  1. For those who really enjoyed Generation Kill. Been messing around at getting a Marine unit into Hmmwvs. Dismounting drivers and crews and replacing them. There are some idiosyncrasies. Skip the M2. You can't keep the gun, the team dismounts with it. M240 and mk 19 are fine and the m240 will accept a 5 man team. The vehicle icons will also show some discrepancies. The MG team when mounted shows an MG, Most everyone else is showing a vehicle. The result - Lt Bailey Assassin 1 -6 Actual and Assassin 1 on a back road approaching an Iraqi town. Now if teams would only fire from within the vehicle...….
  2. Are you using the activate new products shortcut to activate the battle pack? Just checking as that is the process. If that is the case and it isn't working I'd suggest contacting the helpdesk. The shortcut is in the same folder as the CMBS exe
  3. The other minimal effort that can be done is to see if that same provider is getting any other complaints. In this case you aren't having to rely on their technical skills just making sure they cross reference their issue tickets.
  4. To Ian's point the data for maps is different from title to title. Independent buildings for example are different and CMSF2 has none. Flavor items vary etc. There have been users that have managed to move some maps title to title and you can go to the few good men for some. Below is link for some maps moved from CMRT to CMBS. I can't vouch for them as I have not Dl'd myself. These are not BF supported, but if you can get them working...… As to other titles I have not seen much on map transfers. http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/tsd3/category/cm-black-sea/cm-black-sea-add-ons-maps/
  5. Also you should figure out what is actually useful. Toss all the uniform mods. They won't work. Same with soldier mods. Vehicle mods may. MikeyD would have a better idea what to expect, but for the most part I think they will not. Whether pieces of them can be reused is a different question, but they would only be of interest to modders. Terrain and building mods should still be good. Having done that clean out what kind of numbers are you still talking?
  6. well the reworked campaigns I can't say (and I doubt Steve can either). Reworking even the maps for CMSF2 can be a struggle. If the new map is going to have water, suddenly all your terrain settings come into question. I have redone a couple user made ones for myself adding in rivers, streams and canals where intended and have gotten myself in further than I'd expected when suddenly the mildly banked river becomes a canyon because somewhere else on the map is a lower elevation setting. You then find yourself editing the whole map trying to keep the feel of it while adjusting to the elevation settings... and that is just the map. That being said the originals will still play in CMSF2. You just won't have adjustments for AI plans or map updates. Feature capability will still be there.
  7. *scratching head...*. Coincidental to what? Again I gotta ask. What is it you are asking for? Steve is checking to the extent he can. We have maybe 25 cases now which Steve noted is a very very small percentage of activity on their site. Still Steve isn't taking for granted that the percentage case is so ridiculously small and is still checking. Could you be a little more concrete on what different you expect? You are posting as if you expect Steve to do something he isn't and yet it isn't clear from your posts what that is.
  8. Yeah I rarely up ammo much other than deciding to grab that Jav. Sometime I grab that just for the optical capability but most times I don't want to be hauling around unless I have a specific role for it. In Circle the Wagons however I found myself grabbing as much ammo as I could. The situation is I need to establish a perimeter and hold off the enemy. I am not expecting to move much and I can't afford to run low on ammo. Very specific requirements and therefore a specific response.
  9. If you go the battlefront .com store and look at the screenshots you will see a few and the answer is yes.
  10. cool thanks! Very helpful data source!
  11. LOL oh man that brings back memories. They used to have folks hovering over those payphones looking for people using those and they would turn around and start selling the information immediately while you were still on your call. Damn Steve thanks again for making me feel old. I'm gonna make sure you get the oldest eggs from the truck.
  12. Hey no fair!! Challenging my memory like that is just cruel. Have you no respect for your elders? Yeah sure I am nowhere near as old as Emrys, still. Seriously I don't know if it was in the initial release or added later. Checking the patch notes I found the following so I assume the behavior was right from the start. On a side note looking through CMSF patch notes is kind of interesting. Gives some perspective on how far the game has come. V1.11 PATCH FEATURE LIST Turn-Based Replay • Turn-based action is pre-computed with a "blue bar" before the action is displayed. This allows for improved performance of large battles on older computers, and for convenient "skipping ahead" in the early turns of a battle before enemy contact. • Craters, vehicle bog status, damaged buildings, walls, and trees display correctly (not too early).
  13. there are so many things wrong with that analogy. So okay how many people above have actually reported this - 20. How many people purchased CMSF or some other BF game in the past 6 weeks? (and then how many of those frequent the forum to see this thread). So BF has gone to the folks who are responsible - they are being pro active. What exactly are you asking for?
  14. maybe, that is what we call looking from bias. You need a baseline comparison. How many BF customers experienced credit card fraud say sept - dec who did not purchase anything from BF or even how many people have experienced credit card fraud in this same time period (Jan) who haven't purchased from BF.
  15. Yeah that would be preferable. I had a buddy served in the Navy. They were getting near to doing a port visit so the crew was out making sure the ship was all nice and shiny. He was being hung over the side painting. Unfortunately backward..... His ship was not included in the task force port of call. Not relevant to CM, but funny nevertheless.
  16. LOL no no no Real Life, not your real life in CM
  17. There is a difference between the issues brought up here and those you are noting. AI behavior is really hard to get right and there will always be corner cases. Modding the stuff you are doing is clear cut stuff that can be fixed. The nitpicking reference is something you can ignore and please keep posting stuff you find.
  18. yep pretty much. As long as the game has a tactical AI there will always be times when you say "wtf?". And in RL there are plenty of those moments. What I'd love about now is for our vet forum members to tell some of their best "wtf?" moments. Entertaining and it would put a more realistic spin on this discussion.
  19. that is just silly.(not you- the practical implications of this action) I don't use paypal for CM purchases. I have made several purchases on BFs site over the past couple months and at the moment have seen no odd activity on my card. Credit card fraud is a fact of life these days. Watch your cards, pay attention to your account transactions, but to stop purchasing anything because you are worried about it just isn't realistic. I don't mean this as CM specific, but in general. Hell with all the skimmers in gas stations you could just as easily say I won't go to buy gas, or I'll only use cash. You could do that, but in the long run is it worth it? Just don't use a debit card that asks for a pin. Your credit card transactions are protected. Yeah it can be a hassle sometimes but going to the extreme of not using it in one context isn't really protecting you much. Online banking while sitting at Starbucks is a much more dangerous practice.
  20. That is true. And it isn't just about 4.0. There have been a lot of tweaks in the CM engine since CMBN came out. Scenarios created in 1.0 were not tested with changes that followed and the same occurs in every release. How much it may or may not affect a scenario is variable depending on the design of the scenario itself. Having participated in the lift effort for CMSF scenarios there is simply no way scenarios will get altered as the game is patched etc. It is an enormous amount of effort for in the end little return. It would also severely slow down new releases. The answer - learn the editor I edit scenarios all the time to fit what I like. Swap units, change AI plans, alter maps. Why settle for a scenario you like but wish that you had another platoon - go ahead and add them. It is your game, you paid for it, get the bang for your buck. When I find a scenario that I really like I dump it into a different folder and start hacking away. There are a number of them that I may make 5-6 different versions depending on what I want to do. Change em to night scenarios. Make it rain. Anyone who isn't opening the editor is burning money. Campaigns are a bit more problematic.
