  1. That's insane 616 BMP only for the infantry!!!! Now I realize why it dind't fit in only one CD (please BTS upgrade to 2 CDs or a DVD!). Great work man, how many hours did you waste in the task? (Saludos Fernando!)
  2. You should know that the game code has its limits, so something that aparently are bugs cannot be solved because of engine limitations. And i would add to that list quite a few "bugs" in EFOW, as you call them. I hope I'm wrong... [ September 29, 2002, 03:16 PM: Message edited by: KNac ]
  3. how in the hell is the spotter going to realize that the shells are falling far away if he hasn´t LOS to target? fuzzy logic
  4. copy the install file to your HD and then try installing the game
  5. Kije, I think u didn´t understood me well. I didn´t say in any pharse that a FO was safe or something, but is a fact that they usually weren´t in the trenches. In a war noon cannot feel save, even divisional HQs units or evven corps and armies HQs were over-run sometimes. But FOs didn´t fought as regular infantry if not neccessary. Off course they moved with and like infantry, they were attached to other units and such. If the impression of ebing a FO I did was that one, my apologies. As I said FOs should be able to retreat, and we they should have that option is because they could come under fire. Being a FO wasn´t the best, they were as slepless or more than other infantrymen, same fear, same tiring walkd many times, etc. But they weren´t usually in the frontline trenches, just a few meters back, in good positions with good FOV if possible, but not safest positions in anyway (other than not in the front, but if an enemy atack breakthrought they get under danger pretty quickly). Off course all depends of what type of FO is, is not the same a FO serving for the bn mortar platoon than for a divisional battery, probably the bn fo will be much near to the front-line than the other,e tc. I hope I make it clear now.
  6. It seem that from what Steve said I was almost right in all Thanks for the aclaration Steve
  7. Yep, I knew that, but we are talking about "full-time" dedicated FOs What you described was Coy HQs calling supporting fire or oportunity fire over targets, something is not modelled in CM (Coy/Bn HQs abbility to call fire, usually from organic units, many times on-board mortars, or guns, like batteries formed by IGs or ATGs used as indirect fire artillery). Coys didn´t have permanet 24-h support from a divisional artillery battery/battallion. What they could do is demanding direct fire support missions and such, and maybe pass oportunity targets as you said, but th bombardement wouldn´t be executed 100%. However I suppose u knew that. From my POV FOs, actually represent FOs in artillery posts or movile FOs (with radios) with assigned batteries to them for the actual battle or for X hours/days (that´s beyond the scope) probably not in the CM game scale, they wouldn´t be moving around UNLESS very important broken links were, well, broken
  8. Ask that to our beloved CDV If you want u can order the american version with its own pros and cons via one of our american posters. Or you can order de german version from CDV site.
  9. Personally, having seen this several times posted in the forum, gives me the impression that people gets a bad impression (unprofessional) of the game. We all forum posters know about it, bbut imagine the first time player, what impresion will he catch about the game if he see that and he DOESN´T KNOW that it will be upgraded later because of not-enought space issues? I wonder the next game BTS crew will decide to: a)2 or more CDs b)DVD (I would prefer this one) Cheers
  10. Very interesting idea as Airxworld said. I would lik to read it all. Plz do it for the "non-CMBB yet-owners" crew. Thanks
  11. bump. however the Enemy at the gates scene points out very clearly what I said, that guy is not supposed to eb a FO but a guy from a signal section (regimental/divisional or from battallion) lying cable for comunication (maybe from a HQ to other HQ) cheers
  12. In reality, non-radio FOs shouldn´t be able to move around (just retreat if over-run by enemy forces). They would be in Observation Posts, already prepared where the cable has been placed by signal section. In reality FOs were not going around during battles, they usually were behind the frontline, in a favorable position to observe the enemy and call fire from there. Off course, they were not placing cable all around, that was done by the signal guys (usually carried in trucks, ironically). For a "almos-perfect" representation, FOs should be placed in the set-up phase (or fixed in scenarios), they would be very very very diofficult to spot (because camuflage) and couldn´t be moved around. They can only run/withdraw and then lose fire call abbility,(fire plans/on call targets already in action would be completed.
