Euroscape mod & European theatre
Blazing 88's replied to kruzes1's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
The peeps in the WOFF community say RoF is great for the multiplayer online combat it provides. WOFF trumps it though for single player campaign immersion. I only have WOFF, so I have no input on RoF other than what others have mentioned. Really, you probably couldn't go wrong having both on the HD. -
lol........

Never liked or wanted CMBO for some reason. CMAK and CMBB though are gems. CMAK can be modded to CMETO (basically CMBO but without Pershings or King Tigers available) was really cool. 3 games for the price of two. Here is the link for the CMETO mod for CMAK if you by chance get it: http://www.tspindler.de/cmak_mod/ Having said that, I haven't touched CMx1 stuff since about 2011. Still have it on the HD though. CMx2 keeps calling me back for my CM fix. I can't wait for CMx2 North Africa some day down the road.

Since flight sims are being mentioned. If you guys haven't heard of Wings: Over Flanders Fields (WOFF)... Just ask Aris or Wodin about this WWI single player sim, it is fantastic. WINGS: OVER FLANDERS FIELDS Immersive, Epic and Unique WW1 flight simulation. http://www.overflandersfields.com/index.html A combat air patrol preview: It’s a massive mod (not free) for Microsoft’s Combat Flight Simulator 3 that turns it into an AMAZINGLY IMMERSIVE World War I flight simulator. It is amazing what those Devs managed to accomplish with the CFS3 game engine. -
Would love to see more NA scenario's /campaigns created for any time period... Gazala 42 to Tunisia 43 would be just fabulous.

Best way to use armored reconaissance?
Blazing 88's replied to AttorneyAtWar's topic in Combat Mission Red Thunder
I have been meaning to try and use the 'Bail Out' order for an armored unit (armored car or even a tank) to use it as foot recon unit. Then when completing the recon scramble back to the armored vehicle and mount up again. This can be done in CM if I am not mistaken? I have read this happing countless times in various books like Panzer Ace's, I assume it is feasible in CM no? Not sure you would use this often in CM, but I am more just curious if one can do it. -

Some people would rather just play against the AI, myself included. Yes I have tried CM vs a human and it is very enjoyable in that mode as well. For the time being I like it the way I am using it. -

I use only Combat Mission for all my small unit WWII combat tactics gaming. Mostly against the AI as well. I am seeing no need to find another type of game for this at all. Nothing comes close imo. To each their own I guess. -
Not quite like combat mission, however one fun lopping of heads and limbs off game: http://www.tornbanner.com/chivalry/ (Multiplayer, can us single player only for training before going online) Have you checked out War of the Roses the game? http://www.waroftherosesthegame.com/ Or War of the Vikings: http://www.warofthevikings.com/

WOFF (WINGS Over Flanders Fields): http://www.overflandersfields.com/index.html Best single player WWI combat flight simulator out there. The AI is amazing, very human like, throw in the dynamic campaign and immersion value is off the charts. No muliplayer however, RoF for that I suppose.

Saw an article in some gaming mag around 1999 I think or because of Flight Commander 2 I may have stumbled across CMBO at the Battlefront web site way back when. I didn't think much of CMBO at the time, late war and not a theatre I was interested in. I was intrigued with the 3D aspect though, being a former WWII table top miniature wargamer. I was a Steel Panthers /Steel Panthers WaW junkie, then onto CMBB when it first came out. CMAK was next and I was in heaven having both the East Front and North Africa to pick from. 1941 to 1943 are my favorite years for WWII wargaming. Also, The CMETO mod was /is a good one as well. Great times. -
Exactly what I am hoping happens with my post above, as I have no time to make scenario's unfortunately.

Here is a old link of mine from CMBN. Wargamer's Digests "Battle Stations" scenarios for tabletop miniature wargaming. (You will have to sign up for access to the WD "Battle Stations" pdf files). http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=100027 There s one of these made by 'TWC': http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=314&func=fileinfo&id=3022 however this scenario is for CMBN. None have been made for CMRT as of yet. I have about 16 volumes. 6 of them have a Russian Front "Battle Stations" in them. If someone wants them I could scan the "Battle Stations" portion of the mags so we can get more scenarios made for CMRT... as long as that is ok?? (This would be only if you can`t get them at the links above).

It has been this way since the beginning CMx1, what 14 years? like others have mentioned above, that is the key to having success with movement. I actually enjoy the plotting to an extent. A sense of accomplishment when it goes the way you plotted it. I am all for a 'follow' command though if at all possible down the road... no pun intended. I might as well mention 'formations' with the ability to set the distances between each vehicle to go along with it.
