  1. When I think on the subject it really is interesting what we know now vs back during the war. The common ground pounder or tank commander didn't know how badly the german tanks were versus the soviet heavies. I don't know how much info was shared back then but I doubt anything got down to the fighting troops, certainly not in the way we know it now. Thinking of it like that, it's only word of mouth and personal experience that defines a troopers reaction to any target. They were just men reacting to something that wanted to kill them, and fear is the biggest reactionary of them all. I'm sure command tried to belay their fears with information and rationaliztion but even in this "modern" world, sensationalization is just as bad now and nothing I hear or read about is trying to kill me. So I can understand why many fighting men thought the tiger was the worst. It's what they knew and they only heard the bad about it, not the good. Just my 2 cents
  2. I've been wondering about this for some time since I started playing CMBN and CMBS. The question is quite simple really, would small arms from todays armies have an easier time penetrating something that took a HMG or more to penetrate?
  3. I didn't quite do it right.. but what a nice picture that is!
  4. Just finished watching all 12 episodes. Not a bad anime. The surprising thing is that my wife was big time into it. When the Maus shows itself she clutched my arm and said "what are they going to do, that things too big. Where is it's weak spot". Perhaps phase one of operation "get the wife into my games" has just won a small victory.
  5. I could sure use them right now. I'm really enjoying Montebourg, only on mission 3. I'm not very good tho lol.
  6. I'm not even sure how I heard of it. At the time that I found it and checked out the demo I was huge into the MMO Dark Age of Camelot. CMBO was unlike anything I had ever heard of and has kept my interest ever since. I tried to sell my friends on CMBO but they were much too twitchy and couldn't handle how in depth CMBO was at that time compared to anything else.
  7. Thanks slim, I'll check them out when I have a free second. I took some of the advice on here and played a number of QB's, these proved successful with giving me the experience when it came to dealing with unexpected surprises. One QB had me going over the crest of a hill without any cover right from the start point, and due to an error on my part the enemy had 3 flakverlings and I only had infantry. Minor victory for me, didn't think I'd pull it off since the first 10 minutes were not in my favor. I've also been watching some videos by armchairgeneral(.com?). These have been a good help in trying to better understand the bigger picture and thinking of where I should place guys to be most effective. I still may not be very good but I'm getting better. I did start the campaign over again, just finished the second mission with a total victory both the first and second. Nice thing is that the units on the second mission were in different spots so it plays nothing like the first time and gave me a whole new challenge. Having fun, just never have enough time to play.. crazy ol' life gets in the way.
  8. edited as issue has been solved.. YAY!
  9. does it happen with either alt keys? I've found that the windows key + T does something but not anything for alt+t
  10. I agree with all of this. I'd just add that graphically CoH is really good looking and that might sway some people.
  11. You won't technically need to reinstall it again. In the directory that z-bee's mod manager gets installed (C:\Program Files (x86)\zBee14 on my machine) will be a file called "z-Bee 1.4 CMSF Mod Manager.accdr". The mod manager is just a microsoft access database, so if you make a copy of this file you can set the second copy up for CMBN, each file is a completely separate database(making each file a completely separate mod manager). This can be done as many times as you want, one for each CM game. I just renamed the copies to what game I was going to use that file for then setup an icon for it. Edit- forgot to add that the copy will have the settings saved from the original file as well as the mods installed. The directories you will need to change first, then for the mods you can deactivate them each, then remove them from the mod list. Without changing the directories first you'll deactivate the mods in CMSF, if you change the directories first then deactivate a mod it'll say that the mod wasn't found in the z folder(this is what we want to see) advanced computer user - you can open z-Bee14CMSFModManager.msi (the install file for the mod manager) using 7-zip and it'll have the original database file, which can then be extracted where you want
  12. Good idea. Doing some practice QB's in bocage assaulting a town would be a good way to get everything figured out.
