Playing CMBO recently, I unbogged a tank for the first time. An M4A3 Sherman bogged while fast moving through open ground. The next turn, the movement line was still on the screen, so I clicked on the square and changed it to Hunt. After hitting GO, the tank resumed moving at hunt speed.

When you use the LOS or targeting lines, it will show the firepower rating being used for that distance.

When I first began playing CMBO, I had a difficult time adjusting to the third dimension after playing 2D board games for years. However, the more I played, which is a lot, it just became natural. Something I do that helps, is click on a unit and press the N key. The red target line will show every opposing unit at which your unit can shoot. This is essentially the same as showing LOS. If I decide not to shoot at anything, I just cancel the red line and either move or hide the unit.

I'd like to convert some of my favorite CMBO maps to the CMBB editor. Is it easy or difficult to do? Is there a way to transfer the maps or must I recreate them tile-by-tile?

The AI is very poor at attacking intelligently. It's decent at defending. I would recommend, that when playing versus the AI, you always play the attacking side. It's also a lot of fun to play a human opponent.

I like the West better, so I would say to get CMAK. However, BFC is going to create a new engine and will likely start with the Western Front. Also, you may want to consider getting CMBB, as there is certainly going to be a CMAK patch to fix the bugs in the programming.

This may be the case, but it also brings up something else. I was never in the military, but even I know enough not to send arty 200 meters to my left when I want it to go 200 meters dead ahead, just because smoke and dust obscured my LOS for twenty seconds. I don't think I'd be *that* much off when calling in the strike.

When I tried to play, the screen said it could not be played at less than 800x600. If this is so, why was I given the choice to take 640x480? Is there a way around this? I could sure use the larger letters on some of the screens.

I have CMBO Special Edition and I just purchased the CMBB SpeciaL Edition last Saturday. In playing the games, I usually look at the names used for the various soldiers; squad leaders, tank commanders, etc. I was wondering, if anyone has seen their own last name used in any of the games. If so, did the soldiers do anything heroic in the battle? I have a very common last name, but I've never seen it used. Hopefully, if it ever is, he'll do me proud.

Why do snipers only get ten shots? Surely they could carry more rounds than that.

How about when a tree is on the map, that's where the tree actually is? That way, you wouldn't see the following: "Driver, park the tank behind those trees." "Okay, Sarge, but remember, the trees are abstracted. We might be parking behind trees that aren't really there."

You've noticed that, too? I've wondered for a while now why infantry in buildings so easily take casualties from other infantry or from MGs.

I have no experience with mods. How would I do this? Is there a tutorial?

Is there a mod to change the colors of the unit bases? I have a visual condition that causes me to have difficulty seeing certain shades of red against a green background. This makes it quite difficult to play scenarios involving the British and Canadians.

An interesting thing I've seen about the AI shooting a smoke screen to block the LOS of a tank, is that I've seen AFVs do it when the ammo box says they don't have any smoke remaining.

What is PBEM Helper? I've had CMBO for only a few months and am just beginning my first email game, which is also, of course, my first game against a human player. I'd be willing to try two more if anyone is willing to play a newbie and not slaughter me mercilessly. sanok29@hotmail.com

There was a show on the History Channel a few days ago called The Samurai and the Swastika. It said that both Germany and Japan had planned Operation Orient, the joint invasion of Russia. However, when Japan lost the Batle of Midway, the US became a threat to them they never expected to face. Because they didn't want to fight a two-front war, they did not invade Russia with Germany as they were expected to do. If Britain had been defeated, the US would have been able to send more forces into the Pacific. Of course, this would also have created the possible threat of some sort of Axis incursion to the US east coast. I'm thinking, the US wouldn't have been as involved in the Western Front and Germany would be ruling most of Europe to this day.

Since I'm much more interested in the Western Front, and CMAK is sure to have improvements over CMBB, I'll buy CMAK. I just hope they make hiding in trees more realistic. It gets old seeing an LOS pass through 25 meters of woods.
