  1. Agreed....I tend to not read the comments on any of the video web sites as only the retards seem to have something to say. More on topic there is supposedly a video in which an insurgent fires an RPG from a room or balcony and the back blast blows him out the room. Reguardless the back blast of most of these weapons is something not to be messed with.
  2. Well the test i ran i had static T-55s. The first test was done in hotseat and I gave the tanks covering arcs so they didn't respond to the infantry right next to them. The next test I did in real time and forgot about the tanks. They had no problem wiping my infantry out, of course they were not in buildings so that might be the difference.
  3. After a quick test it seems that troops with demo charges will toss them only at occupied bunkers. If the bunker is unoccupied they only seem to use grenades. I put some tanks next to the bunkers as well but the troops never engaged them with demo charges. steve-o
  4. hehe...I guess the biggest example of this is the various uniform accessories.....you can't wear the PC unless you are in the field (cause the beret is sooooo useful), can't wear A2CUs unless you are conducting aviation operations, etc. As for the poly pros, I had them issued too but I don't think I have ever worn them. They seem to me that the just don't breath well enough, but then I sweat when I snowboard so I tend to go for layers. But hey that's just me!
  5. Never fully understood why we get all this stuff that we never get to wear.
  6. Don't worry ADO will deliver it to you after you get back from deployment...... Steve-o
  7. That was an impressive Sagger shot!! My guys are real experts at blowing up the dirt 100m away from thier position. If I was controling them I probably wouldn't have taken that shot, but hey it worked! Steve-o
  8. I'm following this quite intently. This is a very cool way to watch a CMSF battle. It has the element of fog due to only seeing it from one side. Very cool indeed! I am continually looking forward to the latest post and pics!! Although I will say that since this is Red v. Red and the forces are mirrored some of the pics are difficult to tell who is who!! But usually the narrative enlightens me! Keep 'em coming! Steve-o
  9. YES! I agree, that was one of those small details that I loved about CMx1. It didn't matter, but it was just cool. Steve
  10. Imperial Grunt- That is a slightly modified proEffects mod. The proEffects mod was a bit orange for my liking. Most of the tracers I have seen have a much more reddish, almost pinkish color to them. All credit really goes to Paul Gulianelli as the original artist, all I did was adjust the color to what I thought looked right. If you would like I can email the file. Steve
  11. Nicdain I was thinking the same thing! Why not it placed in Korea and include both China and Russia? Russia could be either on the Blue side or Red. Other countries that could be included (but not limited to): UK, Australia, Canada, and Japan. Steve
  12. Hey PT No doubt 90-4 is full of great information as are the post that has been already submitted. I can answer some of your questions. Absolutely. Within the realm of CMSF an IBCT company has 129 soldiers minus the assault platoon. This would require 4 CH-47s or 12 UH-60s. Of course this all depends on the assets that are available. As stated by JohnO the assault battalion would have 3 companies of H-60s and the GSAB would have a company of H-47s. In your scenario if you choose to give the ground commander blackhawks I would not give him the entire company on the ground at the start of the mission. Instead break you could break the lifts down into 3 serials of 4, there by landing basically one platoon per left. And have reinforcements coming in every 5 minutes. This is a bit unrealistic but given the editor limitations it’s as close as you can get without imposing "honor" rules on the player. If you give the commander H-47s then you could put the entire force down in one lift. Vehicles would most likely come a bit later after the LZ is a bit more secure. And given the fact that they are 1114 based vehicles they have to be lifted by 47s. Not really important in the game but I think would be important in the briefing. This is based on the ground commander's need for the vehicles. If he requires them, then they can be airlifted in. Being the uparmored versions these will have to be moved by Chinooks. As for being too close or too far all depends on the threat. I agree with most of those who posted before that it does seem close. Since you are the scenario designer you can place the LZ as close or as far as you see fit based on the threat. Although the pixel truppen would sure appreciate it as close as possible. UNCONs may or may not possess AAA or manpads. The simple fact is that manpads are everywhere and if the UNCONs have any affiliation with the military they have a higher probability of having some kind of manpad or heavy machine gun. They will most definitely have RPGs which are very dangerous. So in all honesty even with suppressive fires and AH support the LZ will more likely be farther away than closer. I hope this answers some of your questions that you have. Steve-o
  13. How about small AND annoying! Steve
  14. MikeyD and JohnO are on the right track here.... Steve
  15. Ya know I was totally hoping for an all Tigers vs BMPs.....but that may not be fair....for the BMPs!! Steve
  16. Ok so I did a search and couldnt find exactly what I was looking for. So here is my question: What happens to troops that route during a campaign? Obviously they end up at the end of the mission AAR as "Missing". But if these troops are part of my core troops, are they gone forever. My hunch is yes, but I havent seen anything to confirm or deny that and honestly i havent done any tests to see either. Does anyone know? Steve
  17. gibsonm- Thank you sir, that does answer my question! Steve
  18. Hey I'm there with you, man! They are good at designating my left and right boundries! Steve
  19. Thought I would add a couple: Marines on the attack. LAV in support. Giving the enemy the good news. Steve
  20. OOHHH!!!! I thought you wanted an in game pic.....oops. Version 1.1 (the .bmp files were exploded after I got the marines and haven't done it again with the brits yet), file name was ags-17. Hope these are better. If you want I can email the file to you as well. Steve
  21. Thanks for the quick response Steve. I guess my confusion come from the fact that the Brits did infact have a Recce vehicle called the Sabre, which has subsequently been withdrawn from service. Now I know! Steve
  22. In the editor under the Recce Regiment both the Squadrons and Troops have (Sabre) next to the formation. Then when troop formations are clicked on they show (Scimitar). So I am honestly ignorant of British MTOE, and am curious if anyone out there can explain why that is there. Typo? Type of formation? Thanks for the help. Steve
