Wow, who is the evil one, you are the guy saying that the U.S. should fall and have civil war etc. How many peoples lives will all this devestate?

I tought the video was very well made and also made some really good points, including giving a newer point of view. I don't see how the Soviets could have won if the war continued after the fall of Berlin agianst the Western Allies, esp if German's were helping.

You see, whenever the admin is to scared to deal with something or is to scared to have people argue, they just close a topic. Its their way of not solving issues and leaving things half finished.

IMO: As The Martains I found the best and easiest way to destroy the enemy was not a direct attack, which can get bogged down even with these advantages, but by using my advantage in manuever to encircle large portions of humans. The first main group you encounter to your east I simply went underneth and cut them off, then basicly did the same thing for the rest of the game. I ultimatly won only lossing 1 tripod to the Thunderchild. I think maybe the humans should have a more spread out defence (although it takes away from the surprise factor) so they are not so easily cut off. I Even crossed the river before taking the Palace and attacked to the east cutting off all forces in a large pocket, after that was over they barley had anything left to stop me.

I like it. I always felt subs should cost less to reflect their wide-spread use IRL. Bombing should do more damage, however the arguement could be made that in reallity it DID cost the allies more then they gained, however they kept going because they could afford more losses compared to the Germans. Rockets never really worked in SC1 or SC2 and it always bothered me.

Anyone ever play Imperial Conquest 2? Great abandon-ware that is set in Roman times, you can play as 16 different major and minor powers, but only like 5 have a decent chance of winning as the rest are such small nations that they are usually overrun but still fun to try. They include Rome, Carthage, Persia, Greece, and smaller less orginized nations like Gaul and nubia. It had a cool system for battle much like For Liberty where you would enter a differnt mode when armies engaged themselves. You would have to use real tactics for example Heavy Infantry was great against almost all other units but was counter by Heavy Calvary. Light Infantry could not stand toe-to-toe with Heavy Infantry but could use Pillum (spears) to counter Calvary and excellent against archers etc. Made for almost a chess like match that was based on posistioning and timing, very cool IMO. On the strategic level you raised your armies, including mercs if you could afford them and find some, and used a simple diplomatic model. You could have 3 trading partners max and the longer you remained partners the more gold your trading would add to your income. It was very realistic because if your nation only had a few smaller towns and cities you could only raise so many troops. (your Mobilization % would rise and max at 100) After words you could not raise any more men unless some of yours died/disbanded or you conquered more cities and thus population. This is why it is so hard for the smaller nations of the game to win because Nations like Seleucid could afford (both in gold and population) to raise many massive armies while smaller nations would usually be confined to 1 or 2 smaller armies. If you conquered a certain percentage of the enemies cities (based on population) they would eventually surrender and the rest of the nation would just switch to your side, so you didn't have to painstakingly take over every single small village in the far corners of the map to defeat someone, but it wasn't exactly easy at the same time. All in all I found it to be a well-balanced game that was both challenging and fun. We should use some of its ideas as a model perhaps. The link I provided has a free full download of it. Nah it isn't that bad. Yea millions die, but atleast it isn't graphic violence. Let's not forget it really happened, so it isn't like Doom or something that just pulls horrendous violence out of nowhere and splashes it all over your screen. (not that I care but still) Look at what is happening in Iraq, terrorists just bombed a kids soccer game and a week ago used chemical weapons on civilians. Terrorists also rape people's wives and daughters if they find out that they support the elected government. Should we censor the news?

If it isn't going to be the ACW then make it WWI. The Civil War had better tactics IMO then Napoleonic Wars as well as more wide-spread simultanious fighting. Whereever Napoleon was not, there was no fighting. So that would be very boring IMO. In the Civil War, even without the great battles in the East with Lee and Jackson, there was still large engagements in the West and South, as well as some limited naval actions. However we are in pretty bad need of a properaly done WWI game, we have a lot of civil war games, even The Blue and the Gray was decent.

The Russin AI is worst of all. If refuses to take advantage of ANY and ALL chances to encircle or destroy targets of opportunity. I have literally tried to hand them a Stalingrad just to try and make the game interesting and found AI totally lacks the concept of encirclement. Without this it cannot win. Even if you delete half of your own units you will beat the AI in Russia because it not only sucks at offense, but the defence of stacking around cities does little more then save you time by letting you know where all his units are so you can destroy them. Even with 5 strong units defending a single city, the vastness of Russia and the large gaps between cities allow you to EASILY pincer those units and the city off, basicly putting them all to waste.

I don't have an hour to read the article but I can tell you for certain that my country will not surprise nuke Russia. Much more likley we will use tactical nukes on Iran, but even then it is more likley the Israelis will do it first and save us the trouble. Russia under Putin is a big threat to the U.S. behind the scence. He hates us and desperatly wants to see Russia as #1. Probally has a lot to do with Bravado and pride, and money of course. He is nothing more than a glorified gangster. FYI most people inside the U.S. who have the full story do not consider nuking Japan to be a "stain" on us at all. I for one am glad we saved so many lives both in Japan and American. Can't argue with the facts even as bad as the A-bomb is. :/

I cannot see how occupying Iran could be harder then Japan or Germany... both of those countries were VERY die hard and both were ultimatly pacified with relativly little resistince once offical hostilities ended. I also feel Iraq would be pacified if Iran and Syria were not sending actual people and weapons in to disrupt the U.S. Prehaps we will have to start carpet bombing again. If the population centers do not wish to comply then bomb them, I know it sounds harsh and it is easier said then done to kill women and children, but it is a lot better then fighting street to street against a hostle populus Stalingrad style. Overall I simply cannot see how Iran could be tougher then Germany, but then again Germany was fighting two fronts. I would be in favor of a month straight bombing and bombardment. All the while send in small recon teams to scout out bunkers and other defences hard to spot from the air and mark them for attack. We can do a lot of wearing down since time is on our side, not theirs. The big problem would be SAM sites. Anyone with a slight idea of what they are talking about must realize Iran probally has more SAM missles then troops. They vary in effectivness... esp. against the most advanced fighters in the world... but still it won't be total air supremacy. America now a day's has one major problem and that is numbers. The army that defeated Germany was in the multiple millions and backed by powerful allied armies. Currently we really would gather what, half a million? Our equipment is very complicated and hard to produce so any serious losses might leave us impotent for some time. Only our air power and concentrated and extended bombing capaigns will reduce Iran enough for a full scale invasion without massive losses. Otherwise you will have to fight hard to every mile and it isn't exactly a small country..

Iran's military does not pose an extreme danger to the U.S. but it is more advanced then most give them credit for. Not only have the purchased all kinds of advanced and world-class weapons like the silkworm from China, but they have an active and powerful arms industry that builds ever more advanced weapons of Iranian design or modified Russian design. Now most of their military-industrial power might be destroyed early on, but some will survive and we could be talking high-losses for any Western Attack.

Steel Panthers WaW is one of my lasting favorites, really gets into battlefield tactics. I liked this game called D-day the beginning of the end when I was younger but it is really so-so Close Combat seris Aces of the Pacific was awesome I wish I could still play, so was Task Force 1942 PTO was awesome as well I could go on and on really I love WWII games lol
