  1. The scenario is in April of 1943. A keyholed Tiger has nothing to worry about.
  2. Well I would have doubts. 184th Rifle division was employed in the south, west of the 22GRC and 1 TA. This means it couldn't have faced Elephants, as these were only used in Model's attack from the north, AFAIK. Moreover, 184th Rifle division is not opposite the main effort of 48th Panzer Korps, but west of it, and is part of 40th Army and in second echelon until the 12. Thus, all of the German armor of 48th Panzer Korps was hitting the 90th and 67th GRD's and later the the 6th TC and 3rd MC of 1st TA. It was not hitting the 184th. The 184th division doesn't appear to be on the front line until the 12, when in joins 6th Guards Army and moves opposite the 332 ID. From here however it likely only screened against the 332 ID and maybe elements of 3rd Panzer. But it deffinately wasn't subject to a multi-Panzer Division thrust from 48th Panzer Korps. To me, the source seems unreliable. Perhaps others will have more to say on the subject.
  3. I still don't see the point. In my experience RPG's are more effective than levitation.
  4. "Those guys think they're so far above everyone else." Brilliant.
  5. Another consideration you will have to make will be the force types given to the player. Obviously the tactics will differ if in one case you are using US Heavy Combined force and in another Syrian Mech etc.
  6. He has picked gamey force for the battle, that is for sure. T-34's and KV-2's against T-26's is a bit ridiculous IMO.
  7. Thanks, I may well need it. The fog in the scenario sure makes the tank engagements interesting. Both sides are currently throwing in their tank reserves, yet no one can hit anything! I will probably write a review of the scenario at TPG once my opponent and I have finished.
  8. Sniper on the rooftop!! Pretend you are only trees!
  9. Just to throw it out there, I don't think he wants an apology. He wants you to grasp the idea that operations don't work on a single CM map with massive forces in one battle.
  10. He is saying it doesn't work because the CM model allows you to micromanage things down to squad/team level. A regimental commander would never realistically have the ability to micro all of his platoons and squads on minute time scales to fit a regimental scale battle plan. A regimental commander moves battalions around, not squads. CM is meant to be played (realistically) from the company to battalion level.
  11. When Adam 1 said post WW2 WP he was likely talking about Warsaw Pact equipment only.
  12. Got my first pbem file for this scenario today and am now on turn 3 and have made contact with some T-70 scouts. Herr Bake hopes some 5cm AP shells will dispatch of them quickly...
  13. Will we see this in a future patch or module? I really miss this feature fromt he CMx1 games. Sometimes it gets annoying when your T-72's unload on a infantry scout team instead of the Abrams close to it.
  14. Another one already? Stop spoiling us so much, will you. I have just finished doing a setup for the German side. If anyone is interested in playing this scenario against me as the Soviets, please email me. My email is in my profile.
  15. If the vehicle has enough room in it, you mount a unit by giving the unit a move order (move, quick, fast etc) to the vehicle. If the curser is green, there is enough room. If it is yellow, as you describe, then there is not enough room in the vehicle for the unit to mount. That is why your units are going near the vehicle, but not in it.
  16. Just downloaded the operation and gave it a look from the Soviet side. Though its big, it looks like it will be lots of fun. I've always liked using Soviet cavalry. I can't wait to try this one pbem.
  17. In a PBEM I am doing now my Jagdpanzer IV has racked up a number of kills. It has killed 4 or 5 T-34/85 and is now leveling some houses with HE. I just hope my Grenadiers can hold. The Soviet infantry is hitting them hard
  18. Troops also tire in hunt mode. In CM1, move to contact would not tire troops.
  19. Thanks for all the comments. I think I'll give in to the pressure and get CMAK, especially since some people and get as much value out of it that it only costs 0.0116 cents for an hour of gameplay Once I pick it up though I expect an intense PBEM game from someone. Till then I'll get my game face ready.
  20. I own CMBO, CMBB and CMSF already, though I play CMBB by far the most of the three, as I find it has the most interesting setting. However, having almost finished Atkinson's "Day of Battle," I am becoming more interested in the Italian and African theatres. So is CMAK worth it? How does it stack up against CMBB? What advantages does it have? Thanks for your input.
  21. Since the original poster hasn't even bothered to return to see and reply to what others have said, I would assume he just wanted to complain about something because he had nothing better to do.
  22. "A RPG engaging at short range from a concealed position can be just as big a threat as a T-72, 1,200m away, firing from an exposed position." True, but an RPG can also be much more quickly and effectively suppressed by a Stryker and supporting infantry than a T-72.
  23. Pre-planned arty always comes in on the selected target area. LOS and TRP's aren't needed for it to work.
