  1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELZSeiTpOUw Here is something I found. It might pertain to the conversation.
  2. The yellow line traces back to an enemy unit that is targeting your unit. It shows where they are taking fire from.
  3. Nice! I guess it all worked out in the end, despite my pessimism. From the way the screenshot looked, it seemed that the Stag's cover arc was placed differently, but that worked out beautifully. I think the Staghound crew deserves a commendation when the day is done.
  4. SPOILERS to Follow . . . . . . . . . . . . . OK, I got really bored today so I ran some tests on this situation, here is the most typical result I got: Turn-1 Staghound survived, Wolverine Died. Turn-2 Removed cover arc from Staghound, and targeted closest StuG, Reversed Sherman to engage. Stag shot bounced from StuG as it turned towards Stag, Sherman shot and missed, was KO'ed by second StuG. First StuG put 2 shots into Stag and KO'ed it. I think the biggest problem is the cover arc that is present on the Staghound in the screenshot. Tux, I hope you removed the cover arc or adjusted it before you hit 'go', because the cover arc, as it is placed in the screenshot, will prevent the Stag from engaging the StuG's. Also, the Stag runs past the StuG's so fast that the StuG's do not turn all the way around, instead they only turn to the side a few degrees then turn back to their normal facing. However, this test is assuming that the StuG's have a blue cover arc facing down the road, and if they don't, then the plan would proceed differently. However, when I ran the test with all cover arcs removed, both the Wolverine and the Staghound were killed, and both StuG's still survived. So, even after a very bored afternoon of running many tests, I must conclude that your plan has only a 10% chance of success, success being determined by killing only one StuG. I was not able to run the plan in any way to KO both of them. (Forgive me if this post is unwanted, but I was VERY bored this afternoon.)
  5. Good luck! Just hope the Staghound doesn't get KO'ed when it passes in front of the StuG's, that will throw your whole plan out the window, and possibly result in a dead Stag, and a dead Wolverine as well, with nothing to show for it. It might be better to have the wolverine stop just short of LOS before the next turn, so you can abort it if the Stag is unsuccessful. That would limit the effect of the Stag being a distraction though, hmmm. I dunno, however it plays out, good luck. BUT! If I happen to be right, I just want everyone to know that I called it EDIT: Personally I think you are being a little too aggressive here, you already know where the StuG's are, and they aren't an immediate threat.
  6. It looks like this battle is 85% finished (to numberize things). Very nice DAR reporting, I enjoy reading these reports very much.
  7. I just read the whole thread, and I think the file depot idea is great. Personally, I wouldn't mind donating a few bucks to BFC to use the service without limits, even though I don't download mods and scenarios often. (Considering I already have downloaded hundreds of scenarios, and dozens of operations over the years) I think a file depot is great for those people (including me) who shop around for maybe one or two mods at a time.
  8. Hello! In honor of the occasion I put together a short video. It's not very good, but if you have ten minutes to waste then you can check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wg1yClPFXCs Happy Birthday Marines! EDIT: I just posted it so it won't be active for a few minutes.
  9. Maybe the Tac AI "thinks" that there might be enemy in the buildings, even if there are no enemy troops on the map? The way it looks to me is that the vehicle has a look around before driving between two buildings, or simply decides not to drive between them at all. Two buildings close to a road does make a fantastic ambush point...
  10. My advice: 1) Don't get shot in the face or the ear. 2) Suppression fire is your friend. 3) Make sure you can reload quickly, a good hopper is a full hopper. 4) Carry a lot of extra ammo. 5) If you are playing a team game, make sure you have a plan. 6) If your marker is low velocity (200fps) it's a good idea to aim above your target at any range longer than 25 meters. Don't forget to have fun. That is all.
  11. I found this video while I was cruising YouTube. It might be of interest to someone: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cQZg84so1Q It is a German Army Training film depicting Infantry close assaulting tanks. There are some weapons shown in the film I had never seen before.
  12. When I'm camping I open the can slightly, stick it in the fire for about ten minutes, then eat it straight out of the can. It's also excellent during winter camping trips, being high in fat, it helps to keep you warm. Especially on days where you take it out of the fire, and it freezes in 30 seconds. (That was one crazy camping trip.) Also, fried SPAM with BBQ sauce is also great.
  13. Thank you for this, I'll read up on these when I get back from my flight. (I have a seven hour flight in an hour, wish me luck!)
  14. Kettler, Lucke, I'll pick up the book as soon as I get paid. I had planned on reading it anyway. NIX, Lt. Fick had to put up with a lot of crap too. He held it together pretty good, and it was good to see that he was not just a "by the book" officer. I think the character really showed through in the last couple of episodes.
  15. Well, the show is over, I was wondering if everyone (well those who watched it anyway) might want to have a bit of discussion? 1) Did you like the show? Why or why not? 2) Favorite character? 3) Favorite moment? Personally I liked the show. I liked the whole 'tell it how it was' feel to it. The show's creators didn't seem to gloss over anything. The whole series had a gritty feel to it, and I found it to be of a much better caliber than other shows or movies about OIF. The character I could relate to most, was Trombley. My buddy Mike is kind of like him (he joined the army to kill people or so he says) he went to Iraq 4 times, and I never heard him say anything bad about the whole experience. He's kind of a psycho too. My favorite moments in the series was listening to Person's rants about anything in particular. He definitely has a way with words. Also that bit in the last episode where Chaffin and those other guys break into the office. Chaffin asking for his 'big legged secretary' was hilarious. Those little moments of humor in between everything really gave the show a lot of character, and kind of reminded me of Band of Brother's Sgt Luz. Watching Generation Kill was an experience I won't soon forget, and I'm glad I was able to see it. I will definitely be finding the book, and will be looking foward to reading it. What are your thoughts, anyone?
  16. My roomate might get charged with simple assault, and we were wondering what kind of charges/penalties etc. came with that. Anyone who has some legal knowledge, or maybe a personal experience, could you let me know what to expect? Either respond here or personal messange will do fine. Thak you- SLIM
  17. Brothers In Arms Hells Highway: Release Date: Nov 14, 2006 Release Date: Summer 2008 Release Date: Aug 26, 2008 Release: Sep 23, 2008 When is this (bleeping) game coming out? I'm going crazy! I've been waiting for two years! I put off buying an XboX 360 for this game! Argh! It's true that it's now coming out in October? *Crying* I'm going to go get drunk, and watch the E3 video again.
  18. WOOHOO! The forums are back! Now I can go back to waiting! I missed being here.
  19. Since the visibility is so poor, you might want to split a squad, and send the half squad ahead of the rest of your troops to scout around. Keep them in cover as much as possible, and sneak them to edge of cover to allow them to look around, hopefully without being seen. A couple of Tank Hunter teams could also do this. If you have plenty of ammo, you might want to recon by fire. Have your squads area fire into suspected enemy locations, and try to get the enemy to shoot back, thus revealing themselves. Then you can suppress the enemy, and flank them so you can engage from multiple angles, finishing them off quickly. Also, don't be afraid to move very slowly, since visibility is poor, move or sneak from position to position very slowly, so if you are taken under fire you would be able to pull your men back while suffering a minimum of casualties. Remember that even though you can't see very well, neither can your enemy. I'm by no means an expert, but hopefully these suggestions prove useful in some form. Good Luck.
  20. Good! I can't wait to see more, I love reading AAR's.
