I don't know if anyone knew but the CMX1 mod site shut down for a while this month. I contacted GAJ because I was looking for an old mod for reference. His second reply came in today and he asked me to share the info with the boards, so I have cut and pasted the pertinent parts.

"As I thought, usage exceeded the monthly allowance on the cheap plan I have at heroku (where it's hosted).

I'm currently paying $7 per month to keep it live on heroku, (I'd forgotten that actually!), plus another few dollars per month for the data storage at Amazon.

I have one contributor who contributes $5 per month, so I'm not too much out of pocket.

I'd need $20 per month to ensure it doesn't run out of usage on a monthly basis.

Contributions welcome (I think the site will have a paypal button when it comes back on 1 Aug).

    Cheers,

    GreenAsJade"

He actually signed it with his name as well but I don't know if he wants that public or not.

Combatants are very much neighborhood guys with guns. Fighters are proper jihadists, probably with foreign financing and foreign soldiers. They have a better command structure, heavier equipment (they even have AA missiles), plus they're blessed with suicide bomb IED cars, something the neighborhood militia combatant  doesn't have.

Eh, I don't see any harm in posting a pict since early models had already appeared in the AAR.

Below is my TACSOP for when I want a team, inside a building, to stay away from a certain wall.  It will keep a team from going to that wall (balcony) while still being able to spot out of that side of the room.  Can be used because of a balcony or some other reason.
     1. Give team a circular Target Arc about the size of the building.
    2. Slow team into the building & then to the desired floor.
    3. Give desired floor waypoint a Target Arc out the reverse wall.1
    4. 2nd turn give the team a permanent Pause3 order.
    5. Give team a 32m 360oTarget Arc2 and consider Hide.
    6. When ready to engage cancel Target Arc & Hide.4
Notes: 1)The team will have LOS out the forward wall of the building from the reverse wall.  This will also keep the team from entering a balcony on forward wall.  2)A 360oTarget Arc is used to prevent the OpFor from approaching outside a wedge arc & does not affect observation. 3)Pause keeps the team from moving to forward wall & entering balconies. 4)Team will auto cancel Pause and move to forward wall to shoot.

I don't use Windows; I'm on a Mac, a fact that I have announced probably a hundred times on this board. And yes I know all about startup items. But that is irrelevant since I rarely start up my Mac, but simply rouse it from sleep. But that damned Steam ap interrupted me for minutes at a time whenever I was using my Mac and it felt like doing so. So you smart ass Windows users can just crawl back in your caves and stop mocking me.

13E= Field artillery fire direction control. Not sure if the MOS number has changed since my days (late 70's). Back then we still mostly used specialized slide rules and protractors with charts, as the stove sized computer (FADAC) would usually quit working whenever the track (M577) took a big bump.

In reality, in the Shock Force 2008 Syrian Invasion scenario as posited by Battlefront I would think the ability of the Syrian Air Force to get through to carry out an airstrike would be quite low. It wasn't until the NATO module that the feature in the game was even added IIRC. Perhaps BF just decided to do it as it was easy to code.
I once suggested scenario makers could use the Syrian Air Force units to represent contributions by former Warsaw Pact, now NATO, countries to the war effort as they were still flying some of the same planes back then.  :)

The CMSF base game was released on July 27 2007.  The Black Sea Battlepack was released on April 25 2017. So in roughly 10 years we had an additional 5 base games, 6 modules, 1 Vehicle pack  2 Battlepacks and 3 major Engine upgrades.  What's been announced for sure? CMSF 2 (which I'll call a new game),  the last CMFI module, except for possibly an elite forces module,  and another module for CMRT, CMBS and CMFB.  At the same pace of release in the next 10 years (after which I suspect Steve and Charles will be ready to retire) we'd expect to see another 7 more Game or module releases plus odds and ends. Say CMBS, CMFB and Red Thunder get another (2nd) module. That about leaves only enough time for the East Front 1943 to be covered along with the odds and ends. So it looks doubtful to me if we will ever see either early war or North Africa. This is not meant to be a big downer, as that's still a hell of a lot of content, and yes Steve might be laughing his butt off after reading this attempt at prognostication since only he and Charles, I would think, really know what's going on, but I thought I'd offer this assessment.

Sequoia got a reaction from LukeFF in The state of CMSF2
ManoWar this has been discussed more than once before and Battlefront is firm in their position that CMSF is not a sandbox for other Middle-eastern conflicts. AND initially they had not intended to add any additional features to CMSF 2. We're all happy they bent that rule I'm sure, but their schedule is full with many other projects, so asking for features outside of the main focus of CMSF will probably go to the bottom of a very long wish list they maintain. I feel a bit hypocritical telling you this after enquiring into engineers disarming IEDs above, but we just have to dampen our expectations for new features a bit.
That said I think modders and scenario makers will come up with new surprises for us for CMSF2 once they have the tools Engine 4 provides.

Will CMSF 2 have the ability to disarm or jam IEDs (yeah I know I'm asking about a new feature, sorry  ) ?

Thanks Mike, I'm very happy to hear that it will be looked into. I'm also asking, and I know it would be a new feature. could/should engineers have the ability to mark/disarm them like they do mines?

    Thanks again.

Harken, Dear Sulomon. Sit and I shall spin ye a tale.
Once upon a time there lived a haunted forum full of angry trolls led by an evil Canadian wizard who drew his dark powers from a magical Waffen SS manikin. This cult of personality disorder, bound by their hatred for the light, began predicting the downfall of BF in the year of our lord, 2000 and 7. They'd gather together, under the jaundiced light of a gibbous moon to gnash their teeth and drown kittens, while fantasizing about how Steve was gonna run his company into the ground do to all his bad game making decisions. For a fortnight and a grand age did they conspire and ruminate. During all their dire predictions and dark prophecies did BF persevere; releasing CMSF and it's 3 modules, CMA, CMBN, CMFI, CMRT, CMBS, CMFB, 3 upgrades, 3 modules, double digit patches, 1 vehicle pack and 2 battle packs. 11 years later, the vile Canadian Wizard having been banished to the blackest anus of the internet by the very devils he worshiped, his mutinous followers either turned to stone from years of hate or consumed by the very hellfire in their souls, the forum now consists of one guy who sits around talking to himself. The Wargaming Gods call that irony.
Harken well, dear Sulomon, for there is a moral to this tale I tell to thee. Sometimes, gentle Sulomon, a cigar is just a cigar. And sometimes games and patches are delayed because they just need more time. Let not the demons of rumor and despair take thee. Seek enlightenment, reach for the truth, for if ye don't ye may just end up with a Waffen SS manikin in thy boudoir and a penchant for dunking baby cats!

    The End.
