Since Steel Panthers and now Combat Mission, for me playing on the computer is so much more of a number crunching /time saver that I will never go back unless I have no power for an extended length of time.

Midway... nice. Add to that: Avalon Hill's Wooden Ships and Iron Men, Tobruk. GDW: Air Superiority and Air Strike (these led me to get Flight Commander 2, PC when it was released in 1994. Still fire that up on my old WinXP rig). Victory Games: Ambush and Open Fire (Solitaire wargames) Box pics of the three I have: In regards to the Ambush and Open Fire wargames, I may have to dust these gems off and see if there is anything that may be useful for CM, like maps or scenarios etc. .

Agree, I have to admit though, the Mass Effect series is pretty good. MegaMek (the Battletech board game, top down view on the PC or Mac, via SourceForge) is a really great game as well. It is open source, always being updated and improved upon... all free for download. Sorry, I do not want to hi-jack this thread, carry on.

46. Started CM'ing whenever CMBB came out, however I did try the CMBO demo. I was stuck on Steel Panthers WaW at the time though. SPWaW reminded me of my teenage days playing Avalon Hill's 'Tobruk'. I guess that is why I liked it so long. Still do actually. CM series I have dedicate lots of my spare time on: CMBB, CMAK (CMETO), all CMx2. CMSF (tried it, never got into it for some reason). However, I like what I am hearing about CMSF 2.

Scott B, I have close to 70 B&T scenarios for you if you want them. In regards to the Der Kessel stuff, what files are you wanting? Do they have Der Kessel in the file name (like B&T)? If you give me an idea what I am looking for, I may have some for you. I also have 18 zip files (32 mb total approx) of "Sorted Scenarios" by Phillippe from 1941-45 (Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter). Der Kessel stuff may be in them. PM me your e-mail address and I will send what I can.

Not me, I refuse to buy a console just to play hockey. I am still modding my PC NHL 09, with updated rosters (when the real NHL gets going again) and using that. With realistic AI sliders it is a great game. Not a console guy at all.

Winter Mods for the eventual CM East Front family
Blazing 88's replied to Broadsword56's topic in CM Normandy Maps and Mods
Eventually, how far back in time could one have mods and scenario's take place? 41-late 43 for example. -
Done, I think in the end it was called Military Digest. 1988 or 1994 last published, not sure. If you sign up at that yahoo group (first link in my OP), you will be able to download pdf's, scans, etc for the "Battle Stations" scenario's. I have 15 or so issues on my bookshelf, so if need be at some point I could scan the "Battle Stations" scenarios for anyone that may want to use them for scenario creations.

Miniature Gamer's Questions
Blazing 88's replied to Rifleman57's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
To each his own, since CMBB I have played 90% against the AI, maybe more. I prefer it that way as I can't dedicate myself to just CM time wise. I like to come and go as I please, finish a scenario or campaign weeks, months or years later... maybe. That kind of thing. For example, a few days ago I just finished turn 32 of a CMBB scenario called Kursk-Turning Point. I started this scenario sometime back in 2008. I tend to jump around to different theatre's, scenario's and op's to get my CM fix. One of the reasons I have ops and scenarios still not completed, but will have eventually. Playing a human is fun and challenging though. -
Word. Merry Christmas (Happy Holidays) everybody.

For some reason I was reminded of this with this thread.... I remember on a sports forum I use to frequent 12 years ago, there was this poster that eventually got busted for having duel user names... actually several, he would literally be talking to himself (with his several usernames) in the same thread, arguing and praising his own posts... creepy, schizoid-ish even.
