skimps on the modules. I am pretty certain you will be very very happy.
  9. Nah Phil is just a bot that Charles created so he doesn't have to come out here and see the rabble that buys his game. *ducks* ouch Phil, just kidding.
  10. LOL okay okay, what's that in Spinty's sig - "Schoolgirls on speed. Shaking, hot, sweaty schoolgirls with torn clothes, long range scopes and a mind to kill"
  11. Fair enough, but how is anyone to know that? We've got our share of all kinds here.
  12. Hehe heh and how anyone would NOT buy a module staggers my imagination. C'mon now CW is $35. Good lord people you'd think BF was stealing your retirement nest egg or something. I figure it this way, if it isn't worth $35 to ya then don't hop on the forum lamenting you don't have x unit available. If it wasn't worth it to buy it then it shouldn't be worth complaining you didn't get it.
  13. What you think this is the Calvin and Hobbes treehouse? Personally I think that would probably be a good thing. Then maybe the few female players wouldn't have to hide their gender to avoid A**holes. And before you suggest there aren't any, perhaps you should reflect on above statement and wonder how you will ever know. If Phil and Normal Dude aren't offended then I don't think any of the rest of us have any right to object.
  14. woohoo! I still remember taking her with me on a trip to Shanghai a few years back during a CS release. There were tons of CS manuals on sale at the bookstores, but they actually "sold" very little product in China.
  15. My wife might be distressed to hear that, she works the beta forum for Adobe Japan on photoshop.
  16. Actually it is all my fault. The original press release said 46 weeks. I accidentally edited it to 4-6 weeks. ND and others have been working like mad to meet that date regardless and all the while eyeing me with pitchforks and sharp knives. You can thank me for it's ultimately super early release, but I expect I will "disappear" soon after once folks have a little time on their hands to decide on where to dispose of the body. Look for my gravestone to appear in some future release as an inside joke amongst the staff.
  17. Yes but of course that is the only time we players would ever use them...
  18. agusto I have to say I laughed long and hard after checking the link in your signature, thanks.
  19. My first PBEM with 2 different opponents was on Bois de Baugin and is still one of my favorites. Won one, lost one, enjoyed the hell out of both. I'd be curious as to how it would play now with some of the changes since CMBN version 2.0 came out.
  20. This is the story of my next door neighbor's kid. Saturday we had a baby shower for my neighbor on the opposite side who just adopted their third child from some lousy drug addict mother who can't seem to remember to use birth control. Emmanuel came walking into the party as if he has had the use of his legs all along. Seeing what this poor kid and his parents have gone though and knowing the progress he has made gave me a better appreciation of costs and benefits.
  21. Okay fair enough. The writing style just grates on me, what can I say. I have seen enough of it that I can't help the gut reaction. Yes it is purely subjective and isn't contributing much if anything, but when I see stuff like that I tend to pass it off as fluff. Unless of course it is St Crispin's Day, then I can't get enough of it.
  22. Okay now that I'd have to go with too.
  23. Depends on the scenario created and the victory conditions set. I do enjoy playing the underdog. I am sure within the overall campaign there has to be some decent last ditch covering force actions that would make an interesting fight. After all, if you look at it only from the big picture you could say - who wants to play the Germans? They take on the countries with the biggest navies and armies with production facilities outside their reach while their own are pummeled by a Bomber armada and have no chance of winning whatsoever. If you check out some of the matrix forums on War in the East, the subject does come up from time to time. (at least it used to, I haven't touched the game now since CMFI came out,- not enough time) The battles are only interesting for a German player until mid to late 1943 and then they fight a losing campaign to stave off the Red Army... being the German player is fraught with issues about knowing you will lose eventually no matter what you do. Getting a German player to continue past the point where they have any offensive capability used to be a problem. From a CM perspective however, we'd fight the war until the fall of Berlin and undoubtedly we will have a scenario on it.
  24. Okay one more time, yes I own the book, I own both the books. (I'll admit I got the second one first as I was more interested in the Bulge fighting at the time I was reading it). I get that there is a quote, I also get that these were young kids indoctrinated in Nazi ideology and their propensity to spout the party line at their faith in their leadership and their cause was absolute. However I take it as a lot of pure idol worship BS that these young men were spouting right before they had their lives thrown away in a meatgrinder of a battle for probably one of the worst causes to fight for in history.
