  1. Perhaps I was too hard on Macksey - I have one book in my library - "Tank vs. Tank" and I recall that it was too broad and the case studies were particularly dreadful. May have been the editing. My other comment was meant to be - a bit tongue in cheek - as I remember reading a steady diet of Ballantine "war books" as a young teen and I found out later that these were pretty bad from a factual standpoint and - sorry folks - most of those authors were Brits. Everybody gotta get paid I guess.
  2. Yes, agreed, Ambrose was a hack. I fail to see what bearing this has on Macksey's skill as a military writer - or lack there of. Hey, it's only my opinion so you are welcome to it - or not - as you see fit.
  3. I've read some of his stuff and, IMO Macksey's a Hacksey,...in the sense that his "work" is about a mile wide and an inch deep. He is one of these prolific "war book" writers that the Brit seem able to churn out in endless succession - along with the books.
  4. I recommend JonesSoft Generic Mod Enabler. It’s a neat little program that installs in a games root directory and automatically backs up the files being modified. By simply emulating a games file structure you can manage multiple mods – or go back to stock – in seconds. http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/software/products-jsgme.html MikeyD - your method will work for most games but some are bit picky and will overlook unexpected directories. JoneSoft mimics the native directory structure to avoid this issue. And, allows you to go back to stock easily to accomodate dev patches. Oh, and one more thing. It allows you to determine mod load order so you can load a mod that does A/B/C and then another mod that does "C" better on top of that - allowing you to retain the changes to "A" & "B".
  5. D/L she CMSF demo and see how that works. CMBN may be a tad more demanding but pretty close.
  6. If I do a bit of reading between the lines here I believe this is Normal Dudes way of telling us that many of the actual CMBN sound files have yet to be added.
  7. Yep and they are listed in the TO&E for Sherman models and the M5 Stuart.
  8. Glad you cleared that up Moon as I did not want to mislead this chap. I will offer some free advise to those who do not opt to get a disc; BURN the set-up files and store them. That way, even if you corrupt an install - NO hassles.
  9. Yes you did and AFAIK they were available in limited numbers and so appear in-game limited numbers.
  10. No doubt you will. Just don't refer to the 2nd module as the "Commonwealth Module". ([ducks] INCOMMMIIIIIING!!! )
  11. Nope - see this response to a question on this issue: http://www.battlefront.com/community/showpost.php?p=1244530&postcount=2
  12. Indeed, the title of the OP is; "Combat Mission unrealistic" He didn't bother to even use an ? or write "IMO" for gods sake. So...Combat Mission unrealistic is an objective given. OOOOOKKKKK.
  13. That was me just spreading the word. I had no idea the can 'o worms that would open up. And the passion...wow.
  14. It is included in the limited edition only - at least that is my understanding. So, better pre-order.
  15. CoH? Just take a look at this vid: I could not stop laughing.
  16. Oh, I think the big ones were thrown around plenty. Do you REALLY think the first thing McAuliffe said was actually "Nuts"? Did you ever see a picture of the guy? I believe he probably first blurted out, "Tell 'em to F$#K Off!".
  17. Yes, formal - or even complete sentences are lame. I would further modify to; "Bastards are flanking!'
  18. Yes, the M8 Howitzer Motor Carriage based on the Stuart chassis with a "no barrel" 75mm howitzer as the main armament. A different vehicle than the M8 Armored Car - and BOTH will be in CMBN.
