Nice. As Harry says we could try moving the fire action point to adjust where the smoke comes from.
I think I'll have a go at some of this once I get a couple other things out.

Do you use the Object > Apply > Location and Object > Apply > Rotation commands? With an object selected, one which you have moved, using these two commands seems to fix most of the jumping issues. It resets the origin and confirms your transformations. Object > Apply > Rotation & Scale is also useful but I find that really only works properly on newly imported NON CM textures, stuff one has found online for example. Applying Rotation & Scale to CM items that have been manipulated can actually wreck things like action points and undo work.
It's a real pain. Took me ages to figure out where the hatch was disappearing to; it would spin off like a frisbee. I had to put the Pz IV on a bridge in the end to see where it had gone. Have only fixed the commanders hatch as I figured the only reason the rest of the hatches are going to be opened is when the bunker is hit and the crew bail out, then it just looks like the hatches were blown off.
Getting anything out of Blender becomes a game of chance! 🎲🎰
    For sure!

Same scene as above but now summer 44 and just a bit of @Lucky_Strike´s hedgerow hell mod greenery added. Also turned off my movie shader which for unknown reason disabled anti aliasing in the game. 🤪

Great, there's loads of ref to these colour ways on the web.

Always a favourite scheme for late war. Woki's mods are quite distinct, I think he's either manipulating photos from books or possibly photos of scale models which I did many years ago for some Panther mods for CMx1. I'm using one of his Pz IV G skins, heavily modified, for my Berlin Panzer IV bunker ...

It's a tough call. Personally I would probably delete them from my mods folder. They don't really have much to do with gameplay and weren't the result of combat but rather the continuation of heinous actions of a thoroughly debased regime in its death throes. I know it's important to keep in mind that what we play and recreate has a basis in a very dark history, but I think we all (mostly) know that anyway.
Why not include them as an option, so that players can decide for themselves.

    Happy accident 😄
So true. War is a very messy business! George's maps are excellent; I just spend hours wandering around his maps enjoying how well made they are. I'm always thinking about ways to add more detritus to maps, simply can't get enough of it! 🚯

    But importantly NOT rubbish.
I really like the unloaded Panzerfaust.
I was looking at some of the piles of debris and thinking it would be quite nice to have a more spread out version, more like a scattering of bricks and bits of smashed wood etc, great for littering roads and other flat areas. Could be based on something like the lettuces flavor object, something that doesn't offer any cover or hinder movement. Would add a bit of interest and 3D to areas around smashed up buildings and complement the existing textures.

Yes, there are dead dobbins in Red Thunder. And I think they might be suitable for the streets of Berlin.
I think that the Swastika flags were discussed earlier in this thread. My own tuppence worth is that I can't imagine any nice clean ones were getting hung up once the Russians were in the city. If we have to have them at least make them like they have been torn to shreads.

Refering to my earlier proposal adding military junk to the scene.
Here´s quick example of some dropped german equipment. One is a junk object with pieces added (appended) to it. Named junk7.mdr. Other is copy of same, but with original object texture made translucent. Named junk8.mdr. Both have all their META preserved so likely won´t give any troubles. Editor placement and manipulation works fine at least.
So other thinkable item heaps i.e might be an abandoned machine gun position, hand grenade heaps, or other compositions. As long as there´s valid objects and textures within CM files, it should be fairly easy going I think.

Edit: flavor objects and texture files DL added

Yes I guess regular fountains need less space that large fountains.
I'm pretty certain that German humour would be far more difficult for me to get my head around given my German skills are mostly limited to words and phrases learnt from a lifetime interest in WW2 in Europe ... there are only so many Panzer jokes ...
This is interesting. I tried watching the metadata as I moved or modified stuff but it didn't seem to change, so I suspect we would have to modify it manually. This is probably why we get these mysterious unknown errors - if Blender doesn't know what these unknown values point to it can't handle changes to them, so throws up an error, or something like that. I do recall that @sbobovyc was working on the metadata at one time, but his focus shifted to other stuff sadly.
I'm gonna have to go and try to blow up some more dragon's teeth. Using HE shells from something like a Sherman Jumbo will make craters since it takes several rounds.
    Exactly this!
    There's a strange paradox - a cute flamethrower! 🐝 (a bee, nearest to a wasp I could find)
Probably worth including in the mod when completed. Looks like Nigel has shown how well this can work.
Yes, I think that's an error thrown up by the scripts themselves. I think the only safe way to move model parts around between Blender files is by using the Append command then drilling down through the hierarchy to find what one needs. Importing already modified models can start to compound minor errors.
I did that to look at trees in modern titles, SF uses very different tree models for some of them. I'd hope that at some point, because all of the games use the same engine, that we might end up with access to some of these extra features, especially in BN which, being the oldest, has the least extras and could really use them.

