  1. I agree 100% with what Grysha said. The CAS in the western front was archived by numercal reasons but not because the cooperation was better than in the eastern front. Also the usage and direct impact (on the battlefield) of air support in the westewrn front is a myst (like a bunch of things). I do not mean that they hadn´t any effect, but that it was much lower than what the average Joe thinks Air superiroty had much effect on supplies (and so, in the war of attrition) and in open travel or assembly and massification of forces. Even that the germans were able to mass up a lot of forces for the battle of the Bulge (yep I know weather and terrain helped) In fact the direct impact of CAS in eastern front in the tactical battlefield was much heavier than in the western front.
  2. As I´m spanish I have the option of go to Perejil and buy the game from there as it has been occuped by Morocco I will get the american version! (well it has been recapped )
  3. Sometimes I ask myself how is trolls mind (if they have any)
  4. (read in the edited post before yours to know why I was "yelling") However can I buy the game directly from BFC or not? Anyway I think that there is a online company which imports games from USA (and other countries) I´ve bought some other games from there and they have a good service, so if not possible I will check if they have it in the list. I know all this can sound strange to a lot of people but for me and other (on here) those "stupid" thing can be very painful, trust me.
  5. Well, if you order the german version in other european country it cost also 25 euros? If no, it´s about logistics and distribution (however it´s very hard to believe that it can go up 20 euros, ordering a game from USA will cost the same ammount because of shipping! And it´s overseas!). If not, there is no reason it should be that way, it seems to me that finally I will buy direct from BF.C even if it cost several days more to arrive edited- Tarqulene --> you shouldn´t laught because it´s more serious than what you think. read below... prinz Eugen --> well, I was just giving my opinion ( I think that I CAN do it) I wasn´t rude at all and I din´t whine about BF or CDV at all, just expressing my opinion about this. It can be very stupid for you but it can be very important for me, because 25 years ago there was a very hard censhorship here (I´m from Spain) and I´ve learned how valuable it´s freedom because of that. If you want you can buy the game I´m not pushing you to not-buy the game in any manner, so you are free to buy it if you want, but if I want I will not do it. I posted all that because I want the people to know which my reasons are, if I don´t post people will not know it, simple. However my apologies if with my "tone" or "exaltation" (mispelling?) I damaged someone feelings. However it would be cool to know why it´s 20 euros cheaper for Germany. [ July 23, 2002, 09:33 AM: Message edited by: KNac ]
  6. I never will understand this kind of censorship (total or not) because it not helps, the only thing they do is proliferat it and it will not help no one. But I will not enter in political discussion. The question goes farther, it´s about freedom. If I´m forced by CDV to buy a manipulated product because an asshole not-international law I´m not gonna buy it, simple. I hope european players from other countries which don´t have such law will be able to buy the product directly from BF.C because if not I´m sorry but I will miss the game, I´m not sentencing no one here, I´m sorry because I will miss this excelent game made by the excelent guys at BTS/BFC. But I will not buy it for sure, I want to see "Waffen SS" not "Waffengrenadier" or somthing like that, because I live in a democratic country which don´t has any law that ban this, and so, I´m free to have the original game. I think that finally the guys at CDV (which it´s not their fault that that law exist) decide to supply the rest of european countries with the original version.
  7. It seems correct Zukkov. yes axis will be able to use "fire plans", as russians will be able to use FOs in a normal manner
  8. Olle what are u talking about?
  9. cool! very bad i´m out of money now (i wasted it all in other things, including games and a bunch of WWII books and material) probably i will wait until september and i will get it all (within CMBB
  10. I suppose that you couldn´t reinforce those units because they were out of range of any french city or not attached to any HQ, and because of that they were out of supply (without the ability to reinforce so). [ July 21, 2002, 04:31 PM: Message edited by: KNac ]
  11. sorry for the delay, no i don´t get the error now
  12. I said you in the SC forum However, if you want a fast-check of the game features and screenshots check the products page ---> CMBO. Also I would say that if you finally like the demo, you should by CMBO. CMBB will be better, but the time frame, theather of operations, etc. it´s totally different, and if you want to check US and Commonwealth forces you must get it.
