I agree that we need a better guide on how C2 works. I totally disagree with it being removed. The "imaginary links of communication" are one of the best features of the game as it removes "borg spotting" and adds friendly fire to the game. However I think it needs to be tweaked or debugged. As it is now units in a vehicle might have better intel then the vehicle (and that is with a team member in the commanders seat).

Moving Waypoints and Placing Units....???
Swift replied to Charlie901's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
No. Lets just be very rude and unhelpful. That will make everyones day just a little bit better. But as it took me more then a minute to figure out how to move the units on setup you can just ignore me as I am stupid. -
I run on a Samsung SyncMaster 206BW (excellent screen btw) and it looks great. I had to set the "display size.txt" to 1680 1050 manually (as it would not work with desktop) but after that I have had no problems.

Civilian Density...where are my civilians?
Swift replied to GDog's topic in CMSF Scenario and Mod Design Forum
Would be very realistic though. But the number of ? marks would be massive. -
I am ok with a scenario that is not designed with the purpose of giving the player a fair chance to win (although I am not saying that this is the case here). At least in the campaign it feels more "real" when you have to start a scenario without the knowledge that you have a good chance of making it. Sometimes the Syrians have to have a good day to

I have seen some comments on the Javelin that calims that it has a thermobaric warhead (or that there are versions of it that does). In such case the Javelin's smaller size warhead could very well stack up to a larger "standard" explosive warhead like a artillery grenade. As to the size of the crater that it leaves I am not sure as it detonates above ground and not below (like a shell). The Russians have a thermabaric RPG called RPO-A Shmel that claims to have the same effect as a 152mm artillery round and it has a 2kg wharhead (compared to the Javelins 8kg)

I liked this scenario. But then again I did not replay it to win. I trashed the BMPs and then ran straight into the tanks. Managed to some of them before running out of missiles (they took out the AT strykers fast). In the end I managed to kill two tanks with the use of a mk 19 stryker (the reactive armour makes for a nice show when hit by 4-5 grenades) and a single AT4 shot. As a reward my units got bombed by the Apatches (I called them in on my position but why can't the air support attack intelligently? I mean they do know the difference of a stryker and a tank don't they?)

I think that the dust clouds only show if you can spot them but I am not sure.

I know you have been busy but if you have time to make a list of known bugs it would help. As I don't have detailed knowledge of the weapons in the game it's hard to know when 2-3 missiles miss a target if it is due to a bug or if they just are inaccurate. (That or detailed information on how all weapons in the game works )

Well, they stated that they aim for two weeks after 1.02. You can't get a more precise date as they obviously have not made it yet and thus don't know what kind of problems they run into. The current patch rate is excellent btw considering that they have a very small staff.

I would also have the option to stop infantry from using javelins on buildings when you give them an attack order. Sometimes it might be needed but mostly they spend a round they might need for a tank or AFV later.

Thanks for your reply. Hopefully it will fit in one of the upcoming patches. Go easy on Charles, I am sure he's got a huge todo list -
How to map arrow keys to camera movement
Swift replied to Swift's topic in Combat Mission: Shock Force Tech Support
Bump! I guess it is not. Could it be added in a patch? Being left handed means that the WASD keys are on the wrong side of the keyboard. -
Just tested a scout unit that indeed took the "commanders place" in the turret. Is this really how it's done in RL?

The passengers take the commanders spot? If so they should atleast communicate with the gunner and driver...

Yes although not at first and I am sure it will get even better. -
Street Sweepers - it's just too much

WEGO would have helped I guess but it is not so effective at managing units currently. -
Ah, I did not know that. However the scouts has much better spotting then the Bradly, not just to one unit (which could be explained by the scopes) but to 6-8 units where the Bradly did not see anyone at all (that is only had ? marks).

I just noticed that it moved at all. You should be far to interested in pressing the buttons to start the game then to look at graphics Oh, and thanks for a game that not only (at least on my computer) starts and loads your saved game fast without the otherwise common startup delays but also alt-tabs fast and quits in an instant (boss-key)!

I currently play the campaign on Veteran level and I am curious how spotting works. In the "High Points, Low Points" scenario I have a platoon of Bradley's carrying scout units. I noticed that the unit that spotted the most enemy contacts where the buttoned scout unit. How come? Would not the Bradley have better vision then a soldier inside it?
