  1. Yes I agree, The battles for Sevastopol and the actions in the Crimea in general present many interesting concepts for scenarios. The beauty of this game is that the scenario creator in the game will allow many talented people to present us with a vast veriety of scenarios covering all aspects of the war in the east. I just can't wait.
  2. How do we calculate accurately when you have to take into account all the units that are being ordered in the States for shipment to our comrades in the countries in Europe who cant get it directly through CDV, or who are non German speakers? I have pre-ordered 3 copies by the way. What is the count now? I think that based on the traffic on this forum and others, CMBB is destined to be a highly sucessful product, Congrats to BTS, and thanks to us for having no real lives. Which gives us the time to pursue our true passion, playing CMBO and CMBB
  3. I was there with D Co. 1/3, we went in to help out 1/9, and wound up getting chewed up ourselves.Wasn't pretty.
  4. Andreas, Started playing "Another Village" as Axis against AI, very interesting so far, can almost feel the frustration that Peiper must have felt, under those circumstances. Can also gauge the heroism of the small American units that held up Peiper's advance at every bottleneck. Excellent job. Thank you.
  5. Yes its been ordered, please tell me it was for a PC, otherwise I'll have to order a MAC version
  6. Maybe, that guy FRUIT LOOPS was on to something afterall, Hmmm.......
  7. Dont forget about those alligators that people flush down their toilets.
  8. Molotov cocktails are most effective against tanks if the burning liquid is able to get inside, either through an open hatch or engine grill, and also you would have to be fairly close to throw one. Most WWII tank designs (especially German and Soviet) had horizontal grills mounted on the back deck for engine cooling, and the engine exhaust mounted vertically on the rear. If you have seen any newsreels of the Hungarian uprising, molotov cocktails were used quite effectively against older T-34s, as well as against the newer T-55s. In the CMBB Demo, these battles are taking place in fairly open terrain, you would have to be practically on top of a tank to use Molotovs in those circumstances, how effective would you expect them to be? I would think that in an Urban scenario Molotovs will have a much greater effect, especially from upper floors on narrow streets. Anyone agree?,disagree?
  9. Try "The Last Battle", by Cornelius Ryan. I dont have the book in front of me now, but I seem to remember some discriptive chapters on the FLAK towers which were located in Berlin, specifically near the TierGarten, and Brandenburg. hope that helps a little.
  10. I would love to sign up, I am looking to play more games, either PBEM or TCP/IP. I'll even play as the Russians!
  11. I will help as well, played many a game of SL and ASL. My E-Mail is on the profile.
  12. I think that what will happen is this.... As in CMBO, one of us (someone who is good with languages), will sort thru all the voice files and have them translated. That person (I love him/her already),will post a list of all languages with corresponding translations on one of the CM websites. Then it is just a matter of reading them over, playing the game enough times to be able to recognize the phrases, and bingo, you will have learned some Russian or Rumanian, or German or English. Sometimes its more fun not knowing, how many German soldiers knew Russian, or vice versa, at the outset of Barbarossa? Phrases and words were picked up by necessity, you can do the same in CMBB once the full game comes out. I think that's part of what makes this game experience unique, and adds verbal hints to your intelligence assesments Anyone agree?
  13. I agree, they are obviously in the "old dog-new tricks" category, but they are entertaining.
  14. Welcome aboard. Great bunch of people here, most of your questions get answered, great discussions, lots of humor. Everyone is friendly, and the game is great. Ciao!!
  15. Everyone seems fixated on the new problems created by CMBB as far as anti-tank weapons and tank vs tank etc, in open terrain, and in the early years. I'm looking forward to battles in urban areas, i.e Stalingrad, Kharkov and Budapest as examples. Urban combat in the East, reached levels never before seen in WWII, except maybe compared with the close in, squad against squad fighting on the islands of the Pacific. Will the game allow us to blow holes through walls of adjacent buildings? Will ammo load outs for urban encounters include more grenades,Molotov cocktails, smoke and even bladed weapons for infantry units? What about below ground movement, sewers, cellars? There is a whole new range of possiblities, and a new meaning to combined arms when fighting in cities. I hope the game has taken this into consideration. Have I missed a thread on this anywhere?
  16. Ach du lieber!!!, es tut mir leid. I thought this was Berlitz Web page. Aufwiedersehen meine deutsche kameraden. By the way Tom, I really love your Ardennes terrain package, just took me this long to thank you for all your hard work.
  17. I am so glad that the "chirping birds" live in Russia as well, its very comforting to me to hear that melodious singing. No matter how much mayhem is going on around them, they sing their little songs. I am only going to play early morning, clear weather battles from now on. What a game!!!! I am playing the tutorial now, was tired last night, and didnt want to miss anything. BTS you have outdone yourselves, I thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!!
  18. Yesssir, there is a whole new big world out there. Endless fields of sunflowers, and flat Steppes that never seem to change from horizon to horizon. And Winters so cold, they will freeze the oil in your Kubelwagen. Yes my friend, welcom to the Ost Front. [ August 31, 2002, 09:25 PM: Message edited by: Nidan1 ]
  19. Good book for references on the last battles in the East is "Gotterdammerung 1945" by Russ Schneider. ISBN 0-9655683-1-8 Whole chapter devoted to Spring Awakening, and the last ride of the SS Panzer Divisions.
