  2. Dude you don't realize that the figure of 40 or 50k tanks is during the entire war... not when America entered. You have to build your own stuff and you can come pretty close to realistic numbers when compared to other nations in-game.
  3. Thrawns mod is very very good. Its basicly all I play when I want a WWII game.
  4. The whole Idea of HQs being destroyed by air attacks is silly. It was silly in SC1 and it is silly in SC2. Historicaly I can't remember ever hearing about something like it being effectivly used. In other words commanders of armies in WWII were overwhelmingly safe unless their entire army got surrounded like in Stalingrad. No top generals that I can think of died to air strikes, and the most I can see an airstrike doing is disrupting operations for a short time while the staff gets cover. Also consider how ridicilous it is that an HQ unit, something that should encompass a few generals and their staffs respectivly, take up tiles that are like 50 miles wide lol. How could anyone find a few hundred men 200 miles behind the lines with enough accuracy to do an airstrike in the 40s! Didn't happen. Now if you consider HQs as some kind of supply depot or all the logistical troops it makes a little more sense, but supplys for multiple armies were not all stored in the same small area both for the reason that they were vulnerable and that 4 or 5 armies tend to be to spread out to rely on the same spot for supply. IMO HQs should not be able to be targeted by aircraft at all. And if they are, it should effect the supply of attached units or something of that nature, not kill off the HQ. If it was so easy to just bomb enemy supply and command units then the Germans would have had no commanders or supply by D-day! Certainly not a month after words. Why didn't the allies just kill Rommel with an airstrike and destroy all the supply and logistics for the German defenders at and around Normandy? Sure much of these supply lines and even command instulations were bombed, but did it have such a drastic effect that we should see results like BioWizard had, were 15 whole russian armies or corps had ZERO supply and were completly useless in combat! Air power was far far better at pre-battle and battlefield attacks on combat units. Even the massive strategic bombing campaign is argued by some to have been more a waste of resources then it was worth.
  5. I wish I had more time to check out the editor. It seems fairly complicated compared to SC1 because of all the scripting and what not, but If I ever do learn it fully I will make some killer mods.
  6. I wouldn't do it. Atleast from my prospective it is too expensive an operation that early in the game. Germany is too close with its navy and airforce plus even if you take it there is nothing really stoping him from just taking it from you after any excess forces have been withdrawn. Only thing you would be gaining and denying him would be loot.
  7. I remember the old fortress america game. Too bad the A.I. is really slow in SC2 that needs to be fixed. Are nuclear weapons part of your game?

  10. Hmm I see. How come this particular turn takes so long you think? It has to be atleast 3x as long, if not more, then a normal one.
  11. HC, you are saying you load up the file and the AI plays out its turn and lets you take your turn right after? I just loaded it up again. I thought maybe I didn't wait long enough but after it did a defensive assesment it started "thinking..." and never finishes. I sat here for 10 minutes and nothing moved or changed. I hit alt-ctrl-del and it said it was "Not Responding" so I closed it. This is strange I don't see how it could all of a sudden not work on my comp but work on yours.
  12. Why not make the bridges ports and lower the cost of transport to 10 or something? This way they can be destroyed as well to prevent crossing
  13. Definatly needed Is it possible to use real military orginization to speed the planning of AI turns? I.E. If 2 corps, 1 army, and a tank group were/are all part of General Pattons Attack force, would it be possible for the A.I. to think of objectives for HIM insted of each unit itself? In other words assign tasks/objectives to groupings of units that have an overall goal insted of individual units sent to complete the same goal.

