SO will there be more or less Carrots in CMX2?

As far as Im aware the Japanese infantry were pretty much equipped for WW1, their armour was abysmal and their logistics were dire. Their navy was a diffrent kettle of fish, but after 1943 was pretty ineffective too.

On the topic of fantasy alternate history and US Civil War I seem to remember a Novel where some mad man travels back in time to the South with the complete plans for the british Sten. Apparently he has worked out that the technology of the day was quite able to produce this simple weapon. Of course, pure fantasy but at the end of the day isnt infantry fighting about suppression? That after all is why the germans were able to suppress much easier as they had a higher proportion of automatic weapons down to squad level. In fact a German Inf squads tactics were designed around the MG34/42. Fire and movement. However, the ammunition use for the MP44 must have been prolific as compared to a mauser. Still its threads like these that keep me coming back here.

As far as Im concerned Im happy with the way combat is moddled in CM now. I would just like to see an increase in graphics to the standars of the other games around today. Full squads with individual members would be great, Im not bothered about watching medics treating wounds etc. Also after 30 secs or so a dead guy could just fade away as in other games to save PC brain power drawing 600+ casualties (well in my games anyway - LOL)

Interesting post. I am amazed that no one mentioned a couple of cheap flamers to budge that Inf. Inf always move for flames, maybe a flame tank or a couple of flame HT, then hit them with the Inf?

Ah so weve come full circle and possibly agree that London was the key. I dont go in for ludicrous stands in the Highlands, yes i know the terrain is difficult but no more difficult than Norway and Jerry had some good Mountain troops. And living in the highlands Mself I know what the are like. Its just practicality, the enemy had to attack in the South and thats where all of our forces had to be. Once the invasion started the whole might of the Royal navy would have been thrown at the invaders, thats every last ship. I just dont personally think the what if works unless Dunkirk didnt take place. However if there was no Dunkirk I dont think the Germans would have needed to invade I think Churchill would have gone and the Brits would have made peace with Germany. End of conflict, no US involvement etc etc etc......

Thanks for the advice i will experiment. I usually have just cmbb and ak loaded at the same time, my NVidia drivers have always been up to date, i will investigate the aliasing etc too. i am also fully modded. This only happens with Ak not ever with BB or even BO and both those are heavily modded too. The bmps obviously dont load fully. Im not a techno geek, was curious to find if anyone else had the same prob.

Yes I have the last patch. It has been happening for a few months now. My graphics card has 256 VRAm so I wouldnt have thought that would have caused the problem. As I said i can live with it but it is strange.

Well in theory the carlisle scenario would be fun. In real life, not a chance, if the germans had launched Sea lion and suceeded (slim chance there) the fall of London would have meant the fall of the Uk. There would not have been much if any Scots, Welsh or other units left further north to seriously contest a battle. As for the ludicrous notion of Southern ireland attacking in the North, well it goes without saying that reclaiming lost lands is just foolish. The population of norther ireland would have fought to the last as the vast majority would have considered themselves british then as now. In truth, the Royal navy would have had to intervene with all its strength (and that was considerable)and the germans could only counter with aircraft. Also RAF Bomber command would have used every plane available to attack the beaches and the UK Government was quite prepared to use gas against any invader. To sum up, if sealion was successful the UK would have surrendered if London was taken, but Sealion would not in any way have been a success, the germans in 1940 were not the allies of 1944 when it came to amphibious assualt.

Sadly i find a lot of the BO to AK conversions dont work as well. Abrahams thunderbolt was a very good conversion, but the Sherman Jumbo is just not available in AK so it looses something there. [ January 04, 2005, 04:06 PM: Message edited by: GSX ]

I am currently playing St lambert in AK, a very good map and so far a very interesting battle, check it out.

I have been gradually playing through the 3AD scenarios, some Vs the AI and the two player ones pbem. I heartily reccomend them, they are very good and give you a feel of commanding the same unit throughout.

I have an intermittent problem with cmak gaphics. Quite often when I load up a scenario or pbem file some of the graphics (BMP) are missing. Sometimes one infantry man in 3 has a white face, or a white arm or leg, other times a hedge will be white, or gray. Nex time, everything is normal. this never happens with armour and houses etc but only hedges and infantry. It mostle affects german inf but has affected the other nations too. Its livable but weird as it doe not happen with either BO or BB. GS

I used to wonder how to use this thing in BB, however i have had a lot of kills with it against Jerry armour, 1 team even managed to take out 2 PzIII and a PzIV, from the side and rear but still it puts the willies up any tank crew if it hits.

I dont get Leopard 2 on this issue at all. War is not clean. I mean we all obviously enjoy playing the CM games where there are no civilian casualties and everything is rosey. All weapons are designed to kill, civilians were deliberately targetted by ground troops whether in Russia or Germany or elsewhere. Next time you play this little game on the eastern front and start blowing up houses think about what would be in there.

I cannot agree that Strategic bombing were like the pox and measles. How much of germanys war effort went into countering the strategic bombing threat? Quite a lot. It was total war and called for any measure to win. In fact Strategic bombing would have won the war if the germans had survived through to August as the US would have used to Atomic bomb. Most effective weapon of WW2 would then have to be the A Bomb in my opinion, worked every time and achieved the desired result.

Nope MCMMM here, I did download them from CMMODS. I have had no problems with any other file and have used MCMMM for ages. I am not trying to use 2 switcing Progs as I only use MCMMM. Should they just be added to the bmp folder then and unzipped to there?

By cmmods, do you mean cmmos? Not sure if you do. Only the download said cmmos not compatible, excuse my ignorance here.

This may be daft, but Game here in the UK is offering CMAK for £5.99. figure in postage etc and its a whole lot cjeaper than $70? In fact you can have all 3 games for £20! If you can stand the ss being called WG, and who cant for this price, get orderin from the UK!
