  1. I am guessing that this probably happened in the Eastern Polish region and in a game where you selected to not honor the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact, is this the case? If so then this would make sense as this area is scripted to still have an effect due to the Soviet Winter.
  2. SC1 and SC2 both use Eiffel... it is a very good programming language and taught at many universities, i.e. where I learned it, due to the clean design and well thought out choices for the language. It is similar to Java in many respects, both are Object Oriented based languages although Eiffel is more of a pure OOB language than Java and why it is a preferred language for many academics when it comes to teaching Computer Science design and programming principles. The benefit of Java is that it has a lot of users and a lot of available media libraries where Eiffel does not (I had to write my own classes)... also Java is free where Eiffel is arguably a much more expensive option. Good luck!
  3. henker, This is an older issue with SC2 Blitzkrieg where if you make changes to the campaign it does not copy over the original campaign's subdirectories. In order to resolve this problem, navigate to your campaigns folder and find the folder called '_1939-46 WW2 Global Conflict'. Open this folder and copy all the subcontents, i.e. 'Bitmaps' folder, 'Interface' folder, campaign.ini file etc. over to the subdirectory of your recently customized version of this Global campaign. Note, WaW and PDE do not have this issue and there is even now a PDE conversion of the Global Conflict campaign now available over at CMMODS. Hope this helps, Hubert
  4. Good news it is still in development and as always we are hoping to get this completed sooner rather than later. Hubert
  5. Kuniworth, Thanks for the post and all I have to say is....
  6. Gentlemen, a very interesting discussion and I think, well from what I have understood here so far, is that the consensus is that SC2 is a very good game and for those that prefer hexes, it could be even better. Good news is that I am always listening so you never know what you might see one of these days down the road
  7. Some good points there Colin and I can definitely see where you are coming from now. What I can say for now is that we are continually working to improve the scripts, including the script logic, and while we have added some information, such as warnings/popups for the German player to garrison the Soviet border or Yugoslavia., there is always room for improvement. Thanks, Hubert
  8. Hi Larry, There is a short blurb but it can be found on page 21 under Research and Development.
  9. Colin, I believe the Allied reinforcement events for the Middle East that you are referring to will happen regardless of France as they are mostly based on the historical arrival of these units to this Theater. In fairness though there are other events that are tied in more closely to player action but I would actually disagree that these are prone to gamesmanship since in most cases these are actually scripted in to take into account gamesmanship and maintain the necessary balance that otherwise would not exist. Hope this helps, Hubert
  10. Les, I am always open to constructive criticisms and I would be more than happy to hear some more information and even direct comparisons vis a vis the game mechanics, game play, AI, multiplayer play, Editor etc., versus the other games you've listed and why you feel they are the better game. If there is an obvious shortcoming in any of these areas I am always open minded to improve the SC series as much as possible.
  11. Mark, There are only 2 sides in the game, i.e. Axis or Allied and you play all the countries that make up those sides. For the AI, it only controls a side in single player mode. Hotseat, TCP/IP or PBEM cannot be played with an AI opponent. Hope this helps, Hubert
  12. Thanks for the kind words SeaMonkey, it is comments like this that definitely make the whole process worth it
  13. Ah ok... it might be simply due to the extra units and more active areas of the map... this will always slow things down whereas in Storm of Steel things start very quickly as it is earlier in the war.
  14. Kuniworth, I think part of the problem wrt maintaining a hardcore Multiplayer community is as the game evolves with more rules and complexity it can take away from the simplicity of head to head competition. SC1 was groundbreaking in that it attracted a very large Multiplayer fanbase due to the simplicity and elegance of its design, in fact it was ranked as one of the 5 best play by email games by PC Gamer of all time, but while the single player experience has been enhanced with SC2 and its expansions (new rules, multimedia, depth, AI++), it can very often take away from the quick and exciting head to head games as they take longer to play. It is a careful balance for sure and as Martin has also mentioned it is also a series that has been around now for 6 years so it is no surprise if not everyone that was around in the beginning is not around today. That being said, we are always listening and looking to improve the game, game play and experience for each new iteration of the SC series as we move forward
  15. I'll reiterate what Martin just posted as there is actually quite a bit going on behind the scenes over here at the Fury Software development headquarters The one game that we are planning to announce in the next few weeks is built using the latest SC2 engine as a base but incorporates quite a few new features and in general I think the subject, depth, quality and feature list of this new title is going to be a pleasant surprise to the SC community. Long story short is that we pulled out all the stops on this one so stay tuned!
  16. Cougar, Blashy is correct that you can play the game as either side with the AI playing the other side but not in a PBEM game. PBEM games can only be played Human vs Human.
  17. Gdtrfb, which campaign are you playing and at what point in the campaign, i.e. what year etc.
  18. The latest patch, v1.05 for WaW should resolve this issue entirely.
  19. StellarRat, While the core AI routines are mostly the same, it is true that with each new release the AI has been improved and expanded with newer scripting options. For example the Weapons and Warfare AI was a big jump over the original SC2 Bltizkrieg release and if the European Theater is your main focus of interest I would say that you cannot go wrong here at all. Patton Drives East explores a few of the newer "what if" campaigns of both during and after WWII in the European Theater but also incorporates the new DECISION event that allows for much more variety in AI game play. This is not only highlighted in the default campaign but also in highly rated custom mods such as those available from PZGNDR's etc. Lots of options but if you do decide to purchase all 3 products I doubt you will be disappointed as attested to here in this thread. Hope this helps, Hubert
  20. Hi Pardonpete, Have you tried the new 'Video Acceleration' option in the SETTINGS dialog that came with WaW v1.04. In some cases it may not work as intended, one of the complications of multiple hardware setups under Windows, and you may actually be better off disabling it. Can you try with that option enabled as well as disabled to see if you notice any difference? Hubert
  21. pad152, For most of the popular mods, you will find a version of SC2 that it is compatible with. I believe that most SC2 mods are labeled on CMMODS for each particular version for quick identification. Hope that helps, Hubert
  22. If all goes well the fix should be out early next week.
  23. K Man is correct, if you are behind a river then any attack across a river is reduced by 50%.
