  1. Are groups ala RTS in? Shift-1-2-3 etc to create and 1,2,3 etc to select? Would be quite useful.
  2. Hmmm..I still can't understand why a slight haze isnt default on all environmental conditions.

  4. This is most enlightening, thanks! CMSF is going to rock, no doubt about it. Minor things I'll be propably missing : Graphics: -distance haze(?) -less blocky looking houses and less perfectly orientated rows of them(a 0/45 degrees orienation game engine limit). -characteristic building types, like garages, small shops, etc. -a couple more civilian vehicles (buses/trucks) -multiple skins per vehicle(?) - as for effects I cant tell much from beta screens, only that fires look a bit CMBOish still. Gameplay: Well its always close to perfect but I'd still miss AA guns, technicals (I think they were ruled out) mortars for the red side, etc. No big deal anyway, just a few more things to toy around To be honest, I wasnt expecting half of the things already included, like the civilian vehicles, the VIEDs, spies, 100 different flavor objects(!), the impressive vehicle and soldier details and animation, deformable terrain etc...huge work. For me, it is already mission accomplished!
  5. Why is this a setback? There is no turn process anymore which is good. 10-20 boring secs isnt big deal anyway I think. Well written and informative preview btw. Ricochets of buildings? Nice touch. I wonder, is there any eye-candy improvement when a vehicle is hit. Like shaking on shell impact, hatches bouncing, or anything. I've been spoiled a little by the details of TOW to be honest, which must be the most impressive thing to witness in this game. I dont expect CMSF to be like this but I've seen some screens with multiple plums of fire/smoke on tanks, like they have been hit in different locations. Could be my idea though...

  7. Most maps I've seen on the sreenshots are not impressive indeed, some are dead flat and uninteresting but the editor looks incredibly flexible and a talented designer will do wonders.
  8. Draw distance and color saturation problems are due to the lack of "haze" effect that would add depth and smooth the map edges I think. It is on the 99% 3d games, it could be in CMSF too...maybe it is planned for these last weeks? I remember how much better cm maps looked when in foggy weather. Atmospheric and most believable. Parked cars can be placed, as civilian vehicles are included and maps can be pretty larger than what you see.
  9. I'd love to see some ATGM animation, like the top attack javelin or Kornet. I hope flight routes of things like sagger will be somewhat hectic and not a perfect parabolic trajectory.
  10. Syrian Army is the main player, complete with elite and well equipped special forces, modern ATGMS, and some decent russian tanks like the T72M1. While it's no real match for the US, asymmetrical urban warfare, variable victory conditions etc will balance things as it seems.

  16. IDF would be a great addition. So many historical conflicts and very interesting hardware.
  17. If there was an option for multiple vehicle skins, two civilian vehicles models with a variety of 3dparty colors/textures would be enough to make them appear like a lot of different car types.

  19. Fountains..nice! It seems that it will be up to the scenario creator's mood and patience to make a believable environment. My one and only complaint are parked vehicles, though I can understand that these might be a bit complicated to add due to damage model etc.

  21. I'm not sure about the animations part...too much eye candy work. I'd go for abstracted with distant chicken sounds.
  22. Hey, that will make it even more asymmetrical. It is the Spartans that have the edge in the campaign. Haven't you seen the movie?