It mostly works, there are a couple of missing textures since RT has a few extras that BN doesn't have - extra long yellow grass for instance. Just a case of duplicating the long yellow grass and renaming as desired. Recommend the medium res or game res for best playability.

🤣 every time I see it I gotta laugh. In a bit of a hurry and will send it to you later but just to say that video is speeded up x4 !!!!!
It's based on the Protze which really was about the only unarmed vehicle that I could find that doesn't figure in Berlin. But it doesn't go fast on railway tracks and sounds ridiculous. First time I tried it I think it broke an axle!
Good thing is that the Russians will target it, great target for aircraft.

We now have Trains lol. Thanks Lucky strike you are star bud. The Bahnhoffs look really special now. One thing I had to make the status of the train destroyed as if not it roams around trying to get out of the firing line and not follow the tracks.... Awesome I love it. Cheers

Lucky_Strike reacted to Panserjeger in Collection of late war German WWII source documents
    Hi!
I thought I could share my collection of German source documents on this forum, hopefully it can be of use for Scenario designers and others who are just history buffs. Mostly from December 1943 up til the war's end but also several stray documents from earlier in the war.
The files can be found here:
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/17vIUP-Fjc69IoFIc0WepvMnTkngDRJQ9?usp=sharing
It is for the most part comprised of freely available NARA rolls, but I have made pdf-files out of them and named the files to make it easier to find the relevant information. In addition there are weblinks (.url-files) to the collection of captured documents in the russian archives (TSAMO,). Sadly I haven't found a way to open the directly from Google Drive, but you can download them and open them from your computer or go to https://wwii.germandocsinrussia.org/de/nodes/1-bestand-500 and search for the document in the search field using the numbered reference (eg. 12472-385).
I have also uploaded several pdf's of books found at http://prussia.online/, They are to be found in the folders English Books and German Books.
Let me know and I will post a description of the naming convention used for the files if it is confusing.
Most of the files have been downloaded through http://wwiidigitalarchives.org/, files published by the National Archive at https://catalog.archives.gov/ and John Calvin's FTP site. The "Topographical Maps" section contains contemporary maps of the Eastern Front, most of them 1:50000 or 1:25000. If there is need I can post an explanation of how to find the correct map for the area you are working on.
A large number of the files have been compressed by me to save space. If there is a particular map or image that is too low quality it might be possible to get a higher quality version.
I hope some of you will find this interesting,
    regards,
    Pål

Here is a really cool Budapest map resource for anybody thinking of making Budapest siege maps...
It has 1937 plans of the city to use as a starting point in CM map editor.

I am now slowly working on a 600m x 600m map in the Buda side of the city, the Szent Janos Hospital - Varosmajor Park area. It will support a small set of scenarios I am working on <<with mods>>.

Soon my friend. There will be an initial release for these as proper defensive works, then I hope we can have a set of flavor object defensive works that will use some clever trickery, which Harry has been figuring out, so that we can have far more variety (at the expense of out lovely fountains and monuments). Think proper looking Westwall - that's our dream 🦄
As for trenches ... yes, nobody really likes how they look so it's a pet project of mine to try to improve them through a bit of modding, a bit of Blending and some careful landscaping. BUT they's a lot of work, and ...
Yes there's this - bigger trees, burnt trees and landscape, and that Panzer IV bunker - there were more of these used in the Berlin defence than the Pantherturms, so I figured we could use one - but it requires quite a bit of fine-tuning to make it of any use to the player. However I have nearly worked it out and done the model, just a wrinkle or two to iron out and that's ready. Oh and there's that train as well 🥴
As ever, thanks for your interest and support!

Hey - aren't you meant to be on holiday!
    Hehehe 😁
Thanks JM, I was going to use the Kadet but I know it appears in a lot of the Berlin scenarios, either wrecked or, I presume, some are drivable. So I used the Protze instead that seems to have been deleted from the late war German arsenal had to go back to Summer 1944 to find it. If you look closely you can see the drive under the Loco's boiler! I might try to move him but it's not that important. Nigel only wanted a static one, and I thought that having it moving would be very difficult anyway, but after spending a week or so messing with the Panzer IV bunker I thought we could probably, at least, get the Loco into the game and was surprised to get it sort of moving as well.
