  1. I was thinking the same thing. If CM SF is such a huge initial success, with more copies sold than CMx1 combined, why is this forum getting more and more lifeless by the minute? You would think there were all sorts of new fans that wanted to coem and talk about how great the game was, tactics, and equipment. But no, this is not happening. I would not hold high hopes for any of the Modules' sale if I were BTS. I pray WW2 can "salvage" CM for me.
  2. Its not really AI then, now is it? I mean, CM SF does not have strat AI, the units just go down pre designed lanes of movement that the scenario designer made. The strat AI in CMx1 was predictable if you knew how to read the terrain. Most maps had some bottle necks and you could bet the AI would come down those lanes. So defending vs AI in CMx1 was a breeze. Problem is, its still is in CMSF. Except now, you dont defend vs AI, but vs scenario designer.
  3. Try the demo. For me, CMSF was amajor letdown with poor TacAI. Only way you can play any missions is by attacking (defending is a walk in the park) and most of them are also easy. IMHO.
  4. CMx1 was "limitless" fun for me, because of the QB setup and TCP/IP multiplayer. As CMSF has none of these, it is extremly restricted in terms of fun and longlivity.
  5. CMSF as released: 5/10 CMSF 1.4: 6/10. I dont think any patching will make this game good in my eyes. I just hope things will be sorted for the WW2 game.
  6. The argument seems to be you didn't actually like CMx1, you were just tricked into liking it. The things you didn't like just weren't noticeable. Now there are less of those things that you shouldn't like (abstractions) but they are more evident because of the increases in realism. </font>
  7. Indeed Steve, its sarcastic, because this title is supposed to be the most realistic yet, but somehow we are supposed to think that the Syrians are incapable of shoting a RPG without exposing every single man in the sqd. This is ofcos absurd and as such, any suspense of disbelief goes out the window. Thing with cmx1 was that it might have been very unrealistic, but since it was abstracted to such a high degree, we imagined what were happening, instead of watching our 1:1 soldier behaving like idiots.
  8. I didnt know that moving the entire Syrian sqd in view of the vehicle to get the RPG guy to fire of a shot was realistic. Guess you learn something new every day.
  9. What?! War by proxy?! Those bastards! Good thing USA never did such a shameful thing.... Welcome to realpolitik.
  10. To get ripped off also means that you get something of *lesser value* or something *diiferent*, than what you *thought* you would get. Clearly, paying full price for a bug ridden game can fall into that category. Also, logically expecting TCP IP WEGO and a proper QB system and not getting it, can lead you to feel ripped off. Perhaps you should stick to the law.
  11. I hope it will have TCP IP and real Quick Battles. The rest Im sure will be taken care of. *crosses fingers*
  12. If you dont care about full printed manual, get the cheaper Paradox release.
  13. Hehe, thats a bit of a stretch, Ive been rather passive on the forums for several weeks now. Its just when I pop by and I see someone ask for an opinion or something similar that, I tend to respond. In this thread, I just couldnt see how our two games differed so much. Or is only positive responses allowed? Anyways, back on the topic.
  14. What game are you playing? It cant be CMSF were my realistic soldier calmly walk across the streets in face of leathal firepower. Or how they get stuck on corners with half the sqd in plain view. Or how you need to expose the whole sqd to get a RPG pot shot on a vehicle instead of just the shooter exposing himself.
  15. Seeing I dont play it now, I dont see why I will pick it up later. None of the patches, or modules hold much promise for me. I will prob wait for their WW2 game, and hopefully they have got some of the old features back to make it worthwhile. (TCP WEGO - real quick battles)
  16. CM:SF isn't supposed to though - CMx2 overall is. I may not like what direction BFC is going in, but I think they've been pretty clear about describing it over time. -dale </font>
  17. I suspected this would happen. Simply, CMSF does not offer the variation and longlivety that we become used to. In addition to the improvments in the game design, they also removed some very core game issues, that for me, totally ruined this game. Anyways, I suspect the ones saying they are just waiting for 1.04, will be here much later and saying the same about 1.05, 06, 07...
  18. Capt, seems to me your discussing your own made up issues, and not what Billy is saying. I suggest you give it a rest already.
  19. Well... wait for patch 1.xx and hope it gets solved. Thats what many of us do...
  20. Cant seem to remember this being being advertised as an requirement of playing QBs. QBs arent very Quick anymore it seems. Too bad.
  21. Problem is not so much what they added from CMx1, many things they added are great. The problem is what they *left out* from CMx1.
  22. I already paid for that in CMSF (pre-order). I'm not going to pay more to get what was promised for my initial purchase. </font>