  13. If you get an error when you click the link in the main page, just go to the downloads section
  14. Got it, damn I didn´t saw which was my number! However, do you realize the number of sells that BFC (and BTS) has done in 3 years!
  15. Good point SuperTed However WTF is the pre-order option going to appeir??? 8:10 PM here!
  16. YES I´M SERIOUS! The AI can be a good chanllenge in well designed scenarios, specially in defense. When the scenarios are very large or with very big forces the AI is not very good in the atack, strat AI is very hard to code (in any game). But as I said all depend on the scenario. However you can play against humans by PBEM or TCP/IP (in realtime). CM has been a revolution in the wargaming market (serisly) and just wait for CMBB (the incoming title that will come in Septemeber) or for future releases (CMII, the engine rewrite). You can get CMBO and make it much better (talking about graphics) with a bunch of graphic mods (visit CM HQ) Seriusly it a "must have" in a wargamer "library" [ July 19, 2002, 10:03 AM: Message edited by: KNac ]
  17. Yes and yes! (Best tactical wargame about WWII out there
  18. say me a single game about grand strategy that had a good AI. thisone is the one which has the best AI (probably). some points are ok, but as Hubert said a lot has been already fixed. also when someone critiquize something must do it in a educated manner and in constructive manner. however if it´s a time waster don´t buy it. juts my thoughts
  19. 2 PM in euro zone. Time to preorder! WTF is the option?
  20. Well, about RR guns and/or very heavy artillery guns. I wonder which new types will be modelled for germans, and which for soviets. For example, the 170mm gun will be modelled? and the 30.5 or 35 cm guns/mortars? I don´t know about eastern front but I know about western front, 170mm guns were not modelled for CMBO when were much superior (in numbers) to the already modelled 24 cm guns. For example in Normandy there were several 170mm batteries (some cased in concrete bunkers) attached to coastal artillery bn. For example 4/HKB.1262 coastal artillery bn or 10/1261 coastal artillery bn. Both under heer command (not kriegsmarine) Also, what about 122mm guns? Used in several artillery brigades, or in some artillery batteries in several divisions? I suppose 240mm had an higher "cool" factor. This is not a flame I love the game and wuill buy CMBB for sure but a personal opinion, i prefer that more common guns that weren´t modelled to be included (170, 122, or other several guns) that were much common than the most of RR guns, which were uncommon, and as others said, are far away from the CM scope (tactical battlefield). But if they are included they will be very good for player runed campaings (like the CMMC). S!
  21. As spanish i would like to see it, but i do not care if they are not. As someone said, is only 1 division between 300 more, and was formed like a regular inf div, if they were better or no is not a point to make extra textures for them. and remember, there is always a modder
  22. Hi Long Wings, I wonder if you know more good books about WWII in spanish (of any type from pure OOBs to narrative types), I know a few but I wonder if I´m missing some good books. It´s very hard to find works about WWII in spanish (a part of Blue Division) and as spanish it´s a bit hard to read very large books in english, the language with more books about the subject along with german (which I should learn too). However, where are you from? You know quite a few languages (english, french and spanish, german too?) S!
  23. Scipio you are right, both sides made huge numbers of prisoners. But not in the tactical battlefield, but in an operational/strategical size, were full divisions surrendered because they were totally cut off from their lines and hadn´t got any supplies to continue fighting. This happened specially in the soviet side early in the war. And the famous cut off of the 6th Army in Stalingrad for the germans. But in the tactical battlefield surrenders were not that usual, not like in the western front, because as someone pointed out, both sides killed their prisoners usually in the act, specially if they were from some specific arms of their armies. 24. not true. the luftwaffe was a major part of the initial effort in the russian war. not only destroying the enemy air units in ground, and as CAS or atacking military units, but destroying a great part of the production capability of soviets, in a few weeks the luftwaffe had destroyed a lot of factories and damaged the supply and logitic system of the soviet a lot.
