  1. With regard to my question regarding the quick link for the most recent files. It was not for the purpose of mass downloading. The present system is fast enough really. I tend to collect scenarios by authors and get a few at a time but do not play them all straight away, so reading the notes only helps a bit. So I often do not read them, but trust my past experience playing that authors past scenarios. If we can view scenario reviews by a particular person and select the scenario author as well this may be a good combination, and get me reading more in the future. I have found that what I interpret from the notes is often not what the author wanted to convey. I realise that this is my problem not the authors. From looking at the recent thread on "what do you want from briefings" other people have the same problem. The problem or benefit is that we all play for different reasons and that makes it very hard to provide meaningful briefings and reviews that suit a wide audience. Not on topic, but: Is it possible to view the texts and briefings in the scenarios with out opening them up in the game? If this is possible even with a mod program it would be very handy. I often look at a few scenario descriptions before I actually start to play a game. This means starting to load quiet a few before I actually start. Fussy I know. But that is what is good about the game, the variety. Just my thoughts.
  2. From reading the documentation it looks very good. From the perspective of an occasional visitor a drop down list for the "Author" search page 12 would be very nice. I have on a couple of occasions seen a review of a scenario on the forum but had a devil of a time finding the right author name to search by at the depot. If we are going to be able to search by reviewer their names in a drop down list would make it easier as well ref page 13. I think this is one of the best extra enhancements. With the most recent submission list, will the link take you straight to the download like CMMODS recent mods rather than go to the details screen for quick downloads? That is one thing I liked about the original Boots & Tracks Site it was a bit quicker to get more than one scenario. I hope you have plenty of bandwidth for the opening day for passwords.
  3. Hi MikeT, My vote would be for CMAK. I must admit I am using McMMM for CMAK and your CMMOS revamp for CMBO. I have all but forgotten CMBB now. I still like CMBO for the game play, but also like CMAK "nearly as much" for the new venhicles and Australians. I just play Hans small battles for CMBB now and I should imagine I will be playing these on CMAK soon. I could be wrong but I think I lot of people would be just concentrating on CMBO & CMAK now. But the new Operation Storfang may re-introduce some interest in CMBB for some. Just a thought.
  4. I am sure MikeT will have a few more up his sleeve for christmas. At least my connection will get a bit of a rest soon. Thanks for all the work so far MikeT.
  5. Thanks for the flags Juju, I will be using them to-night.
  6. Thanks Juju for the half size flags. I am at work now, but will get them as soon as I get home, they were my most sort after mod for CMAK. Cheers
  7. I like the flags, (and the new small arm as well of course) any chance of making a half size flag pack as well. I like the old half size CMBO flag size the best.
  8. I think charging for mods or scenarios if possible would go against the spirit of games like this. But on the other side I have made a donation to CMMODS to help with the hosting of the mods. Did I read somewhere that the next version of Operation Store Fang was going to be charged for? I agree with Hans. I would like to see more support from game makers for the modders & scenario makers. I have seen other game publishers give prizes. I think without the free add ons a lot less copies of the game would be sold. It is the community that makes or brakes a game like these ones, so I think the people who produce the free stuff should get more help and recognition. I also think BFC should help with the hosting of the mods, but for all I know they may already be doing that. Anyway my thanks go out to all the modders and scenario makers. Cheers.
  9. Just wondering, what is the game "PG" that a lot of people seem to be mentioning? I may have missed a good one it seems. One answer for Screeny's question, I have found a lot of older games work best under Win95. That is one reason I have a duel boot system with Win95.
  10. Very Nice, I hope you get around to doing all the small vehicles in CMAK. Just love em.
  11. Yes I go a bit overboard with the mods. But I would like to see a bit more emersion if possible but I do not know in what way. I trust the game makers in that respect based on what they have done so far. The only type of mods I have problems with are mods like the high detailed pavement mods which make me go a bit sea sick when I scroll to fast. I like nice smooth textures that are easy on the eye when scrolling for scenery, but very detailed soldiers and vehicles for up close. I would like to see some destructible terrain including bridges in the next version. I had the slight impression that CMAK voices, scenario length etc was aimed at a slightly younger audience that the last two versions, if that is correct more immersion could be on the cards. But that is probably not correct. Anyway we will all like the next game better, so it is all speculation and hope while we wait!
  12. I have always hated trying to cross barbed wire and something so simple as putting a small group on top of a tank never occured to me. Such a simple, but great solution. No wonder I loose so many games!
  13. I agree with the others. The forum is the best place, if you have the time to check regularly. If you do not check every other day you could miss a lot of good info. But that is part of what I like about this game, following the forum threads provide a lot of enjoyment as well. But he book is cheap, so to keep it in perspective it is a fair read and if you can not follow the forum all the time it certainly is not a waste of money. I night out costs a lot more. It is of more value if you have CMBB so you can try some of the scenario methods. The included photos are very poor. I have learnt a lot more from JasonC's & other posts but still think the book was worth the little it cost me. It costs about as much as a cheap night out (In Australia at least), but lasts a lot longer. And it good to read about the game, just don't expect the last word on tactics.
  14. Looks very promising. Please make a downloadable version when it is finished, not just web based.
  15. Very nice, Some of the downunder aussie uniforms need a bit of a touch up as well if you get the chance.
  16. Looking forward to seeing the new mods. Thanks for all the hard work.
  17. Stick with windows 98SE. It wil run more games and does not have product activation. I for one hope that the next version of combat mission is supported by Linux, as there is no way I will be using an operating system that supports product activation like XP where the manufacturer dictates how much I can tinker with my PC before I have to re register.
  18. Sounds Good, Could you start with the different theatres and their scenarios first for CMBO? Most of us have a few mods we can use and have been using but the theatre mods and scenarios are quiet rare. Also when the mods are posted for CMBO could they be uploaded by ruleset, not the current categories for non CMMOS mods. That way it will be easier to keep track of what mod goes with what ruleset. Same for CMAK. I do not know how others think. But I feel the current categories do not suit the CMMOS style of mods that are associated with rulesets. Look forward to using them.
  19. This must be an easy one, but what are the XML RSS lists at Boots & Tracks used for. I have had a look at them but do not know know the use for them. Extract from site below: The first feed syndicates this site's news. The second feed is for the true, hardcore scenario junkie. It propigates our scenario releases for anyone with an aggregator and an internet connection. Could someone enlighten me?
  20. Thanks, I clicked on next page then back to previous page. Now I can see all the new mods. Plenty of new mods to try.
  21. Just wondering if it is my browser or not. The latest mods for CMAK I am showing at CMMODS are dated 23/March/2004. Are there more recent ones? I have pressed F5 to refresh over the last few days but nothing new. Am I having browser problems? Just Curious
  22. It is a shame to see that some people have to wait to see a post from Mad Matt to establish that BFC care about their game and it's users. Unless one is very new to the forum their support must be obvious. As for the blonds, maybe Juju can put one in a boat for us.
  23. If PAKFAN sees this. Just wondering if we are going to see a version of your interface mod for CMAK. Not that the default one is bad. I have yours for both the other games and would love one for CMAK as well. It would be nice to have the same interface for all the games. PS I liked the CMBO version a little better than the CMBB one.
  24. I downloaded your assualt boat modwhen I try to view them I get an error message not a valid file. I have just had a look at Juju's site very nice. Well worth a look. Wish his mods looked as good on my screen. Will have to get a better vidoe card one day.
  25. Yes I was kidding, but would like the rod and bait as an option, as for smiley's I don't like them. They get in the way in the printable veraions of the threads. Keep up the good work.
