  1. One thing I noticed, being a SSN and all maybe I'm missing something in the mechanics, but I always seem to deal the SS savage blows, while getting tamped by Volkstrum. /shrug In CMBO that is. I've got a lot to learn here, or relearn as the case may be And whoever came up with that Iron Roadblock is definitely a sadist First mission it just wiped me out, 2nd one I got all my infantry to the objective intact and was properly spanked, THEN the KV-1 got all my tanks, the 88s, and for the whole fight couldn't even get my 37s out of the trees they kept backing back up into them even though never under fire. God what a sick individual.
  2. Sure what the heck Sublime, I'm free tonight let's do one. Haven't done a tcp-ip in a very long time.
  3. BTW, that KV-1 had no business on my road. Iron Roadblock just kicked my tail back to Germany. I'm always in a hurry, so losing all my tanks to it on turn 2 was bound to get me demoted to 'end of rope tester' anyways. Also, what do you guys think of this strategy guide?
  4. The definitive dynamic campaign. Mein Gott, if they are actually putting this together... Yes I am crazy. But look, I'm 38 eh? If nothing else, that means I'm running out of time fast! So hurry up will ya?
  5. Okay let me just say this... This ROCKS! As a SSN yank, I can't get over the absolutely wonderful support and excellent product that these boys have put out. If I were of Italian descent, I'd be crying by now! What care has been put into the needs of this gaming community is beyond measure, and the appreciation I feel for the effort put forth so far...I don't know how to express it. All I can say is, it's a rare feeling these days. Okay I posted all this nonsense in CMBO a few days again when it arrived in the mail, so on the the BIG ONE. CMBB arrives today, neatly packaged and in a timely manner, and the painless installation I just went through again... <starts crying>...dangit... Okay now that I can see to type again, let me explain something of myself. Been wargaming since I was 13, I'm 38 now. I am a battle masocist. My idea of the best game ever made? THIS. With one addition. Give me the ENTIRE campaign available from my desktop. Okay okay, it's a big request. Yes, I see Biltong's post. My friends think I'm crazy, because my idea of THE GAME has always been, and they know this, War in Europe...at this scale I want to do a week of play on the strategic map, then fight all the battles, to be simple about it. Hehehehe. Well, at least I have THIS. What I ask for is to put me in command of any historical unit I please, then put me in the fight. At any starting date I so choose, and let me fight the rest of the war! THAT is a campaign! In Russia, it's the ONLY campaign Maybe it is available and I just don't see it, and certainly making the battles and operations is my forte, I love doing that. Okay, again, this is certainly no complaint. Just a suggestion for possible future consideration. Give me the unit, and 4 years of killing Russians, what more can a crazy masochistic wargamer ask?!?
  6. Bah, forget it. I cleaned it again, sure enough it installed properly. Let that be a lesson to all you that think you know what you are doing Also a lesson in how to clean a CD...
  7. I just got it today, CMBB. As I go to install it, near the end it returns me the following: CRC failed in Wav\00033608.wav Extracting Wav\00033700.wav CRC failed in Wav\00033700.wav Extracting Wav\00033701.wav Extracting Wav\00033702.wav CRC failed in Wav\00033702.wav Extracting Wav\00033703.wav Extracting Wav\00033704.wav CRC failed in Wav\00033704.wav Extracting Wav\00033705.wav CRC failed in Wav\00033705.wav Unexpected end of archive In fact, I cleaned the disk after the 2nd failure, and it got worse. Previously it appeared to be a single file not installing, now this is the last attempt above.
  8. I'm a yank here, just stumbled across your CMBO product the other day and thought, well, why not give it a try? I never heard of it before, but it looked very good, and the people I went and saw posting had nothing but good stuff to say, why not? In 36 hours it arrived at my door. Since then, I have had my faith in mankind restored, at least as far as this goes. It was so easy to install, I couldn't believe my eyes when I lit up a smoke, took one drag, and it was already done! Wow, even went into my system where I asked it to! Well, time to go download the tons of patches. NONE? I don't need the patch, it says! These two issues right here had me practically doing backflips. A gaming company that actually is interested in making things EASY for their customers? What kind of thought went into this? Let's find out.... So I loaded up and started to play the tutorial. Very easy to use, and very easy to learn. What's the drawback? There must be something... So I decided to create my own battle. What, that's it? It took me all of 5 minutes to figure it out and build a fight, and I never once went to the manual! MY GOD! Then I actually fought the battle, and it was like a dream. I was able to accomplish the objectives and win a tactical victory even though I had only played the game once, because of my background in tactical issues and how to win a fight. I didn't have to fight with the interface, the manual, or anything, just the Wehrmacht! It was realistic, easy to play, I even went and made deliberately bad decisions to see the results of that aspect of the action, and they were right on, very accurate representation. KUDOS to you guys for the best, the absolute finest, wargame I have ever seen! I can't tell you enough how much your efforts are appreciated. You really know what your customers want and actually give it to us! I got this product in the mail yesterday, and now have already ordered CMBB to get my Eastern Front fix, along with the strategy guide (which I am confident is leaps and bounds above Prima stuff). It's about time we had real geniuses providing our needs! THANKS AGAIN! A VERY satisfied customer! (who is also very critical of products) -------------------------------------------- I want this public, because it means a great deal to me how I feel about a really fine product that we have here. I only wish I knew about it sooner. Just ordered CMBB now, can't wait to start collecting commy prisoners! Okay this is useless info, so I'm going to settle down now, open a nice cold beer, and level a town in Belgium!
  9. OMG I love it. Played the tutorial, suffered a defeat, what's the odds. Then went and generated an automatic one. It is so easy I can't get over it. Didn't even have to read the manual. This is what it's all about folks! Won that fight vs Fallshirmjager. Decided to create my own huge fight. American assault on a Belgian town defended by fanatical SS. I love to design scenarios, IL-2 Sturmovik saw me hosting tons of missions I created in the past. But this was sooo easy! The result of the fight? Axis major victory, though the Americans annihilated my front defenses and blew up half the town LOL. This is FUN! Realism is great. I love and always loved fighting in the snow (especially in Summer). I'm not waiting, time to order CMBB! Bring on the Russians! Only one thing I've seen so far that I would have liked, more battles that were sent with the game. Many more. So, I'll be off to all your depots this afternoon to check some of YOUR missions and see what the S&T guys have come up with CU soon. As soon as I figure out to use my artillery better
  10. Hello all. Yank here, looking forward to getting into the game. First off I would like to say this. This was the single easiest installation I ever had to go through! It went where I told it too, and when I went to get the tons of patches I expected... IT TOLD ME I DIDN'T NEED THEM! It actually told me, it didn't beep, let me download it without warning, anything. Wow, what thought was put into this simple common courtesy, has me excited. I can't wait to see what kind of thought was put into the game! If other companies would put this kind of thought into the needs of their customers, well, I'll just say...thank you guys for this, others don't realize the inconveniences they have put us through even when I've told them about it. I grew up in the old days, when we didn't have electric power to play games like this The old Avalon Hill (and others) stuff was my forte. I generally still attend the convention every year, and play Empires in Arms. I always thought the advent of computer gaming would create a wonderful platform for play. As it turns out it has gotten consistenly worse. Well, back to the manual. Hoping for the best. Dangit I bought this to test the playability of it, but If I was aware of the Russia version, I would definitely have done that instead! Oh well, if this is as good as it looks, I'll be ordering it soon CU out there guys! Wepps draws a line across the map - "It's Normandy."
