  1. Well, Umlaut is doing a set up for me already. But, if you want to play Martyr and report back to Peter he would probably be grateful. If you've sent me private mail, I will send you the scenario and Peter's e-mail address and you guys can sort it out between you...
  2. Thanks for volunteering guys. I sent you pvt msgs re e-mail so you can see if you want to try it.
  3. Designer Peter Tirrell asked me to find an oppo for PBEM. Anyone?
  4. Need to find a playtest oppo for a small CMBN PBEM. Anyone?
  5. Yes that would be useful. We are blessed with wonderful sound mods but am scared to explode the .brz files and cherry pick sounds as in CM1 I ended up making 45mm ATG's sound like 150mm cannon etc. So, one really needs to know what one is doing...
  6. You should go and buy CMAK as that has most of the bugs worked out of the CM1 system lol.
  7. You can't make this stuff up... Code red as curry powder clears mail centre http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/code-red-as-curry-powder-clears-mail-centre-20111216-1oxsp.html#ixzz1geuZOkmb
  8. People report that when they move mostly HUNT and FAST they seem to have less immobilization problems. If, so that is strange/counter-intuitive. My problems have been while moving very carefully and SLOW. Anyhow, am happy it's being worked on by BF.
  9. It may be visually appealing in a film-maker sense, but the troops couldn't actually DO much in the boat. So, it's really about who survives to get to the beach. And that can be simulated way more easily in the set-up by the designer and given replayability by the random destruction of AI arty fire.
  10. Sheesh.... Everyone wants to direct...
  11. It's interesting and am glad that players now like the dirty battle-worn look. I recall in CM1 most of the mods, at least the early ones, were pristine factory fresh clean. I could never understand why folks used to like that. But, amongst my favorites are the dirtied mods for the lowly trucks, jeep, kubelwagon and other soft vehicles. I loved all the Brit ones in CMSF.
  12. The pro effects smoke is xnt, much less dense than the default. And and the tracer is good. (And I already had a mod for those, but I like the pro effects more.) Don't think I've seen an explosion yet so can't comment on that one. But, I used to use Scipio's stuff in CMSF so I know they are all good. I have Scipio's flames and muzzle fire already in CMBN.
  13. I think I know what Clark et al mean. I have occasionally experienced the same frustrating problem and it had nothing to do with placement next to an obstruction. The CMBN C2 system sometimes exhibits um.. "weird" features and does not always function perfectly. Ya just gotta try different HQ's or move the mortars to a different location and suddenly the system works again - have never figured out the issue.
  14. The sounds are great. Thanks!
  15. Just to confirm we only need the extra spaces for the Early StuG and Early StuH skirt graphics options(?). Also, I assume that one needs to add the space using the Properties menu, not by simply renaming.
  16. It sounds like that in the meanwhile we may get better performance by avoiding roads altogether. I shall try that (and/or be very careful about being in the cente of a road at all times).
  17. That's a funny observation and sadly probably true. But, I do wonder if the current system discourages new players who are not milpros. Most of us have been trained by 10+ years of CM1 so we kinda know what to expect from our armor.
  18. The other issue with bocage gaps is the problem in identifying them in the first place. I dunno if it's the lighting or what but I find that I often have to get to Level 1 and track sideways down the length of a bcoage "wall" in order to spot a gap. It's very time consuming. The other problem with the lower/smaller bocage is that there are small gaps in them which you can see thru, but these are NOT traversable. So, you have to make another time-consuming judgement call as to which gaps are passable and which are not. Put these two issues together and one has another irritating non-fun chore approaching that of the excessive bogging issue we've been bitching about...
  19. How on earth did you discover the trick with 2 spaces, Aris? I envision you spending countless hours experimenting with every combination of name until you get one that works! And thanks for the new mods!
  20. Were there explosion mods for CMSF? If so, maybe they would work with CMBN?
  21. So Brigade was originally a form of Kampfgruppe, or Task Force? Very interesting treatise Jason. Thanks.
