  1. LOL I'd be a little wary of that one. The losing side will always find some rationale for losing that couldn't possibly be because they were out thought and out fought. That is particularly true for an army that looks on their enemy as subhuman and inferior. There has to be some other reason they won right?
  2. I think you guys are having at least two different discussions. ToE and standard doctrine will give you an idea of what you MIGHT run into. The realities of war mean that you could possibly run into anything. In terms of actual scenario design you have a whole other issue. A designer has to take into account that the AI is a worse player than most humans (I would say all but I'd have to caveat myself in that ). Because it can't really react appropriately nor do any of the myriad things a human player might do to present a better defense the designer is typically left with only one option and that is to beef up the defense. This is the primary reason it is so hard to balance a scenario for the different sides against the AI much less HTH play.
  3. oh man I forgot this scenario, another one from @George MC First off, it isn't you I get the same result. The cause is the sheer number of units. I have never noticed the difference, but generally I never play anything this large. The system is just maxing out as the calculations for C2 and what units can see whom is insane in Iron. Elite doesn't care so much and doesn't generate the overhead in contact icons.
  4. question is determining if they are being shot at or they just notice fire but it is directed at someone else. Hunting up on an enemy who is targeting someone else might become problematic.
  5. Hmm maybe I didn't finish for release. It is up on scenario depot http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/tsd3/cm-black-sea/cm-black-sea-add-ons-maps/ukrainian-crossroads/
  6. Ballsy. Careful with that axe Eugene! A modified version with TF Bayonet mounted in Humvees
  7. What Ian said The way BF does the games now is they generally maintain the full download as fully patched etc so when you purchase a module you have already downloaded all the material (unless the module has been released since you downloaded the game) and then you activate with the licenses from your purchase.... which makes me think of something else. When did you last do a full download? I expect before the battle pack. If that is the case I would DL and run the full installer and the patch as Ian noted. Login to the store, go to my account, my orders - find your CMBS order (a bit of a pain as none on the order page actually names the product. - it helps if you know when you bought it) run the download and that will bring you the most current version of the game and will include the BP. Run that and then the patch. When you launch the game you might just see the BP at that point as you had already run the activation. I have never tried an activation prior to actually having the module so you may need to run the activation again
  8. No worries, just wanted to correct that before the thread went too long I don't know that it is, just a suspicion that it might. As a marketing tool I don't think it has any more value than a demo and less value in that it doesn't just whet your appetite if it has so much material you don't really need to feel you have to buy a full game.
  9. Ukrainian Crossroads. 4.5 x 4 km it is in the scenario folder as CMBS predated the use of a master maps folder
  10. not at all. Go to the folder where you installed the game. You should have an activate new products shortcut. Hit that and apply the license key you have from BF for the battle pack. Should come back and note it was successful and when you launch the game you should see a second icon that looks like an explosion on Blue and Yellow UKR background
  11. they were moved over to scenario depot so nothing lost, but the repository is gone.
  12. That is strange, I have never known that to make any difference at all. You'll need a direct BF response to know if there is anything in the two modes that might influence that.
  13. you are expending a fair amount of effort on something BF is not going to do. They haven't offer the CMx1 games free. But hey it's your time, spend it however you like. Just because it isn't on the store now does not necessarily mean it won't be. I suspect the main reason it isn't there now is BF is giving a very special deal for current owners of CMSF and is not going to complicate that with folks trying to buy now knowing there will be a discount. I would not be surprised if once the dust settles it returns to the store, but why anyone would buy it is beyond me. As to that $200+ figure that is getting tossed around - the full package is only $120 just so we are setting the bar at the right height. It is a significant difference - 40%
  14. For this to be a MOUT fight, you need to get to the "UT".
  15. well for one, the blue player option to eliminate base camps and therefore reinforcements would require the red player to voluntarily push those units into an exit zone upon arrival.
  16. I second the suggestion to keep a pad of paper handy. You want to make sure you don’t forget to act on intel as there is a lot going on.
  17. Yes I have heard you state many times how hard you find designing. What I don't get is when you admittedly realize it isn't easy to do you so easily denigrate the work of those trying to learn. Not sure how participating in the forum and playing are juxtaposed, but you do have some unique perspectives. It is almost as if you intended that as a jab, but if asked I am sure you'll deny that.
  18. you could take up designing yourself rather than commenting negatively on the general work of other designers.
