  1. I just bought CM Anthologies for my brother and he is looking for a patch to change the lame WG symbols to SS. Can anyone point me in the right direction? He has version 1.03 CDV.
  2. Good Lord! What's with all the commas? Sorry, but I guess I'm just one of those people whom it bothers. [ December 27, 2004, 03:23 PM: Message edited by: Shmavis ]
  3. Well, crap. I just had a(some might say) funny screenshot that I wanted to show. I'd say I'm a computer primitive, too. I'm off to Image Shack, I guess.
  4. I was just wondering if you can post screenshots from your hard drive, not an image from some URL. Is that possible? Please, excuse my ignorance.
  5. I should like to mention that Mr. Beevor also stated how brutal the Soviets were in trying to bring the situation under control during a discussion I saw on CSPAN, I believe. He related how a German woman was desperate to save her companion from the drunken abuse of a Russian soldier and managed to find a Russian lieutenant. He followed her back to the place where her companion was and promptly shot the soldier in the head. Though, as others have stated, it was payback time.
  6. You know, it never ceases to amaze me how quickly we stray from the topic. Hmmm...my wife just shot me in the crotch with a rubber pellet pistol. Why did the kids get her that for Christmas? I hope everyone had a wonderful one. I own Will Fey's book and enjoyed the personal accounts, but it was not an objective work, as any engagement where the SS didn't shine or at least perform adequately is either ignored or barely mentioned. I only recently discovered that Kurt "Panzer" Meyer *gasp* surrendered! Tore off his SS runes, if I remember correctly. Fey and Kurowski failed to mention his fate and I had wondered about it.
  7. Are FT teams' potential to explode due to the vulnerability of their fuel tanks modelled by their general frailty?
  8. Who knows? If they could have the story revolve around one or two people, say, a German and a Russian tank commander, a film that would interest a wide audience could be feasible. Then again, will many people care about a clash between two basically evil empires? I would say, also, that the world was ready for a film like "Saving Private Ryan" after so much corn.
  9. Sweet! Having read "Panzer Aces", I would very much like to play this scenario.
  10. Hmmm. I suppose Hollywood figured one movie and the bazillion books about the battle were enough. My wife found out a couple of years ago that she has an uncle in Liege,Belgium(from some of her grandfather's escapades while in the ETO). As it turns out, he was very proud to learn that he had an American father and loves the US. He's also the president of a WWII/US Army veterans association, the name of which I can't remember just now. Apparently, many of its members were born of unions between American servicemen and Belgian women. Now, here I am in England and I can't get over there for the anniversary. *&%^$#@! I guess I'll search for some photos of monuments.
  11. I agree with this statement, except I'd prefer Haile Selassie introducing "Three Mo' Tenors".
  12. The "If Only" operation comes with CMBB Special Edition. You get a platoon of Brummbars in it. I suppose it's at the Scenario Depot, too...yep, it is.
  13. Thanks! Sorry for my belated response. I noticed many different spellings for the names of people and places, by the way.
  14. Ah. Could I have that in English, please? I checked the scenario briefing again and it was, apparently, the bishop of Bamburg with whom he had the exchange. In my searching I was only able to find references to the bishop of Wurzburg. I guess he had a lot of bishop enemies.
  15. So, what exactly did he say to the bishop of Wurzburg? I'm tired of searching for a quote.
  16. I thought "peng" was one of the sacred words...whatever.
  17. My wife discovered she had Belgian relatives a couple of years ago. So, I'm trying to see if we can go to Belgium this December. It should be sweet.
  18. Whoops! Don't I feel sheepish. Sorry about the confusion. I found my book yesterday. Yay!
  19. Hah! I can't believe it. I recently bought(and lost, dammit)your book, Steel Victory. You wrote that CC5 is the greatest tactical wargame ever, or something to that effect. I couldn't help thinking, "Man, has he even heard of CM yet?" Of course, I had no idea that you were a forum member. Nice pics, too.
  20. Wow. This is really comforting. So many times, I pretend I was doing something else when the wife comes home, usually after me. "Uh, hey! I was just...doing laundry! The kids? They're...uhhh...playing in the yard! Yeah, that's it. Screaming? No, they're just having fun." Unfortunately, she knows what time is set for the screensaver and only has to look at the monitor, but this thread has given me some good ideas. I wish I had a son with whom I could share CM, though. *sniff*
  21. For anyone interested, I found a figurine based on the operation for sale here.
  22. No, I just can't stand dial-up service. I have tasted of the sweet nectar of cable and DSL.
  23. Oh...excuse my breach of etiquette. I lost control again. I lost contro-o-ooooool.
