  1. The panzer pioneers in CMBN are panzer pioneers. The majority of German pioneer units in CMBN wear standard infantry garb and gear. The Pioneer Battalion under "Infantry" has no association with panzer troops at all. It is a pioneer battalion in the standard infantry division.
  2. On the allied side, tank and infantry radios were not interoperable. They generally could not communicate by radio. There are examples of tanks carrying infantry radios in addition to their standard radio sets to get around this, but that was a field improvisation dependent on the availability of extra radios, and would probably happen at the tank company HQ level. These were not added until later in the campaign, and were a response to the major problems of infantry not being able to communicate with tanks well during action. AFAIK, it was a field mod, not a factory addition. This was also improvised in some cases by simply running a field telephone line out of the turret hatch.
  3. But the model does not match the .bmp in that case.
  4. psst...modders take note: your SS camo smocks are but a renamed file and a new texture away from reality...
  5. Definitely less firing signature than a rocket or recoilless weapon, but I'm not sure when and where this myth of stealth PIATs arose.
  6. And happens to create some smoke in the process...
  7. No, it is not possible. Depending on the engineer unit, they either share models/textures with regular infantry or with AFV crew.
  8. No, the error was with, for example, a single individual in the armored panzergrenadier squad appearing in the AFV wrap uniform.
  9. I suggest you set up a test and figure out what the actual probabilities are in the game. Even if there were only a 5% chance of a first round hit, you could still see two hits in a row, so I don't see how 2 first round hits makes a mockery of a 35-50% chance of a first round hit. Also, the AI has a "memory" for range to target, but what I don't remember is if it only applies to a single target that is lost and reappears at or near its original location, or if it also applies to other targets engaged near an already ranged target. If the latter, then a first round hit on the second tank was pretty much a given.
  10. PIAT is an option for one rifle section in each platoon, making a total of 3 per company. You set the option at the bottom of the purchase screen. Normally the coy has a truck with additional PIAT ammo, but only jeeps and kubelwagens are left in the TO&E for "infantry-only" QBs.
  11. I am making no comment on the numbers themselves, just on the validity of the test. I am currently looking for a WO report that had a comparison of 17 pdr APCBC and APDS first-round chances to hit, but I can't find the original reference (seems I failed to bookmark it!) The chance to hit for 17 pdr APDS was higher than APCBC at 1000m, but the spread between the two was much less. If I recall, it gave 15% for APCBC and 19% for APDS.
  12. The sample size is only 300 if you are looking at first-round accuracy broadly. For purposes of this discussion, it is a comparison of 126 samples to 174 samples. Regardless, I doubt the numbers would change much with more tests and I think it is safe to say that when firing on a target the size of a King Tiger turret at 700m, the APDS ammo has a significantly higher chance of a first-round hit than regular AP.
  13. Pretty sure your spotter has to have LOS to the adjustment point, and I believe if it is too far from the original strike, it may go into spotting before fire shifts.
  14. Afaik, the textures on buildings do not correspond to protection. In many cases the same building model can have brick, stone and stucco textures at the scenario designers discretion. You could, however, have stucco over brick or stone, so even there you can't assume poor protection.
  15. My understanding is that Panzerpioneer and Panzerauflklarung troops wore (or were authorized to wear) panzer wraps. I would guess that as they are dedicated mounted troops, their additional equipment is assumed to be in their HTs. There may still be some uniforms showing up in the wrong place (as was the case with 1 or 2 troops in other squads wearing the panzer wrap while everyone else was in standard infantry garb), but the halftrack-mounted panzerpioneer and panzerauflkarung units that wear the panzer wrap are not a bug.
  16. Yes, it applies to tanks. Target light should use MGs only.
  17. This one (zSmall_Arms_Sounds_V3) is not my mod. Mine is "AKD Sound Mod" and was only just released for v1.10 and CW. But thanks for the compliment if intended for mine!
  18. Are you sure you are not buying off-map Sexton sections from under "Artillery"?
  19. To be accessible by remote spotters, mortars must either: 1. Have good C2 links up the normal chain of command to an HQ with a radio (in this case that would be Mortar --> Section HQ [no radio] --> Platoon HQ [has radio]) 2. Be located next to a stationary vehicle with radio (e.g. mortar carrier HT) All subordinate units can benefit from the temporary local command of an adjacent higher HQ in their chain of command if they are out of C2 with the immediate HQ, but this does not "plug them in" to the call for fire network. Also note that any unit that can spot can call for fire from a mortar that they are within voice range of.
  20. The samples themselves would work, but would have to be renamed to conform to the v1.10 file names, and since v1.10 significantly increases the number of unique sound files, the v1.01 mod samples would have to be reused many times.
  21. A small arms sound mod made for v1.01 will not work properly with v1.10. The mod will need to be updated.
  22. well, "target light" is not going to use heavy weapons. Try "target".
