  1. Thanks. Like I said, I'm just curious as to how some Finns feel about that particular topic as I've been doing some reading on the whole Russo-Finnish conflict.
  2. You're Finnish, right? You may have been asked this question a thousand times, but do most Finns even care about losing Karelia anymore? I'm just curious.
  3. I believe this scenario is based on the fighting during Operation Winter Storm - the German attempt to relieve the encircled 6th Army. The "desperation" might be a result of the Soviets' vast numerical superiority, awful weather and Hitler's refusal to allow the 6th Army to break-out toward the relief forces. Antony Beevor's 'Stalingrad' recounts this phase of operations at length. So, I would say that you don't suck, but neither is the scenario "unbalanced". It's just historically accurate.
  4. Hmmm. D'oh! On closer inspection, the 2 teams each had one casualty, but both had ammo of around 110 which dropped to 69 when they dismounted. I'm playing with SS mechanized troops. The HMG's(one regular and one veteran crew) dismounted from a SPW 251/1. August 1943 is the date. I didn't expect any playtesting from you guys, just a back-handed grog answer. Heh.
  5. Nope. Full strength teams. They weren't under fire and dismounted behind a hill.
  6. This happened to me in a scenario that I've been playing. I had a couple of HMG crews in a halftrack and, when they dismounted, their ammo count went from around 100 to around 70. I did a search, but couldn't find exactly what I wanted. Does this happen all the time?
  7. The 88 at the IWM is an early model FlaK, not a PaK. It was designed for AA so it had no gun shield. Later models had shields, though. See? Just click and drag the panorama to the right a little.
  8. Are these the 'suicide dogs' that so many Eastern front scholars and veterans have mentioned? The 3rd and 4th dogs from the left look like they have bombs with trip fuses on their backs.
  9. I found "The German Northern Theater of Operations 1940-1945" in a discount rack at a thrift store yesterday. The text is a bit dry for me, but it has a bunch of fold-out campaign maps. Good grog reading, I guess. If anyone wants it, let me know. First come, first serve.
  10. Well, it certainly is comforting to know that I wasn't the only one frustrated by this scenario. Usually, I just ran out of time, too.
  11. It's better to have a half-squad chewed up on recon than a whole platoon. You have to accept certain losses.
  12. I don't understand how a person can say he doesn't have time or can't be bothered to post a scenario review when he has thousands of posts on a related forum,...but I don't understand many things.
  13. T-34/85s and IS-2s? I'm guessing you meant Autumn 1944. Speaking of the Panthers shot trap, the problem was that if a round struck the rounded mantlet on its lower half(below the gun)it could ricochet down into the top of the hull above the driver and radio operator. By the way, how exactly is this modelled in the game? If it happens to a Panther, will it register as a top penetration?
  14. Heh. After a bit of perusing, I noticed that the book isn't all that new. Still, I'm glad the wife grabbed it for me. On a side note, according to Mr. Nash himself, a 2nd edition of Hell's Gate will be released in the fall. This is great for me because I stupidly decided not to get the book when I first saw it.
  15. My wife, being the fabulous woman that she is, just bought me 'Tigers in Combat II' by Wolfgang Schneider. So far, I see lots of unit histories and great photos. There's a bit of the German griping that I've encountered in other books of this subject, but I recommend it to everyone.
  16. I'd like to take this time to make an early announcement of my candidacy for president in 2008 under the American National Socialist banner. Those wishing to make campaign contributions may send their bank account numbers to here. Together we can win!

  18. Wow! I didn't expect such an emotional response. I've just seen a few bumper stickers and thought this would be the place to ask. Andreas, what's wrong with Alitalia? Did you try to fly to Italy?
  19. Okay. First, I saw a bumper sticker on some guy's truck and now this. Is this merchandise for a fan/re-enactment club?
  20. You can't order a MG(or any other unit, for that matter) to oscillate or scatter their fire in a suppressive mode. I think this is why there is an area of effect.
  21. Japanese tanks have to be the ugliest vehicles to blight the battlefield.
