Looking great, Lucky! Link doesn't work anymore, probably due to work in progress on the site itself. Could you PM me this mod please?

Convert map CMFB to CMRT?
Aragorn2002 replied to Aragorn2002's topic in CM Red Thunder Maps and Mods
Great! Right now I'm too busy, but I intend to divert the H2H Blue Hills map, after asking permission of the talented map maker. -
Well, it's in some ways comparable to Dunkirk. Full of stress, tension and sometimes drama, so if Dunkirk in IMAX wasn't a pleasant experience for you, I personally would be very careful watching 1917. It's simplicity makes it even more penetrating. The music is somewhat more relaxing than the music in Dunkirk, which i found very stressfull. But better to skip 1917 in your condition, i would say. Not worth the agony. That's why i never take my wife to such movies. She has also seen enough of war.

You're welcome,Vergeltungswaffe. Difficult to say. Not sure how one uninterrupted shot would be possible. It is quite a sober, tense movie, with great acting and scenery. Bit of a mix between Dunkirk and Atonement, but better, i think. Very atmospheric. Especially if WW 1 intrigues you, as it does me.

Not directly related to CM, but I've watched this movie yesterday evening. Very impressive and moving. Recommended.

I would be quite surprised if we see Fire and Rubble before fall 2020. I wouldn't even mind so much, as long as we get some bones from time to time. But hoping for a miracle of course. -

Thank you! I will look into it. But if I'm going to try this I will of course first ask BornGinger for permission to convert his map. -
Convert map CMFB to CMRT?
Aragorn2002 replied to Aragorn2002's topic in CM Red Thunder Maps and Mods
Thanks. Sounds indeed like a huge hassle. I asked it because I found this map at the Fewgoodmen. It looks very interesting, but it was made for CMFB, because the map maker, BornGinger, doesn't own CMRT. It is a map about the Battle of the Blue Hills. That was a battle in north-east Estonia between German forces and the Red Army during the summer and autumn of 1944. Lots of great pictures, maps and other information is included in the download. Really superb work by BornGinger. https://www.thefewgoodmen.com/tsd3/cm-final-blitzkrieg/cm-final-blitzkrieg-scenarios/the-blue-hills/ -
Is it possible to convert a map from CMFB to CMRT?

Where are the Goumiers in djellaba?

Looks very interesting already, mj. Great first try. And yes, first the Goums. With those guys i will be over the moon. But good to know an Asian look is doable. Perhaps with long trousers. But all in good time. Beggars can't be chosers. -

Depends on what you call a 'serious historian'. If by that you mean historians like Beevor, Holland and Citino, who lack much operational and tactical knowledge then yes. If you mean historians like Nash, Reynolds, Hamilton, Glantz, Kershaw and Ian Daglish, then you're dead wrong. Most of these authors have a military background and know what they are talking about. They know how well the Germans fought. Having said that the performance of the British, Americans, Canadians and Russians (and all the others) also deserves a lot of credit. They did win the war after all. It's stupid to belittle anyone who fought. That's an Hollywood invention. It's not a bloody contest who did best overall, it is the biggest massacre of modern history in which all sides gave everything they had. I've recently read a book about the Chosin reservoir 1950. First Marines Division in full retreat. The American veterans who were interviewed in it, didn't sound very different from the Germans. It's war, it's brutal. And afterwards everybody wants to be a hero, who fought against animals. World War 2 is not about the better armies winning, but the bigger economies, hence bigger armies, winning. Same as in World War 1. -
Indeed. We can even use them as Tito's Partisans.

Mj, I just discovered your Nisei mod, which looks pretty damn cool! Perhaps not such a stretch for you to make a Gurkha mod in the future. Those Nepalese soldiers are also Asian after all. That would be very nice too. Btw, I hope your arm is better now and not just for the mod.