I never really had problems with your software like this before so I am tempted to think it might have something to do with the mod? But I don't really have much knowledge about thing's like this so be objective. Thank you for your time.
  15. My game keeps hanging up during AI turn! It is one turn after Russia enters and im PISSED! any idea why?
  16. I recently started a game of Tharwns European mod. Everything is fine til 1 turn after USSR enters the war. Then the A.I. hangs up while "thinking" during it's turn and does not return. I reloaded the autosave and same thing happens again! I am very displeased as you can imagine, the first part of that game took me 3 hours to play and now its all for nothing. Anyone else having a similar problem or do the admins know what might be happening?
  17. Is there anyway of splitting the unit into two just for the purpose of bitmaps? Someway to link the movement together. Would be kinda cool also because you could damage one part of the massive thing and not the other, something that big isn't like knocking out a tank you have to deal a lot of damage.
  18. I like the whole idea but I don't think it should cripple the germans so early in the game. However it DID cripple them late in the war so this should be reflected.
  19. Filthy Martains! I think the first problem would be supply for the martains. Unless you were going to setup like somekind of "landing-site" city that they can connect to for supply. Would the martains only have their tri-pods as units or would they have some kinda of infantry? In all versions of the movie atleast the earth forces could not damage the martains at all, only draw them away from cities or people evacuating. How exactly would there be a conflict? In other words, if you were the Earthlings, what would your moves be? Send armies in front to block/delay the martains? That would be very boring and repetative. From the martain standpoint, If you only have so many units to start with, you will not be able to occupy all the cities so the humans can move right in after you, sorta like cat and mouse. So you would have to add a script where cities are destroyed totally and i'm not sure that can be done.

  21. I'm not talking about this forum. I'm talking about the world. Having that attitude and allowing it to continue is just as bad as doing it yourself. Do you really want people that are supposed to be freinds and allies helping terrorists to kill us? That is the next step here, these people hate America SO badly that they are a few steps away from solid support of terror! that doesn't just mean the U.S., that means Europe and Canada too. People need to stop being lazy and do something.
  22. I posted a thread on a message board for an online game I no longer play. The thread, found here makes a comment about how the Iraqi people need to step up and confront terrorism. Later in the thread a lot of anti-american racists come out and bash the U.S. and praise the terrorists! These are white guy's from europe no less! One guy, Beltzshumeltz, claims he watches the 9/11 videos to get a laugh at all the american murderers that die in the fires. I know this is off topic but I would really appreciate anyone who thinks this is outragous make a quick name on the forum and post your support for America and not the terrorists. Even if you don't agree with America all the time, you cannot allow people like this guy and his freinds to claim people working in a building deserve to burn to death because America invaded Iraq 3 years later! Please don't let terrorist propaganda convince you that America is the bad guy. I would take GWB over Osama bin Laden any day month or year.
  23. Yea but it is too much of a gap here. It needs to be adjusted. Why are the allied navies so underpowered? I surrounded submarines with ships and can't sink them for months. The Italian navy sent two CRUISERS to north africa and the combined French/British fleet could not score ONE damage point even with 7 ships. not ONE point of damage!
  24. Played a few turns vs the AI. Solid game. Of course the AI made a few mistakes that are ridicilous like DoW on denmark but no land attack to speak of lol. The amount of units compared to how much each nation is making has widened very much with this mod. I actually lost a tile of the maginot line because I could not afford the hugley expensive replacements for the Army Group there. 3 reenforcement is 90 MPP, 90% of Frances income! The army is taking at least that many, if not more losses every turn, not to mention the aircraft trying to defend them. From what I see ethier damage should be slightly reduced or expenses brought down just a tad. You have to consider in SC2 there is a lot going on that requires HUGE mpp expenses and this map doesn't seem to have the resources to support even half of it. This was already a problem with SC2 but it has widened with this mod. Consider you have to pay 350 for some research areas, that is between 2 and 3 turns FULL MPP income alone. This doesn't include diplomacy, which is nearly the same price. So just to buy 1 tech with the UK you need 2 or 3 turns without needing to replace battle losses. If you want to try and counter any German diplomacy forget it you are bankrupt. If a battleship of yours is heavily damaged you might as well count it out of the game, you will never be able to spare the MPPs to repair it properly. Overall I just feel the major powers had a little more room to play with. I don't think week after week was a choice between having better technology and raising a few more troops. Look what the Germans alone did with their relativly small nation, produced the worlds most advanced weapons as well as large scale mass production and diplomatic efforts. The UK certainly kept the troops comming and didn't fall back in any other area. I am just getting the feeling that I nearly have to ignore research and diplomacy if I don't want to get run over on the battlefield, but if I ignore them I will be getting run over later!
  25. Well I got it to work and played my first game. I recieved a Stalemate as the French, however in reallity I had won. All English forces besides two bridages were routed, along with all but 1 english HQ. The entire western part of the map was mine and I redeployed with just BARLEY enough time to block the prussians from gaining the 4 towns in the south center of the map and form and line south to north. After that my artilary was just breaking them to bits as they ran into my elite infantry, the longer it went the more losses they stacked. Very enjoyable game.
