  1. Excuse my ignorance on these matters, but how come turning on their own lenght can't be done by all tanks ? I'm not doubting this fact, but I'd like to understand where lay the difference, mechanically. We need a tank driving grog over here.

  7. Some wild guesses: - A WWII tank sim built on T-72 engine. - BFC to publish that russian tactical game that's taking forever to code. Now THAT would be freakin' big news. Note: I said these would be wild guesses.
  8. Tom, make that double. Beside, the idea of playing battle hardened Syrians insurgents in urban areas, with roarings RPKs and AKs, thundering RPGs and some mortar fire here and there, even if it's to be handed my a** on a plate by Abrams & co, is appealing on its own right. Yeah, you heard me, battle hardened syrian troops. I'm pretty sure fifty years of tensions and conflict did not only taught Israelis how to go about small unit tactics. Cheers.
  9. Gotta say, looking at all those shots doesn't help to ease my growing crave for the game. Maybe an irrelevent detail, but did you notice all the wires on this pic ? There are electrical lines litterally everywhere. Iraq street I wonder if this affects military operations at all, but it sure looks like they can get all over the place mighty easily.   10. Eotech it is. So the commandoization is really the junction of army will to better equip the men for the task at hand and the men going custom on certain critical piece of equipment ? I think Canadian militaries are going this way too, maybe someone who's in the service can confirm/infirm. I would doubt regiments here have some discretionnary budget for these kinds of toys though... my guess is that soldiers can opt for whatever they think might enhance their comfort/capabilities (camelback, googles, knife, 3-point sling, tec.) but have to get the bucks out to get them.   11. Looking at these shots I see what seems to be another example of previously refered to "commandoization". First shot shows a soldier with an M4 equipped with what seems to be a Bushnell holosight. Second soldier rather went for an Aimpoint red dot scope. (Both aren't exactly cheap, but I guess I'd be willing to chip the extra coin too if my a** was on the line). Does it means that soldiers are simply allowed to grab whatever fits their aiming taste best ? Got me thinking... maybe BFC will model the personnal income of the player's troops ? "Yay, pvt. Pyle got fresh money from stock option I bought after battle #2. Here comes the ghillie suit, sweeeet ! "
  12. That looks ab-so-lutely fantastik ! Guys, this project looks soooo neat. Nice and clear website, many choices, options and gizmos here and there for our downloading pleasure. I salute your dedication and will download every bite there is to be downloaded for sure. ( Now to find the time to play all these battles... ) Cheers, and thanks what was no doubt a whole lot of tedious work.
  13. Holy smoke you certainly ain't wasting your time there Sir ! After modding that interface I really needed a pause and yet you keep forking them out like hot buns ! Impressive !. I like the overall look and feel of your work, especially the orders icons. Some interesting design there. Seems I'm no longer alone in getting a kick out of that sort of modding. Congratulation on your work. Keep it up !
  14. Yeah I thought almost the exact same thing when I first saw that pattern. But actively searching for it in various environments made me a believer. Both in dense laurentian green or arid tan it was still sustaining the comparision very well with environment specific BDUs. I don't know the specific of the devlopment program of that cam, but obviously some people really sat down on the task and thought about it. Also haven't seen ACU yet on the field. Seems the intent is the same as multicam (some sort of universal pattern) but the optical principle seems to be different. I still prefer my DPM though. Cheers.
  15. Like, say, the multicam ? I've seen lots of multicam lately ( on airsoft fields, mind you ) and gotta say it is surprisingly efficient both in a woodland and desertic environment. Truly a wonder BDU IMO. I wonder if some SF units will (or can) opt for this pattern instead, or if it is still considered by any outfit ? Sounds like an interesting mod project at the very least.   16. Seeing the guy holding an M14 back on the groin thread got me wondering if these rifles will be included. I've seen somewhere these are used in a counter sniper role, providing both accuracy and firepower to eliminate them in MOUT ops. Is this a wide practice among infantry units ? More of a special force twist ?
  17. Keep it coming guys. Any more ideas for a straight, concise, overall approach to the CM:SF contextual and tactical setting ? I ask because I know I will have to go through a lot of info to get a decent understanding of the capabilities and ropes of this type of warfare. Exciting, but still, I have less time then previously (and far less knowledge than on WWII) to devote to a good, thorough preparation for this game. So thanks for contributing to my education in MOUT, RMA and other SBCT. As a side note, maybe BFC also got plans for some pubications of their own to complement all this and "educate" their fans ? I would be interested in some home made FM. Just an idea. Cheers

While I'm still unsure as to what would be appropriate size for modules, I venture the following ideas (which have been made by others already, quite a few time I may add ) War in Europe 39-40 would be an interesting basis for modules like: - Crossing to the Meuse - Dunkirk - Narvik - Advance into Benelux - Perhaps considering the forces involved and duration of the campaign, Poland 1939 would better be put out as a module ? I wonder if anything of the sort would score strongly on the american market though. Call me old school, but the Battle of the Bulge retains all its flavor as far as I'm concerned, and it does provide another pretty good basis for many other late-war, western front modules. I'm all for Korea, 50's or hypothetical. My small stand alone title would have to be the Falklands War in 1982. I'm all for anything Eastern Front related, but considering the gargantuesque size of that theatre, I wouldn't know where to start. Grossdeutschland is an interesting idea. And lastly, yes, an hypothetical Cold War gone hot would be interesting, just like I enjoyed playing USA vs USSR in 1962 at Steel Panther... Oh, and I'm all for a well thought out sci-fi tactical game. There are just too many ideas to name here, but the opportunity is certainly great for very interesting weapon concept, terrain elements and ambiance.   24. Steve, Reading your most recent comment about modules, I was wondering what you have in mind as to gauge the interest of the community in specific modules/major releases. In other word, can you tell us anything regarding how you plan to go about deciding which era/theater deserve your time and attention... Polls ? Voodoo ? Chicken bones ? Or maybe plain BFC interests/lack of therein... I ask because even though the new business strategy and CMx2 engine allows for more games faster, there is still a finite amount of work you can put into these games, hence some strategic choices here and there...
