My rule of thumb is to expect little or no truthful or accurate info from press conferences.  That's the trouble with the vast majority of our media these days.  They have replaced actual news journalism (especially investigative journalism) with parroting press releases and heated and endless "discussion/commentary" shows to fill the breaks between ads.
While it is very entertaining to have a fun chat about all this stuff here, the reality is that we will not know what is working or not for some years.  People forget how much Abe Lincoln was vilified in the 1860's, and how much FDR was hated in the 30's.  History will be the judge.

You guys should take a look at MOS's TOC scenario.  TOC shows what can be done to create both an Operational feel in a scenario as well as a COIN experience.

You forget that Democrats and Republicans (and the UN) have been making concession to NK for decades with nothing in return.  Same as with China.  That's the whole point - we had to try something new.  That's why Trumpy was elected.   At least he has gotten over to chat and rattle things.  We'll see what results (if any) in the coming years (not weeks or months).   Amazed by the sudden short-term thinking and convenient memory loss exhibited in this thread.

Thank you!  That is a big improvement.  The odd thing is that there are good skin mods for the Russians.  But they don't work for the DRA - so were the DRA skins made to different specs?

NK is merely a straw man for the Chinese to tweak the west's noses.  The Chinese have been over-playing their hand and grabbing massive amounts of territory (S China Sea) just like Hitler in the 30's.
The trade war has been in existence for decades - the casualties can be seen in all the shuttered plants and unemployment we've suffered over the last 20+ years.  Finally we're responding is all.

While great graphics are wonderful, I think most of the current customers would be perfectly happy to play CM2 with or without shadows.  The primary audience to date have been those of us interested in small/tactical military issues, and there is no competitor for CM2 AFAIK.   If one wants to start competing with Battlefield, Call of Duty and other big boys, then graphics becomes a primary selling point.  But, that is a different genre and appeals to a different audience.

Am always surprised that anyone thinks that we (the average audience) are being told anything other than government press releases that tell us nothing more than what they want us to know and believe.  And then, many thousands of folks like us sit around like ignorant old men at a cafe yakking about what it all means and how we would do it better etc.  (I do however admit it's a lot of fun to chatter like this.)
Unless one are part of the high level process, one knows next to nothing about this stuff.  What we do know is that China has world domination on its agenda.  Its methods include IP theft, S. China Sea territory grab (which threatens 90% of world trade), dumping of materials to destroy other nations' economies, massive investments in S. America, Africa, Asia and Europe in order to isolate the US and other western interests.
There was a hope that India would be capable of acting as a regional check on China.  FWIW these two nuclear powers are facing off as we speak at the "3 Corners/Tri-junction Area" of Bhutan.  However, it doesn't seem that India has the strength to dampen Chinese aggressive expansionist schemes.  Essentially, the 1930's are being re-enacted.  What to do about it is the big (and imo only) question.

Glad all is well with you.  I think I have everything you produced up to the June 17(?) Ukr Ground Forces one (seen just above).  And am enjoying using them in the TOC scenario tests.   Is there anything else I missed?

Quite predictable behavior by the NK's (and China for that matter).  Am certain that our people are on top of this.  I mean... even WE know about this stuff!  Games and strategic maneuver are being played by all sides.  We have the winning hand... right now... and need to play it.  In a dozen years, who knows where our would-be Chinese overlords and their NK puppet regime will be at.

My mods are far from being perfect. I've started getting familiar with Photoshop only in October. Here on this forum there are modders who are far stronger than me. More specifically I'm talking about modders like Aris. Overall the hihghest quality of mods in CM are those made for WW2 CM games. They were actually my insparation. I've seen some mods for Red Thunder and that was something. People who work on those mods are truly talanted. I will check your mods if you could send me a link to them (because I dont know what game you modding). But still thank you for your kind words. P.S. "heart" button relates to "like" not to "used" lol but it ok - press it only if you feel like it. Back to modders - there are modders who are actually changing shapes of models in CM hames. Those are people with advanced skills and probably some extra time. I'm not planing to hang out around forums as much as I did before but everytime I produce something in decent amount I will be posting it here just to let some people know that there are some new eye candy waiting for them. Also I'm working on some maps at them moment but that is a process. Maybe by the end of this year I will provide this wonderful community with a map + scenario. Both Map and Scenario will have reccomendation towards what mods of mine to use in order to get the best possible experience. Yet they will be playeble even for those who is not using mods at all. So plans are big - time is short.

CMBS: Ukrainian Ground Forces By Oleksandr

This is my biggest and final MM-14 camouflage MOD and it will be constantly updated every few months.

In the past I have done different thematic digital mods for Ukrainian side. Most of them were related to specific units.
    This mod is different.

I’ve created this mod in order to cover Ukrainian Ground Forces in General.

The key here is that now your operations are not limited to a single unit.
Most of my work here was related to MM-14 digital pattern.

My goal was to adapt this camouflage to the in-game environment. After changing it a little towards most of the maps landscape I think I did not that bad.
Take a look on following screenshots:

As you can see now Ukrainian soldiers are really camouflaged.

This will come in handy for those of you who like to make videos based on Combat Mission Games.
Your forces will now look camouflaged for real.

So far this mod will provide you with few helmets, uniform, gear, pateches, backpacks and boots.

In upcoming updates different types of uniform/gear/vests will be added.

Good luck in your battles my friends, more stuff will come within time.

P.S. This mod will not conflict with any of my standard uniforms mods. This mod will only replace digital unifroms.

Little update: Textures are nearly done. I'm not happy with the fastex buckle since it was hand made.

Problem I'm running into is getting it in game. I can't seem to get it to line up with the soldier model, and the textures won't show up. I'll play around with it. Any texture guys have insight?

As are stretcher bearers rescuing WIA and logistic supply trains and food preparation.  But the game doesn't feature those cos they are boring.  Boring bits should be abstracted.  Since this a game, one wants to as much as possible, eliminate the tiresome stuff and allow the player to focus on the fun stuff.

Becoming skilled enuff to master the tactics and game system is what the challenge should be about.  Not mastering a UI that is a PITA.

IIRC there have been some wonderful scenarios or missions within a campaign which start with just such a recon mission - and some of us at least, find that very entertaining.  They are a nice chance from the average assault, assault, assault missions that abound.  The point again that I was attempting to make is that to use recon vehicles effectively, the way they were designed to work, one needs fairly large maps so they have a use for their sophisticated optics and/or electronic sensors.  Not sure why that is such a controversial concept.

Thought we were talking about modern recon vehicles which have sophisticated systems - not much good if they need to look only 10 meters ahead.   Not much point in having systems that are designed to look 1+Km distance in such close ranges as described above.  Am simply remarking that there are good reasons to have larger maps in which the systems that are featured in CM2 can be used effectively... whether for recon or transport.
