  1. FIBUA is a long and complicated process. Just to take 1 reasonably sized builing may take an hour if done properly. The slower and more methodical the better. So in CMSF, will we see the scenarios move to hours rather than minutes? To give the whole subject justice, fighting in buildings will necessarily have to take time. So to take a small town may take 24 hours, will this be reflected in the simulation? Will I have to go from building to building clearing every room and then go onto the next block?
  2. OK, I think I get the gist. Similar terrain that requires no modification could be allocated a module. So if game 1 is US Normandy June-Aug 44, the module may be UK Normandy, same dates. If it requires a major re-hash of the terrain, like the Ardennes, then this will be a separate game and so we may have, German Ardennes offensive Dec-Jan 44/45, with a module for a US counter-offensive. So each seperate iteration would be about 2-8 weeks in length, with supporting modules then?
  3. I wonder if you were born a Knob, or circumstances grew you that way?
  4. I would disagree, body armour is a must have for anyone in Iraq. The same would go for Syria. As for stopping a round, it all depends on where you are hit I suppose, if it hits in the ceramic plate, all well and good, elsewhere, maybe all well but not that good.
  5. British Squadies do tend to stay in longer, thats true, also british small unit leadership tends to be more effective. In general more responsibility is given to JNCO and SNCO personnel. Even senior privates can and do lead a mission if all goes wrong. More like the Marines really.
  6. In fact, the more I think about it, the more the former Soviet Republics look a more reasonable scenario. Think about it, crisis in Something-a-Stan, nuclear material/Fanatic government take-over, we know the story by now. However, time is short, the Paras have secured an airfield and the only unit available to be air transported is - yes, the mighty Stryker, doing what its designed to do. This would also get around the, why are there not hundreds of M-1, as only a few could be air transported. If the story is only there as a backfill, this seems far more plausible.

  9. I agree that both the background and supposition is somewhat laughable, but no more so than any other Tom Clancy inspired future world. Im not so sure a Stryker unit would be the tip of the Spear anyhow. So Im in the, lets see how it plays and forget the blah camp.

  12. Good points, so will the campaign see a careless player who loses too many assets in the beginning really tactically challenged by the end? Will we have to replay missions to avoid this? This is one thing that puts me off many games, the constant replaying of missions to achieve my goals.
  13. If a campaign with the same forces is to be enacted, will our heroes be rewarded with either promotion or medals? Will their abilities increase? Or will they start the next battle as is, but without the casualties incurred in the last battle and Green replacements.
  14. Well obviously the scale will be lowered in any other game, but I would hope the focus wouldnt be solely on the urban.
  15. LOL, Gurkhas are made for the Mountains thats for sure.....
  16. Glad you said probably, as some Isrealis, Brits Aussies and New Zealanders for one will argue with that. Still the more elite formations are good, about the same quality as an Aussie regular battalion. Of course the Brits will be in Afghanistan next year, cue the Gurkhas in their element. Maybe it will be a diffrent game then. But as someone who has lugged all that kit aorund as well, I definately know where your coming from.
  17. Flustered?!? Surely you jest. We couldn't give two craps about most of what was said after the CMSF announcement but we had been holding this gem in our back pockets to announce when the time was right. Guess what, the time was right. Technically it was right about a week ago but finalizing the web layout took a bit longer than anticipated. Come on guys, we're Battlefront, we do things on OUR time tables, not yours. Madmatt Madmatt </font>
  18. Probably, thanks for the Apples, Im still not buying the Oranges. Or do you think diffrent?
  19. Looks a bit like the 3d graphics in TOAW. I dont mind though, this looks like a gread addition to my beloved CMBB.
  20. You can believe what you want, I can believe what I want.
  21. Suspect Jim is right there. Still who cares, gives me something other than boring ultra war to look forward too.
  22. Spoken like a WALT of the highest order.
  23. Following the SF announcement a lot of negativity was voiced, a lot of BF staff were flustered. This game seems as yet a bit away from completion. Surely the mighty BF havent announced this early to take the sting out of SF dissappointment? Actually I dont care one way or the other. However, a BOLT-ON product may just be frought with problems. Any ideas on the symbiosis?
  24. This is good, sort of like Rome TW for CMBB, very good addition.
