  1. Just knowing that there are people around important enough to have stingers is very useful information. It justifies things like liberal use of 155. Is the IR signature of modern drones big enough for anything other than the latest Western shoulder launched SAMs to pick up? The Taliban don't seem to be shooting them down in intolerable numbers. Also Predator and up usually operate above shoulder launched SAM accessible altitude. And forcing the bad guys to reveal higher level AA assets is extraordinarily valuable in itself.
  2. Please can we have drones, please, pretty please.
  3. "Today, 02:03 AM SgtMuhammed CMSF Beta Tester What patch?" You are cruel!
  4. The funny part is that without our support the Royal family would last less than a year, best argument for electric cars I know of. I don't care how lousy they are to drive. If oil was 15 dollars a barrel their own folks would hang every leader in the Gulf. Sunni and Shiite, Persian and Arab. I just want the YouTube video.
  5. I have issues more related to their spotting and reaction time than their shooting. I have given snipers very small covered arcs focused on a ? marked building and had enemies be able to repeatedly launch heavy ATGMS from the roofs of said buildings without the snipers firing. The first missile after I give the cover arc I can see, but after that any movement from that spot what so ever should draw fire I would think.
  6. The more important question is did they just kill him or did they actually get to go thru his stuff and find something useful. One of the most under reported break points in the whole Iraq war was the capture and exploitation of a laptop that was used by a senior AQI coordinator in Anbar that basically had chapter and verse on their whole network. The vast damage done to the FARC by the capture of one of their senior leaderships laptops is another excellent example.
  7. They made a fundamental mistake with the MGS, it should have been a 105mm howitzer or a breach loading 120mm mortar. Either would have been far better at its actual job, and probably allowed for a lot more ammo as well.
  8. This happens to me too, hopefully they will nail it down for 1.11. The game is so close to sublime perfection at this point.
  9. Complaint, one of, model &&*%*%*%&. Put some ability to deal with mines in or take the bloody things out.
  10. Surrender should result in the the surrendering side surrendering losing all objectives, and all points available for force preservation. The side that forced surrender should be given credit for all terrain objectives, except any "preserve" objectives that are now smoking holes in the ground. However, all of those points should be matched against any points the blue side has lost for casualties and or condition of its forces. Yes Normal Dude, I am repeating what you said earlier, mostly.
  11. Steve you said something a while back about the adding some in game capability to the recon Hummer, did that ever happen? At this point all I do is park it in the safest possible spot and leave it there. I realize its real usefulness kicks in when you start talking about many kilometer LOS situations where the fancy optics can really make a difference.
  12. The best story I ever heard about secret military projects had to do with the stealth fighter. Basically it was so classified that nobody knew about it. So no one could stick their finger in and add features or try to extract more money from the program. the result was on time, on budget, and effective. I am sure someone here can site another black program as a counter example, but it is an interesting antecdote.
  13. To expand on things a little bit, Piracy and terrorism are fundamentally different in some ways. In particular it is much easier to change the risk/reward calculus of economically motivated pirates. The way I would do that is to increase the risk, and put the video on you tube to help get the word out too. Even if the twenty year old doing the actual piracy don't care their backers would be quite sensitive to large losses in boats and equipment. Backtracking the cell phones of a few negotiators Sat. phones and sending some appropriate ordinance their way would also do wonders to clog up the gears of this little problem.
  14. I must report that the attempt to get back back on track failed, oh well.
  15. In an attempt to get back on track.. If you give the Syrians Kornets they suck a whole lot less. In fact they suck so much less I am absolutely convince we should buy the Israeli Trophy antimissile system immediately if not sooner. No painful personal experiences their or anything. If Lockheed ever gets theirs to work we can always upgrade in five or ten years.
  16. Trust me, my opinions on how much "credibility" the western world should have in places like Somalia are seriously "politically incorrect". Seanachai Said it perfectly, people who are contributing to the food chain thirty fathoms down cause very few problems, ever.
  17. Navies aren't useless at all if used correctly, simply establish a shipping lane as far from the Somali coast as the local ocean bottom allows. Or midway between the Somali and Yemeni coast. Whichever you hit first. Then simply allow target practice for any NATO ship directed at any small boat in the lane. Don't blink when the pirates arrange for some dead women and children. One month, fifty or a hundred sunken boats, and no more problems. Blanket the Somali coast with air dropped leaflets of the area where fishing is about to become extremely unsafe if you feel you must. If we allow this to be profitable in local terms it WILL continue.
  18. Face and target arc with short move orders back and forth to try to get them to right window. They would get a ? icon, but that is not that helpful for a heat round against armor. If you could give a target order on a ? icon and they would move around the action spot to get LOS that might work. The regular squad had a perfectly good LOS too. I even moved the regular squad out of the building and couldn't make it work.
  19. If I had two units, a regular thirteen man marine squad, and a smaw team in the same room. The squad could see a T-62, in three WEGO turns of trying I could not get the guys with the rocket launcher to the right window with the beautiful side shot of the tank. Is there any way to fix this? It is about as irritating a bug as the game has left. Maybe some special way to move guys around in action spot in special condition, or an AI routine to get the rocket launcher where it needs to go. I am fairly certain the squad leader would be yelling for the guy with the heat warhead at the top of his lungs.
  20. Play the battle for Poo in the Marines campaign. Play George Mc's Hammertime if you don't have the Marines module. It is on CMMODS. Then come post again.
  21. I would second Panzerfest on the ability, and perhaps requirement to spread area fire more widely. I would frequently like a machine gun to hose down the hole building without endless micromanagement. I also Agree with him on the the reduction in effectiveness of Borg spotting targets. So this could help both ways depending on implementation. It seems like most of the U.I. could adapted from the arty screens.
