@martin Having the same problem with the 3D enviroment. Has it already been implemented? Or does it try to open a Internet-Explorer-window? -
"magnetisch" when used as an adjectiv. meaning of attracting all kind of goods that are made of metal. I'd suggest "Magnetischer Ernst" for a a proper translation.

Good way to take a screenshot on a Macintosh?
farmerch replied to Spacewrangler's topic in Combat Mission - Tech Support
Does SnapShot! have a Mac-Version? It is quite a handy little program. -
When I was there I didn't stumble over any military remainings or memorial places.

Average Height of German and Russian Troops
farmerch replied to rexford's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
really? the condition of the boot should only be taken into account when moving through forest, I think -
still I think of having the option to choose from all units in the game as a good idea. escpecially for scenario designers. to use such a think in QB might only be intersting to fight hyothetical battles from different years. the implemantation of such a feature wouldn't be so difficult, i guess. however, i don't think that will happen in a patch.

wouldn't it be a nice feature to have the choice to select all units we want, no matter when they were introduced? on the game set up screen could be a feature "ignore year" and then one could select units from every year one want.

look... the gridded tarrain is just the same. you could switch it on for better understanding of the terrain. while playing, you could switch it off again. would be very nice. same goes with the hights. i know it is getting sightly lighter on higher grounds. but i want to see that much better to get an overview. after that, i want to be able to switch it off again.

Markers would be great. They are on my personal wishlist as well. Memorize just is not the right thing. Markers give you a better orientation. Another thing would be a colorscheme. One could have different hights shown in different colours, or ground conditions, ...

Best way to replicate an anti-tank ditch?
farmerch replied to George MC's topic in Combat Mission - Scenario Talk
make a small ditch and then put roadblocks in there. doesn't look bad and makes a point for any tank driver. -
How do you drive a Tiger?
farmerch replied to Crank_GS's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Yup, that is the link. The descriptions are held as easy as possible. Really, if you read the booklet, you are able to drive a Tiger yourself. (of course you need to be able to read and understand german) -
make sure you don't have capslock activated. other suggestion.... i don't know.

How do I set up multiplayer?
farmerch replied to lughlongarm's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
if www.myip.com shows a different ip number than cmbb you are behind a firewall or router. your friend needs the number from www.myip.com eg 216.45.164.24 (4 blocks of number) However, the player who hosts the game must not sit behind a firewall or router. as the host, you need to foreward that port. consult your manual how to do that ("forewared port"). -
it is a valuable tool. don't forget to number the files correctly. 3 digits at the end of the gamename.
-
well, cm doesn't. but alt-tab works, so no need to grief.

How do I set up multiplayer?

you don't have to open a port if your friend hosts. you don't have to worry about the firewall issue, if your friend hosts the game. -
How do I set up multiplayer?
farmerch replied to lughlongarm's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
start, as if you would play against the AI. If you want to play a Quick Battle, just select "Allow Human" to select forces for both sides. Last screen before you go to battle is the one: Alone/Hotseat/PBEM/Tcp-ip Here you select TCP-IP. Then give your friend your ip to connect. -
Have you ever played paintball? If an opponent engages from different angels, that just sucks. You just can't move, start panicking. Lot of fire from one side is not much of a problem, though.

Cover arcs are always a little bit of a gamble. It also happens when a vehicle is driving quickly entering and passing a cover arc so your units doesn't have enought time to shoot and then just seems to think: Gosh, let's forget about it!

copyrights and modding, a question...
farmerch replied to Tarkus's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
You need to get permission (from a legal point of view). No matter whether you give the other people credit or not. Shouldn't be much of a problem, send an example of how you intend to use their work. From a more practical point of view, I would make some consideration for myself how similar the pics are and how likely it is that somebody gets so excited about that they take legal steps. -
NEED HELP WITH DSL ..not working with CMBB
farmerch replied to Sargon's topic in Combat Mission - Tech Support
if you have a router to connect to the internet, you need to forewared a port (i have forgotten the port number, sorry. but it is in this forum somewhere) check for "foreward port". same if you use a software firewall. -

farmerch replied to PCI SgtRock's topic in Combat Mission - Tech Support
Oh, there is a shot video you HAVE to check out: http://www.redvsblue.com/appleswitch.shtml 10 MB size Exchange Mac with Linux and you know how likely it is to get CM2 as a Linux version. -
