Well posted Zemke. I know you are a real life Warrior and not an Armchair one. I know where you are coming from. You have voiced your opinion and it may be negative to some, but by God its true. The premise for this game is way off. However, the game itself as an Iraq simulator may just appeal to the teen market, or the Government. Although Im not really certain that the teens would be bothered to spend 30 minutes clearing a house. I look forwards to the demo in about 6 months, no use worrying about it untill then. As a serving Air Force person, I am dying to see how a real modern war 3d simulator handles 100% accuracy in airpower. Im especially looking forwards to dropping a few Cluster Bombs on my Syrian enemy, then geting my Spectere to kill anything remaining, before the Inf haul up and fill the body bags. CM:Shock and Awe force - Hoo Ya.

What they have to spare will be serious MEGA AIRPOWER. No contest.

Of course US victory is a foregone conclusion, though if I read this right, they may get their fingers burned in a few encounters. Thats what OPFOR is there for - to train guys for the real thing, they should be winning against green troops and getting their butts kicked against the Vets. Over the last few days I am now beginning to get the gist of this one I think.

I too am dissapointed with the choice of setting, but what the hey, Im dissapointed with a lot of things that I can buy commercially. I have however continued to be intruiged by several things that have been mentioned for the game. I am also curious as to how modern ultra effective airpower that is almost always 90% available will work in it for one. I will definately try the demo, where is the harm in that. Im not an exclusive CM player anyway and can always get my Oranges fix somewhere else before returning for an Apple at a later date. I also find the discussions here mildly amusing, on the one hand we have the 'I dont like it, youve sold us out' brigade. Then the other extreme is the 'I love Battlefront, how dare you say anything about them' faction. Then stuck in the middle is Steve trying hard to argue his point in this thread, but in 1 post saying were not in it for the money and the next saying, if we got loads of money from a Govt we would bugger off. I usually read but dont post here, but since the announcement it has been a much better forum. Thanks for the entertainment over the last few days it has been a change from reading the 'you just havent moddled the Jeep MGs near offside fender just right' bone posts. I trully wish the game well and if it turns out not to be my cup of tea, what harm has BFC done me? None, as someone else will no doubt turn up offering me a juciy pear one day.

I agree with a lot of Zemkes posts after having to spend a lot of my life there too. I will however reserve judgement on this game when I actually see the Demo. But if its advertised as a modern SIMULATION, how can it not have the current 30-1 kill ratio in favour of the US? Maybe it will be the best thing ever, maybe not, I will wait and see, no point getting worked up over a product that is maybe 9 months away. However, the guy IS entitled to his opinion, isnt that what a Forum is for?

Well since Kosovo has been mentioned. There was no ground war, airpower solved the equation. The Serbs withdrew as far as I know? SO why not think anything diffrent would happen in Syria? If the premise happens, there arent going to be many Syrian regular units left to fight. So its an insirgency war.

In todays effects based and asymetrical warfare, airpower plays a huge part. We have C-130 Gunships, F-16, F-15E, Navy fighters, B-1 , B-2 et all. And currently there are many of these types right now on CAP over Iraq. If CM:SF is to be a representation of modern warfare I would expect to see Air power in every scenario and Campaign battle. How will this instant and extremely acurrate element be moddelled? I have personnaly seen all of these involved in Iraq and there is almost never a time when ground commanders dont have the option of at least 1 Jet equipped with CBLU, LGB etc. Will the Infantry Stryker units have a FAC as standard to call in this firepower? Will they be able to Laser designate, or even GPS designate? A modern battlefield simulation, even in FIBUA will not be complete without effective, 100% kill Airpower.

Good point Ardem. If anyone thinks that in less than 2 years time, the UK or any NATO country would support a move into Syria, then they are niaive. The UN, dont make us laff. No, this in my opinion is a thinly veiled attempt to appeal to either the US Govt (for training purposes), or the US tean 'Rag Head' killing populace. You should have called and it CM:BB (Basrah to Baghdad).

A former Soviet Republic may have been more plausible actually. A lot of people are going to see this as jumping on the lets kill an Arab and spread democracy Band Wagon. Still, if the gameplay is there I dont think I mind too much, the Tom Clancy esque made up future world. All the scenarios that will be designed by the gamers out there will be producing the fight for Fallujah anyway..........

Good question, there are all types of mines out there. Ones that go boom when you stand on them, ones that jump to head height and go boom. IED's that can be put in buildings to blow when the doors are opened. Anti tank mines, roadside bombs and mines, command detonated mines, suicide cars etc etc..... The timescales of the scenarios, missions will have to be increased to take all this into account. MOUT is a long slow process and the slower the better.

Ya boo hiss. Who would have thought, another company brings out yet another Middle East GAME. And thats all it will be. After all, where the fun in blowing the hell out of Syrians. What Army do they have? What defence can they have against us? It may be the best game in the world, but real? Come on, the Syrians are worse than the Iraqis. What will the missions be? Get your Stryker convoy through the town without being attacked by a suicide bomber? Use your superior Night Fighting ability to massacre insurgents who cant even see you. Im all for something diffrent, but this isnt diffrent, no matter what the gameplay its just not real, I may play the demo, maybe not. All you have done BFC is pander to teen USA, where you obviously think is where your market lies. Hrrrumph............

Hi I'd just like to add the fact that being a replacement sucks, and is total pot luck as to what you are handed. The only game I played from the start was Highlanders and I consider it a truer reflection of my ability than the total dross that I was handed as a stand in. Apart from that 1 game I came in at at least the 1/2 way point and sometimes later. I have been away for a while and havent submitted any AAR, but then again how can I, what will I say, got the game on turn 15 and the guy who was originally playing had lost already? Cant say I was chuffed, but thems the breaks, good luck to the winner of group 11 and hope you do well in the next rounds. Oh well, maybe next time eh?

Attention David Griggs. I have now sent turn 70 to you 3 times. I even sent you a message without an attachment. I seem to get your mails OK, but mine arent apparrently reaching you. I have no idea why as everything was OK up until a few days ago and nothing has changed at my end.

He may be acive on threads, but theres no bloody activity on the game front. How long do I have to wait before I can claim a Victory? He has my emails as he responded, so frankly Im not sending him another.

Still nothing from Mr Dorosh, been a week now. All 4 other games proceedeing at roughly a turn a day.

Attention Spanish Bombs. Replacement calling. Damn I hate being a replacement, however I enjoy an even greater challenge of having to re-arrange someone elses forces. Anyway 4 of my 5 games underway. Last game against Mike Dorosh is still pending, have mailed him twice though. Hopefully I will recieve the game file soon. Will keep you informed.

I presume that BFC are not making a game exclusively for Grogs and have a far wider audience in mind. So I also prsume that some of the fantastic wants of 1 or 2 individuals just wont be there. Sure they can ask what we want, they dont have to take our advice though. Frankly some of that advice would need a Super Comp to run it. bring it up to date and improve it, add new innovations, let it run on my new PC. PBEM I can live without. Horses, I dont think many of them were in company sized assualts other than cossacks. BFC just arent going to put in your kubelwagen wing mirrrors guys, and the majority dont want it ether. Grog grog grog. make me a GAME....