  13. Some screenshots about the operation and other stalingrad battles? An AAR of someone who has already played the operation (or it´s doing it)? Pleaase...?
  14. I'm with Redwolf in this one. Is common sense, that thopse guys would abandon unnecessary equipment and run under "serious problems". However, maybe that wopuld make them lose the spotting capabilies (ammo=0 in-game), what do you think?
  15. For me it's abit of all: from 1-6. The most importans are 1, 3 and 4 (that one is the key I think) 6 is ok too, I want BFC to take the money
  16. I'm interested too in getting the US version, mostly because the unkown release date for non-german version (I want the game!!! ) and because other secondary things which Brightblade and other forum members already said (censored and copy protection). If someone can help me I would be very grated. Thanks.
  17. I think that the more instintive action (and logical action!) would be to bail out after the tank inmobilized. Any tank crew with a minimal IQ and minimal training/experience would know that the next the enemy is going to do is getting something heavier to destroy it, and it will happen. So getting out of the damned tank will be the best option in most of cases, w/o a minimal info about the situation. Standing in the tank is more suicidal because you are gonna die in the 90% of the cases. However using the tank as a pillbox happened (damnit there are stories about KV-1 delaying full divisions in early Barbarossa), but it isn´t, by far, the most common situation. Well, that's my opinion.
  18. I asked for available position long time ago in CMMC, the head GM answered me with available positions (which were very few, almost as staff officers). Unfortunatly I ran out of time to play the game, I had quite a few important tests and examns in 3 months or so. So I decided not to join because the problems I could cause, learning all the rules and gameplay is not easy, and more if you have an important position, like a staff player (artillery and/or supply was available I think) when you poor actuation can affect a whole division or regiment. I will sing in for CMMC2 for sure when possible. With the already experiencied players of CMMC 1 and their experiences, AARs etc. it will be easier to learn and addapt (note how the game will change with an experienced cadre like the players of CMMC1). For a personal note, me and some other m8s are trying to run a campaing much lower in scope than CMMC1 (due to available manpower). I can assure you that cordinating all the effort is very difficult, and our rules are much much simplier than the CMMC rules (mostly because there is only 1 GM and he runs all the process without a written rulebook). We are trying to elvolve and I think someday we will get within the same complexity as CMMC. Now we are running some type of CPX and I have suggested to move to CMBB for the official campaing (we will begin it in October/November). Just good luck with the task if done and keep us informed.
  19. *SPOILERS (I don´t think so, but)* --------------------------------- WWB thanks for the typos. I think I had some bad luck with my PAKs (also got one knocked out even before shoting a single bullet). I have noted the MGs firepower. However I think I make a mistake, I holded them too much probably, so the russian troops get very near. Anyway I managed to quick their asses with the little artillery I had (pinning them and then launching a barrage over them is kinda nice). I will try again the scenario...
  20. It has some bugs sometimes, but the most accurate system in in WWIIOL. Each ammo type is modelled, each tank is modelled to individual parts (including things like motor etc). The only thing it lacks is armor fatigue, IMO. The collision models is very good, as well as all the physics. Haven´t played Panzer Elite, but it probably will be very good too. Don´t compare tactical wargames with (good) tanks sims, it´s not a good thing. The only game comparable is CM (because it´s too a 3d enviorenment), but I don´think that CM tracks each part of a tank.
  21. AN other VERY IMPORTANT thing IMHO is the avility to see enemy tank unit rank! If you can see who is the platoon leader, you can kill him and make the rest of the platoon useless. I noticed this in the Smolensk(41) scenario (never remember the name!), I targeted for the platoon leaders with my PAKs, that way I could make even more useless those green tankers.
  22. Sorry i got confused. In scenario briefing says medium size battle for both. And in the "select battle" screen it says small for citadel and medium for yelnia stale.
